Great hotel, could do with a lick of paint in a few places, but other than that I can’t fault it. Comfy bed, clean room, and beautiful views.

Room had a smell to it..and very cold...did not have a warm cosy friendly feeling. Glad it was just one night. Bed however was comfortable

Clean and tidy with friendly staff and a great pub on site too.

Visiting family nearby so convenient. The rooms , having stayed once before, are a bit tired and need some love and attention. With the Passage Inn by the river edge just a few metres away and the sun shining it can be quite pleasant. Staff in hotel and Inn are friendly and helpful.

Friendly staff, building a little tired.

Very nice hotel..nice room..however..we could not eat in the evening of our 2nd night because of coach partys..we were not told that at certain times they could not feed us..luckily we walked down to the riverside pub where they were more accomodating..otherwise we would have gone to bed hungry...not sure if its right that residents are treated secondary to coach partys but nevertheless..apart from that it was a nice stay at a reasonable room rate.

Great spot next to the river.
Beautiful when having breakfast weather permitting.
Outside areas unkept and rooms a little tired.
Great location and quiet.
Good value and staff very helpful.

Very nice hotel in a quiet area.
A bit run down , but staff tried to keep it as clean as possible

I'd highly recommend this hotel. It's by the estuary, which is beautiful. Food is just around the corner and there's plenty of parking. There are lots of great places within a few miles, so it's a great base for a holiday.
The holiday is a little dated, but the staff were super helpful and sorted out any issues really quickly. The room was a great size. The pool isn't big but the kids loved it.

Noisy hotel! Uncomfortable beds. No ventilation, window only opens a crack. Felt like I was in an oven. Ground floor, car park next to window so heard all the cars coming and going. Zero peace and quiet. Large coach tours also staying here so breakfast was a nightmare.

It was a dream to stay at the Passage House hotel. The staff were caring and efficient. The rooms were clean and had a beautiful outlook from the balcony of the wetlands. Would have loved to stay longer.

Great staff but place is in need of updating
4.0
The place was clean but all needed updating. Surrounding area was lovely. It wasn't clear when I booked an apartment at the hotel that it would not be serviced during our stay and the towels would not be changed. We were able ro get towels and loo roll from reception but it wasn't clear what to do with used towels.

Not in the hotel but a building across the car park, a very warm weekend was marred by the room having no ventilation and only able to the window slightly. Went into the bar for a nightcap but the very unfriendly night porter at 11:30 would not serve us. The only up side to this poor hotel was the staff at breakfast, very efficient.

Bed was uncomfortable and coffee and full English breakfast was awful

Lovely location.
Excellent staff
Place looked a bit in need of a deep clean. Carpets etc looked dirty and smelly.
Bedroom in need of a coat of paint.
But has excellent potential to be an amazing place.

Excellent service, great comfortable stay,I would stay again

Decent stay. Hotel has a nice seating area with beautiful views. Rooms seem fairly old but decent for a night's stay.

Beautiful position overlooking the river with lovely country pub within 1 minute of hotel. Room was comfortable for my needs but definitely needs to be updated.

The main features of the hotel were very good and the exterior and views were great. Our room was good, but the outside patio could have done with a clean, also the patio furniture should be replaced because they are showing their age. The bathroom was in very good condition, except for the bath panel which is in need of replacing. Overall though we enjoyed our stay at the Passage House Hotel.

The apartment itself was well equiped, clean and comfortable though needed updating. It was quite noisy with the sound of both the M5 motorway and railway line closeby with frequent trains passing every few minutes.
I would stay again but would much prefer to be allocated an apartment on the other side of the building which would be a lot quieter.
I wasn't that impressed with the leisure facilities as I was lead to believe they had recently been refurbished but the sauna area looked very tired and unwelcoming

The Passage House is a little tired in places now but I like this hotel. The location is great, the staff, friendly and helpful and rooms are clean and comfortable. What more do you need?

Staff were helpful. Beer was terrible. It was reasonably priced. Can't have it all

Very pleasant stopover. Have stayed before and will again. Decent location

Large space to stay in, not the most luxurious but did the job for somewhere to stay on a self catering basis.

Literally only spent a night here, not even breakfast, so hard to say much!

Our room was located in the South building and was shabby, old and outdated. The carpet in our room was worn and faded and stained. The linoleum in the bathroom was bubbled up. The premises had beautiful gardens but we're totally unkempt, full of weeds, etc. A very tired place I would not recommend.
The staff were friendly and helpful.

Absolutely fabulous place to stay - we had our hire car so it did not matter that it’s a bit away from towns - great size room and really great choice of meal options - restaurant and pub style both offered - really well equipped and could’ve stay a lot longer - very quiet and lovely view over the tidal estuary - east drive to Torquay, Dartmouth, Totness and extremely beautiful part of the world - loved it - this was a 2 night stay

Location is perfect for a base to explore this side of Devon. Nice spacious apartment, could do with modernising. Says daily cleaning we never had the room done once and it felt like it hadn't been done for us for when we got there. No towel change or toilet paper re stock.

Very scenic location with great facilities and staff to run them.

good room and outlook with excellent breakfast

The hotel is in a lovely location - but the rooms and overall appearance is that it needs a good clean and update.
A bit "dated" and some areas of carpet need replacing.
This may be due to the state of the economy but if its not an inviting place to stay they wont attract visitors to return.
