Bit older building, but 2ell run family hotel. Stayed here for 1 night. Very friendly and helpful owner. Due to New Years day, only had limited dinner choices (aspergus soup, veal ragout, trout), but the quality of the dishes was excellent. Same for the breakfast. Sauna was also nice after spending a whole day outside hiking in the cold. I would come here again if I'm in the area.

This hotel is ideally situated for hiking but it is a good half an hour drive to Trier. The hotel is adequate but really needs updating unless you embrace quirkiness. English is only spoken by the chef/maybe owner's son so unless he is around non German speaking guests will struggle. If you wish to settle your account with a credit card the hotel will charge a fee for this transaction.
The hotel is up a steep hill and has fantastic views over the valley but it is somewhat dismal inside.

Had expected it to be closer to Luxembourg as it was listed at 4 km away....my error was to not specify Luxembourg City. Hotel was ok, WIFI did not work very well and the breakfast was fairly basic, a plate of meat and chees to share and no refills of coffee

The hotel sits high on a hill overlooking the town and valley below. The small, family owned and operated inn is clean and inviting. A wonderful breakfast buffet is included in the stay. We stayed during a heat wave and there is no A/C. Fans were not provided. Otherwise, a great place to rest one's feet!

We were on the third floor, with no lift or air conditioning. We were not even provided a fan and it was close to 90 degrees. The breakfast was excellent. It is owner-run, quaint, and in a beautiful area. But I think if I were to go again, I would spend a little more money and stay in Trier.

Good overnight stay on way to Dijon. Hotel seems to cater to hikers from Belgium and Netherlands. Reasonable convenient to Trier. Good single item menu dinner. Good breakfast. Convenient free parking. Friendly staff.

Typical European hotel; helpful staff, good breakfast; took a long time to get the room warm.

The stay was great...spacious accomodations, onsite parking, beuatiful location, delicious food. The innkeeper was most gracious and offered suggestions of things to do in the area and provided maps. Breakfast is included; dinner is offered at additional fee - well worth the cost. Innkeeper speaks English, which was nice for us. Oh, and this inn has the BEST COFFEE I have found in all of Europe!

This is a family run hotel located uphill with great view. Rooms clean and spacious. The food is just great. We will stay there again and enjoy the good food and excellent surroundings.

This was a nice place to stay, but a very hard place to find and get to. The GPS routes you to some impossible roads; searching for an address and driving a stick shift on slick roads and extreme inclines in the rain, it was pretty scary going. The manager was helpful with suggestions for sites to see in the area and directions. The breakfast included in the price was a typical German breakfast - good croissants!

I travel primarily for business and try to stay at non-chain hotels. Although I rarely use all the ammenities that are available and didn't in this case either, I have to say that what I did experience was outstanding. I arrived late and the kitchen was already closed. The owner, Winfred, offered to warm up some homeade goulash soup which he served with bread and beer. This was wonderful after meetings and traveling all day.
The following day I checked out and was heading to another meeting and found the battery had died in my rental car. Winfred assisted in trying to start the car and when we couldn't, he called the rental car agency on my behalf and waited while they fixed my car as I had to take a taxi to my meeting. When I returned the car was fixed and running so my battery was fully charged.
Although I can't speak to all the ammenities that are available at this hotel, I have to assume that he treats all his guests in this manner and therefore highly recommend this hotel. The views across the valley are also quite picturesque.

From our arrival, we were made to feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner and staff of this delightful hotel - a real gem and a well-kept secret! As two gay men travelling together, initial reception is always a concern, but we were welcomed wholeheartedly and treated extremely well throughout our stay. Rooms were large, well equipped and all had superb views over the surrounding beautiful countryside. Breakfast was substantial, with choices to suit all tastes. We chose to have dinner at the hotel for most of our stay there: we would highly recommend doing this as the standard of meals there was superb. Unusually in Germany, we were offered vegetarian options using locally sourced ingredients to produce very tasty, very satisfying meals. These were also very reasonably priced.
We were offered advice on the best places to go hiking, strolling, shopping and loaned maps to help find our way around. The Ritschlay at Bollendorf village is located in the beautiful Sud-Eifel region of Germany, on the Luxembourg border. We stayed at the 'Four Seasons' (Vierjahreszeiten)rooms, located down the hill from the main hotel. It's quite a steep but short climb up to the hotel for meals, but it helps to work up an appetite! Rooms were quiet, comfortable, well-maintained and very clean. Beds had very soft mattresses, which may not be great for anyone with back problems, but for most people these would be very comfortable.

Great hotel, smart rooms and fantastic service. Advice from owner on to hop over border for cheap fuel (20 cents cheaper) and local sites, Devils Gorge, made ourone nights stay quite memorable and got our vaccation off to a flier!
