Fabulous location. Chic modern hotel. Great rooms, well appointed.
Only downside is getting £100 taken out of my account on check-in. Then not getting it back for 5 - 7 working days...

Great location - clean room, fully stocked fridge and snacks, comfy bed, nice bathroom, clean and tidy. We didn't receive our welcome drink we were promised - they even gave it to the couple in front of us and then deadpan ignored us! cheeky.

The Velvet Hotel used to be my favourite place in Manchester to stay, having been a few times. I've always recommended it.
But this time around definitely fell short.
I paid over £400 for a night in one of the suites with a bath in the room.
The best part was being able to check in early - that was appreciated and helpful although no welcome drink as I've been used to on arrival (the little things matter).
The room was absolutely lovely and nicely presented (needed a good clean though as there was dust all over the walls and the waterfall shower didn't have all jets working as it was clogged up- I quickly scrubbed away the limescale and got it fully on (but again, the little things). The carpet needed a good clean as well.
Slept soundly with no issues.
In the morning I thought I'd make myself a coffee and a tea, but there was No mugs, no milk, no coffee and no tea in the room. I went down to reception and asked and was given a coffee pod, two teabags and two mugs. Still no milk and there was no offer to bring it up. (the lift was out of order as well so a lot more walking).
The next thing was having a morning bath (I'd paid over £100 difference to get a room with a bath). It was our 7 years anniversary so I wanted to make sure it was nice.
The plug didn't latch so you couldn't run a bath.
On check out we told reception this and was given a very half hearted apology.
I think I'm really disappointed by how it's gone downhill and the lack of effort to make it up.

Bed fine
Room ok.
Noisy outside and inside with rude guests - not hotels fault that.
Noisy area.
Asked twice for tea and milk and glasses not taken and replaced from clean.

Very friendly and helpful staff very clean and beautiful hotel rebooked already for New Year’s Eve

Our stay at The Velvet Hotel was lovely from the moment we arrived to the time we left.
Check in was really quick and efficient and being given a glass of Rosé Prosecco to drink while we were checking in was a really nice touch.
Our room was lovely. Spotlessly clean, well equipped and really comfortable. My only observation would be that because we were on a low floor the noise from Canal Street below was quite noticeable when we got back to our room after being out for the night. This wasn’t an issue for us, but light sleepers may want to ask for a higher floor or bring ear plugs with them.

Nice stay overall but let down by a couple of things.
We ate in the brasserie on Thursday night but the service was very poor. Slow, didn’t take drink order until the food order and didn’t offer us a dessert or the bill. We had to chase this.
We were in room 26 and it was a bit tired. Loose tiles on the floor in the bathroom, A lot of scuffs and marks on the furniture and the carpet could do with being replaced as it was worn. The TV also didn’t work properly. Freeview channels were constantly glitching.
The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were quiet. The area was nice and central but we wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel in a great location

We stay here regularly and unfortunately this time was a big let down.
The bathroom lights decided to stop working, they are run on touch buttons and so are liable to stop working. We were offered another barhroom to use on another floor which isn't good, we payed 500 pounds for a boutique room not a hostel. The room was in general disrepair and the coffee machine didn't work.....standard in most hotels.
We have stayed here regularly and have seen a slowl decline in the standard.
The staff are excellent, but maybe a little training on how to reset lights in the rooms would help, it's just a reset of the plc.

Wonderful stay yet again thank you

Are you stayed at this hotel during Manchester pride, that was my reason for going. The hotel is right in the middle of the festivities. Literally, you have to be part of the festival in order to stay there during that time. The hotel is amazing. I chose the Loft which was incredible lots of space and lots of amenities. The staff was very accommodating and they welcomed me with a glass of champagne. As well as a pile of champagne in my room.

Staff was very helpful, and being able to check-in early after my redeye flight was amazing.

Great hotel in a lively area of the city, easy check in with a welcome glass of prosecco. Clean and comfortable room with all that you would expect to find.
Will definitely stay again.

The hotel is beautiful and my room was gorgeous. The staff were lovely and attentive. I worried about noise from outside, given the location, but there was none. It is clearly very well insulated from noise.

It would have been handy if there was a usb socket. Also the room above was very squeaky on the floorboards and noisy people in the hallways.

Are stay was pretty good but there were some things that could improve for example i had to go down twice to reception due to my key card not working but the issue was dealt with quickly and the staff apologised for the inconvenience. Also the room had some age related issues such as the main light housing in the room was peeling away and there were cracks in the tiles in the bathroom which made the tiles move a little when you stepped on them but, overall is was a good hotel and the staff were amazing.

It was great to stay this will be the 2nd time and was good because we was there for the festival.

Good location. Quirky. Comfortable room.
No eating facilities

Great stay, lovely hotel and helpful staff. Hotel smelt lovely when you walked in, nice decor, toiletries were fab and the room was very spacious. The only downfall was our room had skylights and the blinds didn't cover the windows so it was very light, very early.
Didn't ruin the stay though!

First off the property is great! Really good location in the centre of Manchester. Fixtures in the hotel are amazing e.g. great bed, amazing bathroom (huge bathtub), coffee machine and tv. Balcony also great!!!
However, the hotel is let down by its housekeeping which dampened my experience. For example, under the beds there was used tissues and half a biscuit. There were also several long hours which clearly are not mine.
There was Also an earring under the cupboard area. This all suggests that cleanliness needs to be improved. If this was better I would have no issues in offering a five star rating!
I would go back for sure if cleanliness was better.

Nice hotel. Slowest lift up to the 4th floor in the world. Bath tub in the room took 45 mins to fill up. Apart from that, really nice.

Very good. Can’t fault

Run down hotel in poor condition. Funky coloured walls, where the paint hasn’t fallen off. Slow and uninterested staff. Overall quite sad. It’s like they think it’s cool, but the years have gone by. It’s in fact so bad I cancelled the second night despite not getting a refund and found us a proper hotel (Stock Exchange Hotel).

We were attending the Pearl Jam gig at the Co-op Live and chose this hotel as it was close to the train and tram stations. This hotel is very small in the number of rooms available. Upon arrival we were upgraded to one of their Signature duplex penthouse suites suites and were amazed by the room. The room was large and spacious and was clean and very quiet. I can imagine as the hotel is on the edge of Canal Street that at the weekend this area is very active with many bars and eateries can be loud but we hardly heard anything even though the pub next door was very busy on a Tuesday night. We can visit Manchester at least once a year to see a band or catch up with family and I would stay here again if I could get in as it had a great vibe, the staff were exceptionally helpful and you are close to public transport and within a short 5 minute walk can be into the city centre.

Bed was incredibly comfortable - decor was intimidating (religious iconography on the walls). It felt a bit tired and in need of a refurb.
5.0
Great hotel, we had a room with a balcony over canal street
2.5
My first time here since the refurb and while the rooms have lost some character they remain very comfortable and beautifully designed. The location is great, as is the service and I’d plan to return as my first choice whenever life brings me to Manchester.

Really nice place to stay, right in the mix. Easy check in and friendly reception staff.

What a stay! Easily one of our top stays in the UK and for many great reasons. Facilities and amenities were beautiful; fresh and new with impeccable style and the staff! The team were so sweet and lovely to meet. We had a small issue with hot water but the team were so quick to help get things fixed and it was as if nothing had happened. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a great stay in the Gay Village.

Very pleasant hotel. Quite quirky. Nice decor.

Location was brilliant, area around the canal was very good and vibrant in the evening, places to eat and drink within walking distance.Room itself was very tired, with damaged mirror tables taped over, shower room floor tiles cracked, radiator caps missing, down light hanging down, blinds broken, feel this room was well over priced .

Stayed in one of the rooms that not been updated so was not in as good condition as other rooms that have been upgraded but still had a lovely stay and was good price

Thought that the breakfast was a little overpriced apart from that we would stay again if the need occured

Great location for Manchester City centre and friendly staff. Barman was very helpful with advice of places to eat and organising taxis. Definitely worth a visit.
