Charged twice for the room

Very clean and welcoming. Breakfast and its surroundings were 2nd to none, it all felt rather plush. Staff very helpful. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
4.3
This was our 3rd time of staying and will definitely return.
Food lovely as alwayscand bar staff welcoming and friendly. Room cleaned thoroughly.
4.3
Comfortable, clean room . Bed amazingly comfy. Great value
4.3
Room was good size, quiet, clean. Bathroom could do with a bit of tlc... cracked floor tiles, shower was cheap and feeble. Breakfast was ok, toaster didnt toast very well, fried eggs sat in grease. Would give it another try though.
4.3
Lovely room, Staff extremely helpful. Enjoyable stay.
4.3
Be mindful when booking this property, rooms located in the Courtyard are NOT per the images. Far smaller and very outdated.
Also, the rooms are INCREDIBLY noisy. We were awaken on our first night at 5:42am by a hotel worker taking a phone call in front of our room window. Second night was not much better, awoken before 8am by team emptying bins.
4.3
Such a friendly welcome and great value for a REALLY posh and smart looking historic hotel. When we asked for extra milk for our room we were offered a little jugful! Lovely place
4.3
Excellent customer service. Unable to open bedroom window so a bit warm. Large comfy bed. Excellent breakfast.
4.3
Ok for one night stay.
Bed and bathroom were lovely, no complaints.
Room big enough.
Only downside my room was behind the elevator so could hear it moving up and down.
4.3
Only one dislike. The sachets of coffee,in the room, were horrible, revolting ersatz.
4.3
Staff are fantastic and so friendly, but the accommodation feels very dated and sadly the town is quite run down. Spotlessly clean, amazingly friendly staff. They have kept the outside looking as good as possible but the area around them lets it down.
4.3
Great hotel, small and smart. Comfortable rooms and bathrooms.
Staff throughout from reception to bar and restaurant all excellent.
Delicious breakfast !!
4.3
Traditional feel inside
4.3
Convenient place to stay in the centre of Barnstaple staff were excellent.
4.3
We were allocated a very small room that looked out over the flat roof of the building and fire exits
The room was very small and would not be great for along stay, we were there two nights and it was okay
Book parking if you need it as spaces can be tight, there is another parking plot further down the same road and it far from hotel

Amazing hotel

Stay here a few times a year visiting our daughter and grandchildren. It’s a long drive so we treat ourselves. The staff are always friendly, especially Howard on the bar. The rooms are clean and I think most have been recently refurbished. Our room (15 I think) only had a tiny window in the corner which was frosted. For the first time we had real trouble parking. Had to park in the alley behind and then get up before 8am to try again. On 2 of the 3 mornings I had to park in the public car park up the road. I was told by reception that it was not possible to reserve a parking spot. Having to get up early after and before a long drive is not the rest I was hoping for ! We have also noticed in the last year or so that prices for the R&F and their sister hotels The Imperial and The Park have increased considerably.

Cleanliness is good, staff polite, bed comfortable pillows bit hard but that's down to personal preference.
Toilet seat loose and wobbled about plus toilet seat lid coming off, quicker to fix itemd myself that get hotel involved.
Drinks are not cheap in hotel bar, bar 62 noisy

Very comfortable and clean.

I’ve stayed at this hotel before. I find the staff genuinely friendly and enjoy the lack of fuss I receive.
4.3
Pleasant staff, decent room which was clean and comfortable but overlooked a back alley.
The bar was absolutely soulless!
4.3
Love it. Going back.
4.3
All of the staff throughout my stay were friendly and welcoming.
The room was lovely it was in the courtyard part not in the main hotel. If you are a light sleeper ear plugs are a must as the walls are incredibly thin and you can hear people coughing and in the shower/bath.
Car parking is interesting as one of them is very small and people do not know how to park properly.
I would stay here again.
4.3
Lovely hotel in a great location excellent spacious well appointed room, restaurant very good.
4.3
The hotel is truly beautiful. Staff very friendly n efficient. Requested early check in with no problems as had understand 4 start. Only issue was room very very warm-air conditioning unit in the room- however very noisy & prevented sleep, therefore utilised very little, consequently little sleep had. C not fault anything else, centrally located n truly beautiful time had with family. Guess just one of those things unfortunately.
4.3
Excellent hotel. Staff very friendly.

Staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotel extremely clean with a good standard of facilities. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel which is very convenient for the centre of Barnstable.

Was an overnight stay after evening theatre trip. Ideal location for both theatre and town. Used local restaurant so unable to comment on hotel dining but the breakfast was excellent. Well presented hotel with lots of history. Friendly staff. Would most certainly use again.
4.3
Clean, friendly & efficient - delicious dining menu
4.3
Fantastic hotel, clean, friendly, great service. Second time there for a weekend break and the theatre, will definitely be there again .
4.3
Short walk to shops / restaurants
The onsite restaurant was very nice and catered for gluten free ( a bit pricey)
4.3
Then reception staff, Emma was very helpful, the room very quiet at night and the bed was extremely comfortable.
4.3
I stayed for work and instead of the single room booked ended up with a double room. Got there late and reception were friendly and helpful. Parking is plentiful but slightly away from the hotel.
4.3
The cleaner's done a fantastic job as the room was spotless . staff were really helpful at the reception . Had an amazing sleep as bed was very comfy we will stay again ..
4.3
I am a bit hard of hearing and was only able to understand some of what the receptionist said. All her vowels were “ah”.
Room smelled of tobacco smoke.
Shower didn’t seem to work.
Nothing was said about breakfast, so we didn’t eat but an apple in the morning. Nice to have the tea and chocolate to drink at that point.
4.3
Bathroom unit was in poor state due to water damage from bath / sink and should have been replaced.
The bedroom was tired and needed refreshed.
4.3
Perfect stay, perfect location, clean tidy and very comfortable beds. Can’t fault the place.
