We had a great couple of nights at Mario Lupo, the host was very kind and accommodating. It had a very cosy atmosphere, and the breakfast that the host made was good, a large pot of coffee with fruits, yogurt, jams, and local bread.
It has a great location.
We arrived at the same time as a larger group, which threw the host out of his rhythm, making the service provided less than excellent, explaining why we only rate 4/5.
Overall great experience, would come again.

The property is housed in a historic building. Frescoes and ancient brick work is evidenced throughout, including the rooms. The owner/manager is kind and helpful. The bedding and interior paint work could use a refresh.

An unusual hotel with all you need in the middle of the old town. We stayed on the ground floor in a nice room, formerly a wine cellar? The ceiling is rounded with beautiful bricks, a good bed, lots of storing space, a small kitchen and a nice bathroom. The temperature inside is cool, but not cold, on a warm day. The host is nice and helpful, and we have nothing to complain about. There's a roof garden the guests may use. It's close to the churches, but the bells didn't disturb us.

Nice place and good service.
No tv and no heaters but over all a good stay

Casa Mario Lupa is an excellent base for exploring Citta Alta in Bergamo. Located in an old building the facilities are fine. Our room did not have a window we could use but otherwise we had everything we needed. Breakfast was limited but again ok. The owner was welcoming and helpful.

Excellent facilities, and great location just a few yards away from the main walking streets of Bergamo (upper town). There are four locked gateways/doors to get through to access your room which added to the feeling of being very protected within this beautiful old building. The very polite owner & his family live on site which was also very reassuring. Breakfast was always served with a smile and some good advice on restaurants. Local Bergamo wine is available to purchase from owner as well as a selection of beverages. Bergamo has history and beauty in equal measure. The Basilica is one of the most beautiful I’ve been in.

Gianmauro was an excellent and very friendly host. The property is a medieval house in the center of old Bergamo, close to the Cathedral and several churches. The room was quiet and pleasant. Highly recommended.

Great staff!

Location is great, and the property is in an old palace, with frescoes, really beautiful!
Overall, I recommend it.
Unfortunately, we probably got the worst room in that property. It's a room on the ground floor that had only one window, facing the entrance. So, if we wanted to have natural light, privacy would be a bit compromised.
Other rooms above us had more windows.

This is a mixed review. I give the B&B 10 for the location in Bergamo’s historique center and for the historical building. The room was very big and had a full size fridge. I give them 7 when it comes to the breakfast and the service. Also at this location the locality forbids heating after April 15 so if you encounter a cold spell in the weather as we did, the room is cold (19 celcius). If you are by car, you must park in a private parking facility about 5 minutes away passing on cobblestone streets. The parking is a very safe place to put your car but it costs 25 Euros. Took funicular to citti bassa where you can find a nice laundromat and wash and dry for about 10 euros. A good 15-minute walk.

The character of the room was amazing. Vaulted ceiling, stone and brick walls, and a chandelier made me really feel like I was in Italy! All that and breakfast too!

Took a taxi directly from the train station to the front of this hotel for about €12. Completely worth it so you don’t have to try to find it. Our host was kind, patient and thorough. The property is cute as can be, and we were very pleased with our room. It was charming, had two beds, and a perfect little kitchenette. It was quiet and perfect, just what you would expect being in the heart of old town Bergamo. A short walk to anything and everything, and you should do yourself a favor and try out this little property instead of a larger hotel. Left tooearly to have breakfast, but I’m sure it would’ve been spectacular. **Make sure to communicate with the property out of time as far as arrival timing. We did not do this ahead of time, and was unaware their messages to me were going to my spam folder box. Also used the Hotels private car service for an early airport run the next morning, and I highly recommend that young man as well.

This is a charming bed & breakfast type room in a beautiful old building right next to Piazza Vecchia in the old town. Everything is close at hand, and all the restaurants we tried were very good with friendly and professional service. As tourists we still seemed to be treated as well as locals. Casa Mario Lupo host, Gianmauro, is extremely helpful, and courteous. Our room was large and perfectly functional, with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast is simple, but wholesome and satisfying. If arriving by train take a taxi to the property, unless you are determined to save a few euros and want to try the very crowded bus and then the funicular. We confidently recommend this property to anyone visiting the delightful town of Bergamo.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. There was a kitchenette, washing machine and a good sized bathroom. Also a fan for when it is warm. We were located on the top floor but there are also rooms on the ground floor for people with mobility problems. Breakfast was ok with fruit, bread with jam or ham and cheese on another day. Tea/coffee/juice and yogurt. Very central location.

It was all perfect, from the booking over the initial contact, the service and personal care on site. It's a fantastic antic house, renovated with a lot of devotion. We loved our stay in Bergamo, thanks a lot!

The whole experience at Casa Mario Lipo is terrific. The breakfast is a wonderful start to each day and staying in Citta Alta is great for when the crowds disappear. Highly recommended!

Great Stay great location great B&B.
Also Gianmauro is kind and very helpful providing all information and assistance.
Wi FI to be improved
To be noticed that B&B is closed to the main church and you might get easily wake up by repeating sound of bells...

Fab place, great size rooms in an old building that is full of character
Location is perfect, just off the Main Street & a short walk to the Funicolare station.

Excellent location in centre of old town although being right next to the chiming bell tower does have its drawbacks at 7.30 am they do wake you up!! Lovely new renovated room within beautiful old building. Very secure. Breakfast typical Italian croissant bread rolls ham cheese hard boiled egg yoghurt. Faults were Pillows were very hard and No tea making facility. Owner was very helpful and nice

Beautiful clean room with kitchen and balcony, located heart of Bergamo Alta, right byDuomo. Comes with balcony and generous breakfast in garden area. Manager was so very helpful in recommending great restaurants and even what specialities to order. We enjoyed our stay very much

A lovely apartment, furnished in antique style. Bedroom upstairs with 2 single beds is with very low ceilings and thin wooden floor, so any movement with accompanying kids would be very loud. Noise from apartment above also easily heard. However this is a lovely, but quite expensive (compared to say a hotel in the new town) apartment right in the heart of the old town and very eay walking distance from funicular railway stop. Host is excellent and really looks after you, with hand delivered breakfast every morning. Expect to be woken up by the church bells!!

Bergamo is a lovely town and this apartment is in the perfect, central location but cool and quiet. Breakfast in the garden was very relaxing and we were made to feel very welcome. The building and some of the furnishings are very old, but the bed is new and very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

Casa Mario Lupo is a very short step away from Bergamo's historic core but very peaceful at the same time. The owner is very attentive and thoughtful.

This is a nice little bed and breakfast in a fabulous location if you want to explore BErgamo on foot. Rooms were very simple but service was great.

This B & B was perfect for our stay in Bergamo. Centrally located, a wonderful host, terrific breakfast. It is housed in a 16th century house with many period features. The room was large and beautifully furnished. Old world charm with modern plumbing.
If we return to Bergamo we will certainly book it again.

We stayed here for two nights in June and it was a lovely bed and breakfast. The building is very old and has a great deal of character. The B&B is in an excellent situation in the heart of the old town with many sites of interest close by. We had three older children and there was plenty of room for all of us. We particularly enjoyed the garden rooftop garden where we enjoyed lunch under the vines. Gianmauro was very welcoming and helpful and told us about the history of the building. I would recommend this B&B and hope to return again.

The location was great! Hard to find but once lost-the hotel manager came to find us and showed us where to go/park (actually got in the car with us and showed us!). It is walking distance to everything and we mainly strolled around the upper city and enjoyed atmosphere.
The room was very clean, but a bit old and worn, but since it was only used to sleep and shower in-it was fine. The 'breakfast included' consisted of ONE hard boiled egg, A cup of coffee, and ONE roll with some delicious jam. Not very filling at all, but there are pastry shops all around so we grabbed something more filling later that morning.
Other than not being impressed with the room and breakfast, the overall experience was great. we had a wonderful time and the hotel manager was very pleasant and helpful. He offered us maps and insights about the area.
He also allowed us to store our luggage and leave our car parked in the city after we had checked out (we didnt want to leave the area until later that day).
