My first meeting with the hotel was a dirty room up the elevator, down a hallway, up a set of stairs and down another hallway. The room was dirty and worn down.
The people working there is nice and polite and is the reason why the hotel gets three stars. Had it not been for them I would have given one star.
The hotel in general needs a makeover. The breakfast was alright but simple.

Nice enough hotel, located perfectly for a stay in Stirling.
Unfortunately, they are clearly short of staff and we gave up on getting breakfast. There was only one young lad (credit to him)dealing with a full restaurant. We could not even get a cup of coffee.
We gave up, got a refund on breakfast and went to the Meadowpark instead, where we were served a fantastic breakfast.

old hotel, uncomfortable room with a strong musty smell and the bathroom heater doesn't work

The downstairs public area of the hotel (the lobby, bar and restaurant) is modern and very nicely decorated but once you get beyond to the corridors and bedrooms the furniture and furnishings show their age and clearly need some updating. Our room had worn/torn carpets with exposed gripper strips around the edge, peeling faux leather bed base and the body wash in the ensuite was empty. Having said that the room was perfectly acceptable for a (relatively) cheap place to stop, the staff and service were exceptional and they were incredibly accommodating of our dog, down to leaving treats for him in our room and bringing him a sausage for breakfast. A lovely place to stay but not what I would have rated a 5 star hotel.

Immaculate room, excellent service, very relaxed atmophere. Excellent choice for veggie breakfast. Will definately be back.

Excellent location for walking to the main city sites. Parking in the hotel grounds cost us for 24 hours but it wasn’t a problem. The staff happily changed the stained inner douvet blanket.

It was OK, didn't like the emails from the hotel the day of the stay trying to upsell everything from petals on the bed to a room upgrade.
Just annoying and tacky
Room was fine, bed was fine, very quiet which was excellent.
Hairdryer didn't work, and breakfast not available till 8 at the weekends when I needed an early start.
Parking is a rip off which added a further 15% to the cost of the stay.

Nice room and quality breakfast although we found the bed a bit too hard for our liking

Located in great spot of Sterling, property must have been great in the past but oddly decorated now. The bathtub shower combo is an accident waiting to happen with a high step in and no hand holds. The staff were all very nice, friendly, and helpful!

The service was great at the restaurant, maid service and front desk staff. The hotel is in a great location- within walking distance to shops, the castle and restaurants. Overall our stay was very nice. I wish there was air conditioning and the lighted mirror in the bathroom did not work it was quite dark in the bathroom but we survived. We would stay here again if we come back.

This hotel was within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. The check in was easy, parking was available. Walk up the hill to the Stirling castle. The reception desk was also at the bar. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good.

Amazing stay at this hotel. Staff were attentive, breakfast was amazing and a great range of drinks at the bar. Highly recommend!

Great Location for sightseeing. It is located on a hill.
Staff were lovely, bar and reception area was nicely presented. However, for the price paid the bedrooms are very dated and a tacky colour of cream. The furniture looks worn out and tatty. Could be lovely if rooms were refreshed. Not worth what we paid.

Our first time in Stirling and we couldn’t have picked a better hotel. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location was close to great restaurants and attractions. When our flights were canceled they were able to get us another night and let us use their phones to contact the airline. We will come back and stay here again for sure!

Room was small. Bathroom was a good size. The hotel offers cooked breakfast, but the standard wasn’t that good.
Overall the staff were friendly.
Location gets five stars

Stirling was wonderful and Colessio perfectly located in centre of town. We really enjoyed our stay and were well looked after by the staff. The only downside was we were required to pay to park at hotel due to recent changes, although booking had parking included.

Beautiful hotel, excellent staff. Rooms are on the small side, but that’s seems typical of Europe and the UK. Highly recommend, excellent value for the price.

I didn’t care for the 3rd party parking payment. Parking should be managed by the hotel. I wish the restaurant was open for dinner.

Lovely rooms, clean and tidy
Tea tray was missing tea bags.
Lovely stay would recommend.

This is definitely not 5 star. The ceiling had cobwebs, marks on the wall and the room was small and needs updating. The furniture was grubby and no mirror in the room only in the bathroom. Again definitely not 5 star standard. I’ve slept in better 3 star hotels.

The rooms are dated, tiny and dirty. No air con, rooms were really hot, the lights outside our room made it look like day light in the room during the night. The shower was stuck on one temperature (scalding hot). Breakfast is subpar, didn’t give us the correct order on day 1 and on day 2 just got ignored. Super over-priced for a really poor stay.

This was a lovely base in the middle of Stirling, just below the castle which meant it was central for exploring the city at all times of the day, including an evening ghost walk. The room and hotel were comfortable but in some areas did look a bit dated. However the staff, service and food were very good and we were made welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were also happy to recommend ideas of what to see and how to make the most of our stay. Lindsey welcomed us on checking in and was one of the friendliest and most helpful people we encountered throughout our little tour of Scotland.

Mirror was broken in the bathroom, shower pooled, just overall kind of gross. Oh and when we woke up it was clear someone was smoking in the hallways

The photos of the hotel on the website are MUCH nicer than reality. The hotel is old and need an hosted. There were numerous ceiling cracks from leaking water in the Bruce Suite - including what smelled like sewage from cracks in the bathroom ceiling.

Good hotel, good location

The room was far too hot, even on a cool day. The mattress was terrible. No convenient plugs next to the bed, and the bedside lamp didn't work.
The lift was broken for about 50% of our stay. The bar only serves about four cocktails (at exorbitant rates, of course), and naturally they were unable to make any more of the one we liked, as they had run out of rum(???)
The breakfast (for which they demanded a time - no idea why, as it wasn't remotely busy) was unexpectedly a cold continental one. Apparently the coffee got the memo too, as it was ice cold.
The staff were courteous, but not really in any notable way. No one asked how our stay was at checkout, so I suspect some of this will be surprising.
I'm an occasional business traveler, so I've stayed in a fair few hotels across the UK and Ireland. This was the worst.

Great central location but little bit annoying having to pay normal car parking rate as a non resident would....

TV not working and told no one can look at it till the morning but told if i upgrade for £25 to another room that will have a working TV. I had to argue the point before thay changed my room free of charge. The £25 after playing £15 to park the car over night would have make it expensive compared to the stirling hotel next door.

My friend and I stayed here for one night in June. We booked a King Junior Suite to have some extra space. Not sure if we were upgraded but at check in we were given the Bruce Suite. It was quite lovely with large sitting area, that flowed into the bedroom. Also our bathroom was huge, complete with separate shower and bathtub. It's about a 10 minute walk from the train station, but mostly uphill. It's a bit taxing to make that treck with luggage so if you have any physical aligments, I'd recommend getting a taxi. The staff was super friendly. We had complimentary breakfast and it had an adequate selection. The castle is also close by, but again, uphill. I truely loved the stay here and would not hesitate to recommend or stay here again.

The room was clean and comfortable. The space was plenty large enough for two of us to unpack and move around. There is a bar with drinks and snacks for purchase in the lobby. The location was excellent. We did have to pay for parking which was on site. We had some issues with the heater, but Lyndsay came down immediately to help. I would recommend a stay at this hotel.

Location was convenient but charge for parking was not appreciated. The restaurant serves only breakfast and that is not included in the room rate. Group tours use this hotel.

To start, the staff were very nice and helpful!!
However, the condition of the building is significantly worn and outdated. The bed was so bad that when you sat on it, you immediately felt the platform underneath. The pillows were flat and old. The carpet was worn in some places and it was evident that previous guests had brought pets as there was a large amount of pet hair all over the carpet upon check-in. There was minimal to no lighting in the room to start, but in addition, one of the lamps didn’t work. The toilet would run for a while after being flushed. The unit we reserved was an ADA unit, therefore the bathroom setup was a bit different (which we anticipated) - the toilet, sink and shower were all in one open room. Whenever we ran the shower, the entire bathroom floor would flood. It was apparent that the amount of water coming out of the shower head was too much for the shower drain to handle. If we didn’t stop the water with a towel, it would have flooded the room. It was evident that this happened a lot as previous water damage was visible on the door and along the floor.
Remodeling was definitely done in the hotel entrance, bar and breakfast areas. I just wish they would have also done this in the rooms.
The breakfast was not worth the amount that is charged.
There are not many options to choose from in Stirling, but I would avoid this one!!

Luxury room. I love that. Tv wasn’t smart. I can’t ply netflix. Overall it was 10/10
