Old hotel, no lift, no breakfast, no Gideon Bible, no fridge, no be back

This hotel was a pleasant surprise, it was historic and charming, room was small and plain but clean and served our purposes. Parking was convenient right out front, it was priced well and I would stay there again.

A wonderful old hotel.
Definitely a different experience well worth it.

Excellent customer service. Great location.

The stay at the Royal Hotel was a delightful experience. The rooms were well maintained, retaining their original charm while offering some modern comforts. The antique decor provided a captivating glimpse into the hotel's storied past, evoking a sense of nostalgia and warmth, which made my stay a memorable one.

Average hotel, awkward with tub in room.

The area was renovated.

It was a very unique experience. It give us the chance to see how suites were in the older days and we enjoyed it

I loved the classic western vibe, the host was great and friendly, and room was nice and comfortable.
3.8
It was a great old hotel and staff was excellent
3.8
Our check in was easy and quick with Benjamin. Our room was cute and comfortable. We loved all the pieces of history on display.
3.8
Old hotel, the linens smelled a little, housekeeping was not available everyday and the entrance carpet smelled old and lime mouldy. But the staff are kind and accomodating

If you like character and history this is the place for you. However, if you like shiny new things that glean with stainless steel and glass this is not for you.
My wife and I stayed one night on our way from Kamloops to Vancouver airport. We had driven past Chilliwack a number of times and finally decided to check it out.
The Royal Hotel is much more interesting than the generic accommodations you get near the airport. It is a step back into the past, with a lobby that is almost unchanged from its 1908 beginnings. There are lots of fascinating original furnishings, and one imagines all the feet that have trodden the original floors. This would not be the place for the Holiday Inn ("no surprises") kind of guest as there is a feeling of being lived in but that was part of the hotel's charm for us.
We arrived quite late, and rang the bell to be admitted by a very friendly concierge we could call on at any time.
Linens, towels and the room were clean. The floor was creaky, the bath was actually in the bedroom and you could almost hear the ghosts in the attic. We loved all that character.
It's situated slap in the middle of the downtown which is charming with great care taken in restoring the old buildings.
When we were there (June 2024) the restaurant was closed awaiting a new tenant so we enjoyed our breakfast at the Uptown Grill in the restored downtown instead.

Really nice little hotel. Limited food options in that street and nothing close by walking distance opened until 10 or 11 am. Lots of homeless around, caught some breaking in to my car when I went out to get something. Other than that I have no complaints about the hotel. Would stay again

We stayed here in a last minute scramble for a room because it was cheap and centrally located. We wished we had chosen differently by the end of our one night stay...
Upon checking in, I asked about parking and was assured parking on the street was the best option and safe.
The next morning, despite removing all valuables, my car had a smashed back window from someone who decided my little, empty cooler bag was worth taking.
Now, it's hard to pin a 'smash and grab' on the hotel itself, despite their lack of safe parking and assurances that the street was where I should park. It happens, though anyone staying should know that there is not reliable or safe parking here.
In the morning, when I discovered the damage, I wanted to report it to the front desk and ask for assistance in clean-up and reporting it to the authorities. Absolutely no one was available.
Throughout the more than an hour that I spent dealing with this and reporting it, not only was there no one available in the hotel, nobody at the front desk or anywhere to be found, but the number they left on a sign at the front desk went straight to a voicemail.
Other guests wandered through and were also befuddled by the absence as they tried to check out, but in my case - when I truly had a problem - there was zero assistance to be had. You are literally on your own, no matter what happens.
I tried to address this after my stay, but the management didn't seem to see the problem and assured me there was nothing more they

Ben was great but room and bathroom small
3.8
Small, poorly appointed bathroom. Too much corridor light coming in under the entrance and through the transom window above the door.
Unique historic main lobby - interesting character.
Overall not good value.

Suffocating, needs care

Was denied service , glad that this hotel accepted payment and kept my money yet still refused my stay.

Great heritage hotel, clean, good staff, was just winter and no heat in room brrrrr

They no longer serve breakfast even though it’s advertised as such. The room we stayed smelled bad.
3.8
Nice fixtures, quiet but in a sketchy part of town. Lot of vagrants and users
3.8
Very small, no small fridge for travellers, ac didn’t work or no floor fan.
3.8
My truck was broken in to in the parking lot

Ok

Property was as advertise, minus the mountain view. Area rug and shower curtain and windows could use a wash. Beautiful heritage building
3.8
No elevator, one chair in room, no fridge, poor air conditioning, had to leave window open, old double bed, not suitable for two people, very small bathroom, old wood floors that creeped,
Nothing good to say about this joint

Didn't realize it was downtown. Old hotel but the staff was amazing
3.8
No idea what this place is like.
Room booked 6 months prior was cancelled with no good reason. No compensation or assistance for alternative accommodation.
Was attending Tour de Cure, a major fundraiser for cancer research, so area was fully booked.
If you can’t honour your contract, you must make things right.
If management is reading this, you should understand that word spreads quickly at events like this, over 2000 attendees.

It was good !

Unfortunately the air conditioner was overwhelmed by ... forest fire smoke? And the ceiling fan rattled and continually hit one of the control cords. The Bar below was noisy, and the noise in the parking lot outside the bar sounded raucous and aggressive. Not conducive for a pleasant nights sleep. Too many motorcycles with little or no muffler?? Too bad.

Me and my wife loved the history of this place. We had the most amazing time together in a historic place with a hotel such as this.
3.8
Good job.
3.8
The only thing I thought was disappointing was the breakfast eggs. The selection of breakfast foods was fine. It would have been nice to have mugs instead of paper cups for coffee
3.8
This hotel was horrible. Windows above the doors that face the bed. Our room smelt like bleach with an underlying smell I couldn’t place. I had hives on my legs from sitting on the bed. We spent a total of 20 minutes before we grabbed our stuff and went and stayed at the coast. The entire hotel uses PIN codes to access the doors allowing anyone to give their code away to the front door. No one working the front desk from 11-7am in the morning to talk to about our concerns so when we called the next day to ask them for a full refund and they denied us. I would never recommend staying here to anyone
3.8
It was a cool place to stay in a historical building. We like that it is being restored and preserved.
3.8
Most staff were very put out when asked for anything. Our room had one towel and when I asked for more I was told to bring mine down and they would exchange it. No face cloth or hand towels.
3.8
Absolutely hated the bed. Killed my lower back. Watch out in the tub too, it’s not made for anyone over 120 lbs.
The staff is a bit on the colder side and all have a pattern of complaining. I doubt I would ever return to this hotel and will look for something else the next time I come to Chilliwack.
