Hotel restaurant closed, other option in the area very pricy and not value for money.

Loved the view, the food, the setting, the staff!!
The only downside was there was no AC in the room, but during the evening with our window open it was cool nights so it evened out:)

This is my preferred hotel in the Alsace. I have stayed here several times. Rooms 105 and 108 overlook the villages church. Rooms 116 (perfect for 3) or 117 overlook the vineyards and Chateau Haute Koenigsburg. The service is impecable. I can walk to the town’s restaurants through the hotel’s garden.

Good hotel, beautiful setting (the town is something out of a fairytale) and the cleanliness is good to excellent, with nice restocking of water/coffee/snacks each day which is appreciated. The cons were the bar area which was small and crowded (not sure why you would have it set in the lobby instead of the downstairs "cave") and the same poor guy working the front desk had to run over to make drinks, which caused service to be super slow and not so great. The spa was also very small and more of just a room inside the lobby, which again was just an odd use of space. The potential of having an outside bar or a full bar in the cave would be amazing! But unfortunately they don't agree. The second con was the restaurant; its pretty expensive and is just so so (maybe 3/5 stars) for dinner, and the breakfast being $18 per person is pretty steep for cheese, bread and cereal. You have to boil your own eggs and the hot area of cooked meats was always basically empty and barely warm. Our last day there, there was only one buy working all of the breakfast so everything was out, he was super stressed, the coffee machine ran out of milk, we waited 20 minutes for bread, no croissants etc. Overall the hotel was nice and we would stay again due to the location (nice quiet town), the cleanliness, daily cleaning, comfort of the bed (although the room we paid for looked a bit sparse compared to the photos), and most of the employees which were very kind. Room for improvement on the food/service

Church bells nearby will wake you at 7am and not let you sleep until after 10pm.

Having previously stayed here, we looked forward to returning!! There are many hotels, Gites, etc., in the region to choose from. This hotel is the one to choose. It is a fantastic location to enjoy all of Alsace. The room was large, and breakfast was very good. The staff were wonderful, from the time we arrived, breakfast and even departure. We can’t wait to return!

Great place to stay on the Alsace wine trail. Rooms are excellent - shower was among the best I have had in France in terms of water pressure and relaxation.
The hotel has an amazing front terrace area which overlooks the valley -- with ample outdoor furniture. Perfect place to relax with a glass of wine or a beer.
One issue we had which I reported to hotel the next day - they have outdoor lighting - a large spotlight was pointed at a tree outside of our room - but was also shining directly into our room. We had to fully draw the drapes cutting off the ventilation from the open window which is required for this older building. While we had a fan,
Recommend that you reserve dining ahead of time if you want to eat at the hotel's restaurant - we had to eat elsewhere because we did not reserve. But, this seems to be the pattern for most of the Alsace area.

Intrusive questions at check-in, annoying and unnecessary. Result slow check-in.

Lovely hotel in an equally lovely wee village. Breakfast is plentiful and well-prepared. The staff is helpful and friendly. I would stay again.

Beautiful location in a beautiful little town below the Haut Koenigsbourg, close to Riquewihr and Ribeauville, and reasonable distance to Colmar for a day trip.

Beautiful location at the edge of the village at the foot of the mountain and vineyards.

All good except my only criticism is the lack of air-conditioning. A fan in the room is not quite the answer.

Our stay at Hôtel Val-Vignes was Excellent. Great breakfast, nice location and close to nature. Especially worth mentioning was that all the staff were great. They were very helpful, serviceminded and genuinely nice people.

We had a wonderful time here. The town is very centric in relation to other tourist destinations such as Riquewhir, Colmar, and the Chateau of Haut Koenisburg. The rooms have beautiful views and the restaurant was great as well. Highly recommended!

Great stay in St Hippolyte and what a hotel we found. It will absolutely be one of are favorite hotels when in France. Perfectly situated for wine buyers with easy access to great producers and also when you need to store the bottles in your room. Staff is very friendly…

We stayed at this hotel for five nights and would highly recommend it. Parking is easy and free. Reception, restaurant and are extremely helpful and friendly and the room we had was spacious and spotless with a sensational view. The restaurant is also very good. It’s a short walk to the pretty village of Saint-Hippolyte with restaurants and wineries for degustation! The whole place has a wonderful, relaxed air. We were sad to leave and we would love to come back. Maybe the WiFi is a bit hit and miss, but who cares?

Arriving at this hotel is almost chocking since it is surrounded by the most beautiful village, truly fairytale-esque.
The hotel is lovely, situated at the base of a dramatic landscape which also include Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg. The rooms are large, clean, elegantly decorated and has comfortable beds.
We had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel and the food was perfect.
The hotel-staff were pleasant and helpful, a joy to deal with.

Nice location, very friendly staff speaking French, English and German. Good kitchen, dinner and breakfast very good.
Rooms without airco, which wasn’t very enjoyable at temperatures above 30 degrees.

Arrived late evening to find out the hotel is in a very sketchy neighborhood with No car access to property. Had to park a block away and carry our own suitcases first to the hotel and then to the room. Far cry from what you expect from a 4star hotel.
0.5 / 5.0
This is the first 4-star hotel I've stayed that has no air-conditioning. The only aircon is in the restaurant. The receptionist said that it was due to the fact that this is a historical building and they cannot hack the walls to install the aircon in the rooms or the reception area. With high summer temperatures, the room was unbearably hot. We could not sleep in the night. My wife had to go downstairs to get some cool air - and got 5 mosquito bites immediately. Avoid.

Excellent hotel, comfortable, great views, lovely terrace, great local village and near but removed from main road.

We had a great long weekend with a very nice feeling of being welcome as guests by a friendly personnel willing to share the nice discoveries of the region, village, wine, cuisine, festivities, etc. Food and service was great. St Hippolyte and the view from the hotel terrace are greatly relaxing. Also very close to other more touristy villages. Not the last time we stay here!

The place suited us very well, on our road trip in the lovely wine region of Alsace. It was a welcome peaceful stay from the previous nights in the middle of touristy towns. I highly recommend it.

The view from the room was great. Room itself is not so special. Just the average size room.
