Love the location and size of lot. But badly outdated. Toilet not installed properly when they changed flooring. Bed hurt my back. In so much pain I canceled my return trip there (on my way back from Montreal. At one time probably was an excellent resort. Now I wouldn’t send my worst enemy there. Neeo new proper beds and proper installation of toilets every done there cheap cheap. Looks like run by slumlords

Room was comfortable and as advertised.
Lacking exhaust fan in the bathroom & walls are thin as we woken up two straight nights by younger kids partying in room next to ours till 2am

Wow…there are no words. This hotel “resort” must have been lovely in its heyday but it is now run down and just dirty. Our room #52, was infested with cobwebs and spiders and black mold in the ceiling and bathroom. We had to ask 3 times and then threaten to leave before the guy got off his phone and came to take care of the spiders and webs. The bathroom faucet looks like it has never been cleaned and the paint was peeling in the tub. The bed was comfortable overall but the pillows were small and flat and the bed was slightly tilted down because of the uneven floors. I was terrified that there would be bedbugs so I didn’t sleep very well because of this. Thankfully there weren’t. Breakfast was simple but filled the void. Toast, muffins, yogurt, apples coffee, tea and juice.
It was only $110 but I wouldn’t stay again. It needs a complete deep clean and Reno. Grounds could be beautiful with some tlc.

Nothing negative to say. Affordable prices. Location is good close to many places staff is very friendly and courteaous. Comfortable bed, rooms are clean. Cozy quiet area. Would definitely go bad.

Cheap, good and quiet. Not to far from Gananoque.

Indoor and outdoor pools.

Nice place to lay your head if you are looking just for a place to sleep. Dated but does the trick and is a good price.

This property is extremely outdated and not worth the price. The air conditioners are very noisy and don't function properly. There are unpleasant smells in the rooms, likely from mold or old furniture. The pool is also in very poor condition. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and a waste of money.

Old property

Pretty old hotel but the room was very clean. The breakfast was not a breakfast but whatever. The staff is nice.

This is a charming place that would have been amazing in the 1980’s when it was last updated. It’s a bit tired & the beds are too soft. The breakfast only just counts as breakfast as the selection is minimal & the coffee is so weak that it could be mistaken for bath water.
But the price is right & it’s in a charming location & could be an amazing spot with some attention to details. One can see what a 1908’s resort looks like in 2024.
Oh, find a way to clean the sand, it gets everywhere

Needs updating, cosmetically, electrical, 1980s phone didnt work, one outlet for two lamps, no microwave, but a half bar fridge...but I caught a great price. Not much interaction with staff but pleasant when I did.

This is our second time to stay in Colonial Resort. This time we got a room in the back row, the view was great, parking lot was huge so it was very easy to park the vehicle. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We like this place and will be there again.

Great local for families and solo female travellers. Its a quaint motel resort with a pool and hot tub. Parking area is fully lighted up at night for safety. Great value and location, safe are very friendly.

The breakfast was poor... but the hotel is beautiful, it is sad to see such a beautiful structure with so low attendance.

The staff of the hotel is very kind and nice.

Terrible, but pricey

Avoid. But since you believe it won't be like this for you, and you really need to economize, at least write a follow-up review saying I was right.
It's a very weird feeling when within 15 minutes you desperately don't want to be here, knowing that you will never under any circumstance be refunded (rather shady), and every single waking thought is "I can't wait to get out of here". You can't take a shady operating practice and bad customer experience and hide it behind the word "policy" to try to make it seem legitimate.
Both bed lamps could never function again although they were still there. The shower had less water coming out of it than was coming out of the part near the taps. The only available electrical outlet can't hold a plug in it. Unusable tennis court. If something is broken, it'll be broken and unavailable forever. No room service. After leaving this motel and getting to the next motel, it was a relief to be somewhere quiet, clean, functioning, maintained and run by people in the business of providing accommodations. Ignore the follow-up response which says "we never ... before", blames the customer for its own bad customer experience, and puts the onus on the customer to initiate a request for things that every other hotel in Canada already provides because that's what hotels do (but not this one).
Later I saw a review that said it's like a motel in a third world country. Enough said?

Clean but somewhat rundown

It's alright for the price your getting it for. Just wish that you would have a microwave in your room.

Not clean

Very quiet and large property. Its convenient, a tennis court. The service and staff are good. The breakfast items may be increased a one or two, especially the egg item. Other than that, its very good.

6th year in a row we’ve come here. Be back next year.

We stayed in the 2 person jacuzzi suite, small ac in this room and didn’t cool down during the day therefore we asked for a fan and were accommodated. Otherwise it was a nice room for the price.

Close to the downtown

Great stay , nice pools , reems have been remodeled . Not the Ritz , humble , clean and cozy
3.5
The property was out dated, could use a total over hall from rug, paint, bathroom and curtains , over priced, musty smelling, window did not lock, an electrical outlet did not work. Water pressure was good in the shower

good value

I stayed for one night. It's hard to put a real review for one night. Just to say the room was clean, quiet, and everything in was working.

My husband and I spent a night at the Colonial Resort, Gananoque, Ontario, in our way back from Montreal to Toronto. We were pleased with our choice as this resort is affordable, located far enough from the highway, in a safe, quiet environment, offering more privacy than a common motel. The breakfast offered is basic, but it is a plus onsite. The room was very clean and equipped with a coffee maker, a small fridge and an A/C device. There are many good restaurant on the main street of this charming town, just at 7 min. drive from the resort, and you can take a nice walk around.
We recommend this resort for everyone who is on route and needs to make a stop or would like to spend a weekend there.

Was dirty with bugs on the wall floor beds. Urine stains on the floor. Smell was disgusting. Window screens all riped and full of webs. Worst part booked three nights and wouldn’t give a refund at all. Worst place ever . Went to Comfort Inn ended up being cheaper and was so clean and relaxing.

Non professional attitude of the receptionist.
