What a welcome sight after a long drive! Steele’s Cottage is situated on the heights above Vicksburg’s riverfront and the Mississippi River, in a quiet leafy setting. The cottage is an attractive classic, as was our comfortable room - Mrs. Steele’s Bedroom. We’ll long remember our good night’s sleep, tasty dinner at Rusty’s Riverside Grill, and pleasant breakfast in the elegant Duff Green Mansion. A highly recommended experience!

Steele Cottage was a charming, well kept, and very clean place to stay. We rented MaeMae's room and liked how it was apart from the other rooms. We also enjoyed having breakfast at the Duff Green Mansion along with touring this home. This was included in the price. We would highly recommend staying here.

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cottage with its unique furniture.
The breakfast at Duff Green was exquisite. We also recommend the complimentary house tour at Duff Green Mansion.

Very communicative property manager who went above and beyond during our stay

The stay was great but the heat made the room we were in too hot and we didn't have hot water.

Our stay was actually in the mansion, and not the cottage. We loved it so very much. The staff is fantastic. So very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The breakfast was amazing. We only have wonderful memories from our stay there, and would not hesitate to go back.

Pet friendly, old, quaint property with modern updates in bathroom.

We’ll kept up and very historically homey. You do have a very large bathroom outside the bedroom for the Swords room. The other two rooms have en-suite bathrooms.

Need to have table? By shower for body wash, shampoo. Glasses in bathroom.

This was an amazing experience-beautiful home and room in an historical house. The included breakfast that was hosted in a wonderful mansion several blocks away was incredible, as was the tour afterwards.

Amazing! Such a cute cottage. Stayed at Steele cottage. Breakfast was amazing and it was at Duff mansion. 10 out of 10!

I loved the decor inside the home. The place really made it feel like our hoke away from home. The breakfast was amazing! The hospitality was also wonderful. We will be back next year. Thanks again for allowing us to stay and being so patient with us!

We enjoyed staying in a house that is approaching 200 years old. Our room was full of period pieces and it felt like going back in time. A great experience

If you’re wondering what it’s like to stay in a house almost 200 years old, this is the perfect solution. The property is decorated in period furniture and really gives you a sense of another period in history. Location is ideal for visiting Vicksburg sites as well. The breakfasts at Duff Green were awesome also.

Terrific historic home in historic district in Vicksburg. If you like history you will love this place. Walking distance to restaurants and historic downtown

The breakfast, staff, and tour of the Duff Green Mansion were the highlights. Short walk (5-7 minutes) from Steele Cottage to Duff Green for the breakfast and tour. The staff at Duff Green Mansion are what really made this a trip to remember. Tonya gave us a tour of the mansion after a great breakfast and good company with other guest at the table, and she was excellent and could have spent most of the day just talking with her and the rest of the touring group. And it was nice to meet her son, who showed us his favorite picture in the home during the tour.
Walnut Hills is directly across the street and was nice for dinner (recommend the fried chicken).
Only real complaint was the cleaning crew did not leave enough towels.

I like the check in process, but I was not aware of the bathroom situation. I am a bit older and need to be closer to the bathroom. I was impressed with the sleeping accommodations.

We had a delightful stay! We were headed to Jackson but I couldnt find a place there worth booking. So, at the last minute, I found the Steele Cottage. As we had booked late, we had to call to get check-in details. Very easy.
Our room, the JM Swords, was nice with a queen sized bed that was high off the floor. Glad they had a step to help get me up there. Our bathroom was across the hall. I was not used to using a clawfoot tub with a sprayer, but it worked out well. If this type of bathing is not for you, I suggest pucking one of the rooms with a shower.
The meeting room was great, stocked with beverages and a good amount of seating. The best part was the breakfast at the Duff Green mansion. It was a three-course breakfast served around a big table with the other guests. We had an entertaining breakfast getting to know the guests, followed by a house tour.
The ladies that work at these two places are outstanding! They go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. I highly recommend this place. But, if you are willing to spend a little more, check out the Duff Mansion.

When I stayed here, because of COVID it was self check-in; no staff on site. The only problem was that once I went inside, I did not know which room I had booked - so as a suggestion, it might be a good idea for the owners to somehow indicate who booked which room. They offer a breakfast at their sister location, about a 10-min walk away which was elegant and delicious! A staff member there gave us a tour of the building and talked about its history which was interesting.

We had the whole house to ourselves. It is a very quite neighborhood. Walnut Hills restaurant across the street is very good too

It was like being a guest at someones house instead of a hotel. I can't think of anything we didn't like. We really enjoyed the breakfast and complimentary tour of Duff Greene Mansion. That was one of the most memorable things about our trip.

interesting history, tour of house would have been fun

We enjoyed the historic setting and area. Had not realized the room we chose included the bathroom across the hall, not in our room. The breakfast was in a nearby beautiful mansion but felt it was not an adequate breakfast for a B & B. The staff did not seem to fit the setting and were disruptive during the tour of the mansion, which was interesting history.

Unique, historic old home. Lovely walk and breakfast at associated mansion. Room was very clean and spacious.

Second time at this quiet little place. My dog and I always feel comfortable here.

Phone receptionist had not received clear instructions from managers on opening key box. The only thing she knew about the bottom button was that it was "to reset" the combination to start over. Who would have guessed that you have to push two different buttons AFTER entering the code? Managers need to provide clear instructions. This is not the recpetionists fault.

The room was beautiful and comfortable. We had the Dixie in the mansion. The shower was the best (super powerful). Breakfast was fantastic and the tour after was amazing. We were arriving past 6pm and the owner was great and registration was a breeze. They were able to upgrade us to the main house due to occupancy and we are so appreciative.

It is a unique historic antebellum cottage with lots of character, great fun being snuggled up in a cozy 4 poster bed while an epic thunder storm raged outside, fantastic place to eat, Walnut Hills, literally 10 steps across the street and the included breakfast at Duff Greene mansion was beautiful and yummy

I highly recommend Steele Cottage...it oozes with character and charm and the breakfast at Duff Mansion with the complimentary tour was a highlight of our trip!

Our stay was great. Walked to restaurants/bars/museum etc.
Our only drawback was our clawfoot tub didn't have a shower curtain and the floor could get wet...and the curtain could not be raised to let the morning sun in..otherwise it was a great place..loved the tour of the mansion after our breakfast..
