The photos of the property end up staying in student accommodation around the back of the house
Also, they said they have a restaurant which is only available for people that are hooked on courses. You can’t order food at the restaurant.

Pretty grounds, good location, great value, good breakfast.

The name and photos in the accommodation did not feel reflective of what was offered. The building my accommodation was in looks from the 70s/80s, which really contrasts to the 'Estate'. Within the accommodation the decor feels tired and basic. Perhaps that reflects the price, but I personally think you get much better value for money at a Premier Inn. This was all amplified by the fact that my room had barely warm water in the shower and the heating didn't come on at all. Cancelled the other stay I had booked. Pros are that the grounds are lovely, and the bed was also comfortable.

Frustratingly the issues with the property are known by the staff -
Leaky roof , Poor housekeeping-food debris left in sink from previous guests, floor had not been cleaned, fridge seals need cleaning (fridge doesn’t close so just makes a horrible noise), grease pool on cooker top.
Rodents running from fridge to cooker.
With all of the above a free breakfast was offered as compensation however this was a bit of a disaster as well, all tables were dirty, no available cutlery, fried eggs were rock hard!
On check out the rodents were dismissed as ‘in keeping with the character of the property’
Overall - a visit from the Hotel Inspector is needed.

The cottage "Posey" was lovely, cool in the summer air as well as the shower was large enough for my boyfriend size.
The reception lady had a kind welcome and smile, gave great directions to our cottage.
Will happily return for longer visit to explore the grounds

Firstly, this is not my first time staying at this property, but it will be my last. Earlier this year, my stay was wonderful, but this time was a different story. I think it's important to let people know about my experience beforehand so they can make informed choices and not be disappointed.
Here are a few things to be aware of:
1. The on-site restaurant was closed during my stay, so I had to either go out to get food or order takeout to my room. And bar was closed too. It’s would have been helpful to know this in advance.
2. The pictures on Expedia are incorrect, specifically for the cottage. The images were misleading, as the self-catering cottage There are self- catering but not show. . I advise bringing everything you think you'll need, as as was no food and drinks. When we stay. .
3. The website implies that breakfast is included, but this is not the case. I stayed on 21/12/23 and was disappointed to find out that there was no complimentary breakfast as advertised.
4. On the morning of my check-out, I spoke to a receptionist who informed me that the property is now focused more on hosting conferences and weddings. They seemed less interested in addressing my concerns, giving more priority to these events than to the guests. They even asked if I had booked directly with them instead of using a third-party site.
Although I have stayed at this property multiple times before without any issues, I have decided that I will not be returning. There are many other

Travelled here to stay for family wedding
Located on sprawling wooded estate
Main building originally a private home, and is stunning. Accommodation in scattered motel type buildings throughout the estate.
Travelled 7 hours, in bad conditions, no food or bar available in this hotel due to hosting another function!
Take away menus in the room, local take always a few minutes drive, plus delivery options, but what we’re we supposed to eat it with?, as we had no cutlery/ crockery and reception quite a walk.
Ended up opting to drive and pick up fish and chips so we could at least order in trays and get forks. Not good for a hotel to have no facilities
Bedroom small, very comfortable bed. Usual tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom no window, so not ideal, and they are providing shampoo/ conditioner etc in small plastic bottles although there was a shower gel dispenser in the shower, it was empty. Please stop using these single use plastics here you can!
Breakfast good. Good quality, sliced bread dry as it was just left out uncovered. I felt like we were very late customers on a coach holiday when we went in at 9.30 (breakfast available until 10.30). Huge shared tables, with staff emptying tables around us - fair enough, but also taking off table clothes and throwing on the floor. We sat in there surrounded by 3 large empty tables. Just leave the cloths on until 10.30!
Housekeeping noisy in morning, couldn’t sleep in even if you wanted.

We had booked the Solamons to stay because we had an evening wedding reception. We also booked lunch for 14:00 with friends who were also staying there. We arrived early so our rooms were not ready. We met out friends in the dining room for coffee only to find out there was no lunch provided until 17:00.This was not explained to us even when we got a phone call confirming our room and a table was booked for 14:00.They could only offer us a cream tea. This was very disappointing that no one had informed us.Apart from that everything else was ok and we did receive a refund. But would not stay there again.

Room was in poor decorative order. Lots of marks on walls. Hairs around shower. Toe nail in bed side cabinet and several cobwebs.
Arrived for breakfast to tables covered in used plates and banana skins Breakfast was extremely underwhelming. Luke warm food and greasy overcooked eggs. Few bits of cut up fruit available to have with yoghurt looked very unappealing.
Grounds were beautiful though and very well kept.

have had multiple stays at the hotel this year, enjoying the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. However, this changes when there is a wedding taking place. The wedding party tends to behave as if they own the hotel, disregarding the needs of other guests. It would make sense for them to have their own designated area to ensure a better experience for everyone. Prior to making a reservation, I highly recommend inquiring about any upcoming weddings to avoid any inconvenience. Overall, I have had wonderful stays at this hotel before this particular incident occurred.

Good friendly and helpful staff. Nice conservatory where a group of us had dinner. Attractive lounge for pre-dinner drinks. Attractive grounds with walks. Accommodation in the garden cottages was up a steep hill but there was always the possibility of being given a lift in the golf buggy which we took advantage of. Good plentiful breakfast, self service, Continental and cooked.

We booked the venue for our wedding!
Solomon’s itself is gorgeous.
The rooms don’t really go with the beautiful design of Salomons. They are fairly small (including the “club room” for the bride and groom”) however the venue makes up for what the room lacks. Beautiful grounds with a little lake, bridge and lots of greenary, great for pictures and just for a stroll around. Lovely quiet and picturesque place to be.
Nice little museum inside to tell you the history of the venue too.
Staff are brilliant! So helpful! Our wedding planner Melissa was incredible and made the planning and the day itself run smoothly and most importantly stress free!
Thank you to all the Salomons team

Beautiful space and great value for the one night. Staff were wonderful and breakfast was good. Unfortunately it was quite hot, and there is no AC. They do supply a small fan and windows do open, but this also meant bugs were able get in from outside.

Nice and quite.

Fantastic grounds and friendly staff. The room was adequate if a little small, so it was reasonable value for money but not great. Glad we stayed but would likely look for an alternative next time we're in the area

Pleasantly surprised considering the price and some of the reviews.
Worried on arrival as there was a wedding booked which we didn’t know about. It didn’t affect us in the end and we couldn’t hear it from our room.
The room was clean and comfortable, it could do with upgrading to air conditioning though.
Breakfast was nice and plentiful.
The surrounding grounds were nice to sit in and walk around.

Really nice overall. Lovely breakfast (inclusive in the room deal). Looking forward to spending more time here again. Would like to explore the grounds — the gardens looked fantastic but we were only there for one night.

I was at the lower floor room right under the corridor, other hotel guests walking were very noisy.
Other than this, the stay was brilliant

A fantastic setting for a stay in beautiful grounds. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the main building is enchanting. Had a delightful lunch...with vegan and veggie options. Reception very friendly and helpful. Wonderful.

Very poor signage to the property and also when you got into site. I called reception as I couldn’t find it only for the receptionist to say she wasn’t on site, didn’t know the site and was only there to answer the phone. It was the blind leading the blind. She also said that I was the only one to have said they couldn’t find reception. But once I did find it I had 2 other people stop me to ask for help!!!! I then didn’t feel as useless. If you get a room in Canterbury area it’s basically a 1970 housing estate with windows that only open at the top and with a mirror finish! It felt like I was in a nightclub. They provide ear plugs which is thoughtful as you need them as the walls are paper thin. The room was ok. I stopped in room 27 and there was a lack of detail in the room. Dirt under the radiator in the bathroom, yea and coffee stains on the shelf unit under the hospitality tray and the carpet could have done with a hoover in the corners. The staff didn’t seem very interested in their jobs. Breakfast was ok and warm. I was going to stop a second night but decided to try somewhere else, which says it all.

A lovely one night stay here for our friends wedding. Hotel room building is definitely in a different style to the main building, but of a nice standard and comfortable. The grounds of Salomon Estate are beautiful and relaxing, perfect for having a wander.

Perfect throughout. Easy & friendly check-in. Very clean and quiet room. Breakfast choice and quality excellent. Fascinating small museum about the history of the estate and its motoring founders, and with a rare example of a Grade 1 listed organ. The only concern for some could be the distance and gradient of the slope to the accommodation from reception/breakfast area, or in bad weather.

From check in to check out the service was excellent, beautiful estate.

After a 5hr drive I did not envisage no food or accommodation at main building. I was then informed that local delivery food menu and contact details are available in the room. NOT !
Breakfast was wonderful

Lovely estate with a huge mansion as the main building. It has its own museum to read about the original owner of the place, lovely garden for a walk and apparently also has forest trails to explore. Really nice to be able to imagine what it must've been loving in such a luxurious estate. They had Xmas decorations up when we were there which was lovely, also beautiful study room and dining hall. Breakfast served in the conservatory with lovely views across the valley, and the quality of the breakfast was really good. Room was a bit small but that didn't bother us as they're quite new and well maintained. Would definitely return.

Breakfast was a little of a let down (no menu), no breakfast items out.
Dinner was very basic about 9 items.
Restaurant closes at 8pm.

It didn’t bode well that when we got to the room there were ear plugs next to the bed.
We were on the ground floor, the noise from people walking around on the floors above was terrible, foot steps, doors banging. We ended up checking out the same night and driving home.
The grounds and bar/restaurant are lovely.

The estate was lovely. However our room was similar to student accommodation. It was located on the ground floor. Where other guests walked above us on a connected walkway. We could hear every single person!! Must have been the worst room in the hotel. Definitely the worst room we’ve stayed in! It was supposed to be a treat for my husband, instead we had a miserable time and no sleep. The noise was constant in the evening and began again at 6.23!!This is the first bad review I’ve written.
