About this house rental

Originally built in 1888, the Regeneration Lodge was one of the earliest properties in Cañon City. This 2,800 sqft property consists of 3 oversized bedrooms and 3 baths, making it ideal for families, couples trips, remote/nomadic workers.

Staying at the Regeneration Lodge, you will be surrounded by living plants, antique furniture, and plenty of locally-sourced goods. This hub in Cañon City is the ideal place for those looking for something walkable to everything—Main Street, Veteran's Park, the Royal Gorge Express

For summer travelers who care: The house runs on a swamp cooler and window A/C system. We have fans and with windows opened in afternoon/evening the temperature is managed just fine. Swamp coolers are the common standard for energy efficiency/effectiveness of a cooling system in such a deserty area. Additionally, being built in the 1800s the lodge does not have the facilities for a modernized HVAC system.

We met our family in Cañon City for the train ride. Rental is the perfect spot. Loved the back deck and all the plants.

The house itself is very interesting. The only issue we had was the temperature - two small window units plus the swamp cooler were not enough to cool the large home. Like another reviewer, we are from Texas and were pretty miserable. Canon City was HOT during the day and nothing could keep up. The upstairs was especially warm. The great things: location - easy walk to restaurants, ice cream parlor and shopping; train - it's parked behind the house; deer - had a large group of deer hanging out behind the house; plants - beautiful plants.

The property was great and looked exactly like the pictures. We did not get information on how to check in or check out and had to make calls to try to get a hold of the property owner. The cleaning supplies were slim. We needed to go buy our own garbage bags. Other than small bumps it was everything I hoped it would be.

Overall great experience. A little confusion on check-in (entry code issues); fortunately, caretaker happened to be there, and was able to figure things out. The house is older; a little funky, interesting layout; worked well for us. It's closer to 10 minute walk to where you actually get onto the train, easy walk and lovely to not deal with parking. Block over from the historic district and self-guided architecture tour, and walking distance from the history museum, too.

Over all the place was lovely! Being Close to things we all did was even better. Did a curb side pick up for groceries was the best way to go. We are from Texas, when i book a place i look for certain places that do offer ac. This place says ac. But in fact it was two small window units for a 2800 sq ft house. One n the kitchen and one in a room that is way to big for that unit. I’m not above a window unit by no means and it would have been great if it had one in the downstairs bedroom by the kitchen. And upstairs with the living room n other bedroom. So if you’re a person that needs it to be cold this is not the place. My husband is cold natured and he was miserable all 4 nights. I was drained quickly from all our activities due to no sleep. Second thing is I’m not happy about finding dog hair in all the bed sheets. Was extremely disappointed in this. I don’t hate dogs but finding dark dog hair was a huge turn off. I had to wash all the sheets the first night and i was already upset over the house being hot then im over here making beds. So to say the least it was not a good vacation for my family to relax in. Hotel in Texas on the way home i finally slept. Sorry that this is the issue but it’s the truth. I will not let this happen to us again next year where ever we may go.
