About this house rental
Originally built in 1888, the Regeneration Lodge was one of the earliest properties in Cañon City. This 2,800 sqft property consists of 3 oversized bedrooms and 3 baths, making it ideal for families, couples trips, remote/nomadic workers.
Staying at the Regeneration Lodge, you will be surrounded by living plants, antique furniture, and plenty of locally-sourced goods. This hub in Cañon City is the ideal place for those looking for something walkable to everything—Main Street, Veteran's Park, the Royal Gorge Express
For summer travelers who care: The house runs on a swamp cooler and window A/C system. We have fans and with windows opened in afternoon/evening the temperature is managed just fine. Swamp coolers are the common standard for energy efficiency/effectiveness of a cooling system in such a deserty area. Additionally, being built in the 1800s the lodge does not have the facilities for a modernized HVAC system.

We met our family in Cañon City for the train ride. Rental is the perfect spot. Loved the back deck and all the plants.

The house itself is very interesting. The only issue we had was the temperature - two small window units plus the swamp cooler were not enough to cool the large home. Like another reviewer, we are from Texas and were pretty miserable. Canon City was HOT during the day and nothing could keep up. The upstairs was especially warm.
The great things: location - easy walk to restaurants, ice cream parlor and shopping; train - it's parked behind the house; deer - had a large group of deer hanging out behind the house; plants - beautiful plants.

The property was great and looked exactly like the pictures. We did not get information on how to check in or check out and had to make calls to try to get a hold of the property owner. The cleaning supplies were slim. We needed to go buy our own garbage bags. Other than small bumps it was everything I hoped it would be.

Overall great experience. A little confusion on check-in (entry code issues); fortunately, caretaker happened to be there, and was able to figure things out. The house is older; a little funky, interesting layout; worked well for us. It's closer to 10 minute walk to where you actually get onto the train, easy walk and lovely to not deal with parking. Block over from the historic district and self-guided architecture tour, and walking distance from the history museum, too.

Over all the place was lovely! Being Close to things we all did was even better. Did a curb side pick up for groceries was the best way to go. We are from Texas, when i book a place i look for certain places that do offer ac. This place says ac. But in fact it was two small window units for a 2800 sq ft house. One n the kitchen and one in a room that is way to big for that unit. I’m not above a window unit by no means and it would have been great if it had one in the downstairs bedroom by the kitchen.
And upstairs with the living room n other bedroom. So if you’re a person that needs it to be cold this is not the place. My husband is cold natured and he was miserable all 4 nights. I was drained quickly from all our activities due to no sleep. Second thing is I’m not happy about finding dog hair in all the bed sheets. Was extremely disappointed in this. I don’t hate dogs but finding dark dog hair was a huge turn off. I had to wash all the sheets the first night and i was already upset over the house being hot then im over here making beds. So to say the least it was not a good vacation for my family to relax in. Hotel in Texas on the way home i finally slept. Sorry that this is the issue but it’s the truth. I will not let this happen to us again next year where ever we may go.

Every room is spacious. Interesting plants and decor. Clean and beautiful indoor architecture. Beds are all very comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked with appliances and cookware. Bountiful supply of spices.
Could use some soft furniture adjacent to kitchen. Lots of unused space there.
Bed in furthest back bedroom is extremely wobbly.
Shower head in green bathroom needs attention. Bracket is falling off and water barely trickles out.
Minor issues in a great home and hassle free rental. We would stay here again.

A very unique property with a wonderfully curated style. Very accommodating for 3 couples, 3 bedrooms with 3 separate bathrooms! Enjoyed the multiple spaces to gather in and the handful of things to do within walking distance from the property! 10/10 would definitely stay again!

Very comfortable for 3 couples with separate bathrooms and living spaces. Had a great time with our adult kids with a camp fire one night in the back yard. Great location and owner and manager were exceptionally easy to work with. Great stay! Thank you!

This property is in an excellent location. The place is very clean and provides all one needs for a pleasant stay. We didn’t want to leave when our vacation was over. We plan to return next year and stay in this awesome home again. The owner and property manager made us feel welcome. If you haven’t been to Canon City before, you will fall in love with this historic city and the friendly people in the city. We give this property eight thumbs up. Each member of our party really enjoyed our stay and loved this home.

The house is very nicely appointed: the kitchen has everything you need with all new equipment, the beds and pillows are super comfy, bedrooms are quite roomy with their own sitting areas, and the entire house is very clean. The house itself is situated between two commercial buildings on the main drag, but it was surprisingly quiet and it is only a block to the quaint main street part of town. If you are looking for some nice outdoor space to hang out in, there is a lovely local park along the river which is a short walk away.
We were in town on vacation looking for some adventure and this was a great location near outfitters for river rafting/kayaking, the Royal Gorge Park, and close enough to Colorado Springs for a day trip.

Joe was great with communication. The house is very cozy and bathrooms are well stocked. Location was great for meandering to downtown shops and restaurants and right on the main highway through town. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great location. Crosswalk to cross very busy street is 400 yards away to get to Main Street's charm which is one block away. In the morning / evening jaywalking the busy street was fine. The kitchen appliances and all its utensils get an A+++. The place is pet friendly and clean enough to where you would not know that if you did not have a pet to bring. There is some minor landscaping projects going on in the yard ( JUN 2023) but it did not distract whatsoever from enjoying the deck and the house. Would stay here again and any future visit. Thank you !!!!

The place we stayed was a very nice, with lots of indoor plant which we enjoyed. The outdoor area was in process of getting a landscape upgrade which we could tell was going to be gorgeous. The place was close walking distance to eating areas, shopping and train ride. Highly recommend home.

Joe was ultra responsive and gave us some great recommendations for food. He was also very transparent about landscaping that wasn’t finished but it did not have any impact on our stay. The beds were comfy and kitchen was awesome. The location is perfect for people traveling in to see the Royal Gorge! We walked to the train and downtown to every meal with ease. The Bridge was a 15 minute easy drive. Would absolutely stay again!

This unique, beautifully decorated home was the perfect fit for our family. Walking distance to many cute shops, bars and restaurants. Quick 20min drive to Royal Gorge park. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and we all slept very well in this peaceful, plant-lover’s home.

The Jungalow is right in the middle of Canon City. If you're there to raft, ride bikes, ride the train or tour the local museums and art center this house is perfectly situated.
It actually does have three bedrooms and three bathrooms and a great deck off the back of the house about 150 yards from the Arkansas.
Its walking distance to restaurants and our new favorite coffee spot City on a Hill.
Joe and the house offered hospitality in the middle of town but also a relaxing oasis and great outdoor space.

My family and I really enjoyed Joe’s place. It was clean and the beds were very comfortable! The Royal gorge train is right outside the back door and you can hear the music playing from it when it comes back which was neat. It was super convenient for us to walk over to train too when we rode it. It only took about five minutes to get there. Definitely recommend staying here!
