About this apartment rental
THIS BOOKING IS FOR THE ENTIRE LOWER FLOOR OF THE BUILDING - You’ll have the entire floor to yourself. Upstairs is a separate rental unit called UP ON MAIN (its vrbo listing number is 3016393)
This beautifully unique space is the (completely private) lower floor of a very grand old building right in the vibrant heart of Eureka Springs. Originally opened in 1885 as Harp’s Grocery, the building has long been a fixture in the coolest, most distinctive historic town in the Ozarks. Now updated with modern amenities, you’ll find it to be an absolute haven where your crew can relax and have a blast together. World class dining, galleries, shopping and more are all within easy walking distance; it’s just a block or two to many of the very best attractions of Eureka Springs.
Bedroom one has a queen size bed and a large flatscreen TV with an expansive cable package.
The kitchenette has a sink, a small fridge, a coffee maker, a toaster oven, a microwave, a single electric burner, plenty of plates/bowls/utensils/flatware and a large dining table.
Bedroom two has a full size bed, a flatscreen TV with DVD player and a widely varied collection of around 50 DVDs, plus a ridiculously large selection of books, board games, puzzles, etc. Bedroom two is divided from the living room area in the front of the property with a large wall of blackout curtains.
The bathroom has a shower, toilet, and sink. Please be advised that the bathroom is directly off of bedroom two, so guests sleeping in bedroom one will have to pass through to get to the bathroom.
In the living area, you’ll find a very cool double sided couch and a flatscreen TV with a Nintendo 64 hooked up with four controllers for maximum multiplayer fun. We have three games for you here: Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, and Goldeneye 64. It’s vintage Nintendo at its best!!! There’s also an acoustic guitar on the wall near the front door if you’re feeling musical.
Important info to know about your stay:
- Down on Main does not have any designated parking spots! However there’s low cost, easily accessible paid parking lots less than a block away in each direction on Main Street.
- Yes we have WIFI.
- Pets are allowed! Please just bring your own dedicated doggy blanket if your furry friend will be on the furniture. You are of course responsible for any damages incurred.
- You will receive a code to open the key box on the handle of the front door (63 North Main Street). When you check out, it is your responsibility to return the key to this box and leave the door locked. If you lose the key, you will be charged.
- Upstairs is a completely separate unit called Up on Main which is also available to rent through VRBO. However, EACH side of the stairway door locks, so ONLY you will have control if you want to unlock it. When you arrive, it’ll be locked from both sides. Both the upstairs AND the downstairs tenants will have to unlock the door from their own side if they want to open passage between the units.
- Please be aware: we will enforce our rule of maximum number of occupants. We do have security cameras on the outside of the building, and if you try to have a big crazy party in our building, you will be shut down! Jackson street (which runs along the back side of the property) has private residences where locals live and it is imperative to us that our guests respect the fact that they have families and jobs. We want you to come have fun, but PLEASE do so in a manner that doesn’t impose on anyone else.
- Pro Tip: midweek dates are generally offered at a discounted rate.
- As with all vacation rental properties, guests acknowledge that activity on the property carries with it the potential for injury due to unfamiliar terrain and layout. The topography in the area has frequent changes in elevation requiring steps and walkways that conform to the landscape, therefore, please use caution and familiarize yourself with all areas of the property. We keep the property maintained, although, all liability is waived and you are accepting the property with no assurances. Emergencies are very rare, yet, it is smart to be prepared for inclement weather, natural disaster, or injury when traveling.

It was fun. Location was really good. Loved that we could read the history of the building. We enjoyed putting a puzzle together each night

This was a perfect place to stay for the Ozark Folk Festival since many events took place just next door. Easy walking distance to all of downtown.

You can’t ask for a better location! Right on Main Street within walking distance of absolutely everything you would want to see in the main area of Eureka Springs! We felt so lucky that everything was so close and assessible. The apartment is so cool and different. So much space. Comfortable beds. If you’re a light sleeper, the street traffic might be an issue in the early morning

LOCATION. PERFECTION in the HEART of Eureka Springs. Walk or bike to all the hot spots. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in this historic hideaway. My husband and I stayed the first night on our way to pick up our kids from camp in Missouri. Kids stayed with us the 2nd night. Plenty of space for the 4 of us. It was the perfect getaway. Felt like we were staying in a Boston brownstone. Shelves of books, floor to ceiling windows, soaring ceilings, and a guitar. During our stay we hit several restaurants, canoed Kings River, and enjoyed live music. We slept so good in the clean, "high style" space. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

My daughter and I stayed here over Memorial weekend and had an amazing time. I cant quite put into words how much we loved this place. It smells like history and books. There is an entire wall of so many different books - I wish I could stay for a year to relax and read them all! They also have dvds, video games, puzzles, and board games. The beds are comfy, everything was very clean, and the location is close to everything. Matt and Samantha are exceptional hosts and respond to messages within minutes. We would definitely stay here again.

The location was good, however, do not expect to sleep in the morning .Traffic starts very early. We are older and so for us it was a step above camping with beds and bathroom. Rustic is probably the word. The couch is not a comfortable seat after a long hot day outside. No table for group games, of which there is a plentiful supply. That said it was fairly clean, beds were ok with inexpensive linens.

We loved the old converted store vibe and it was convenient everything you wanted to do.

We had a wonderful time during our stay in Eureka Springs. The accommodations were comfortable. Its an historic building, original floors and a few upgrades. The location is perfect. A short walk gets you to most of the shops and eateries downtown; and a short drive gets you to many of the attractions. We enjoyed evening walks, chatting in the park and people watching as they walked by the unit. I love reading and I love books. There is a wall of books. Name the genre/subject. You will find it! We spent several evenings sipping wine and reading on the comfy cool sofa! You will enjoy the nostalgic journey in this historic 1885 building.

Down on Main was everything we could have hoped for. In the center of everything and with a uniqueness all it's own, it was a perfect base for an Ozark getaway.

Convenient location, very clean, and it had everything we needed for a girls night in when we didn't go out!

It was a really cool apartment that was extremely close to the main Eureka Springs hub. We stayed for just a few days but each day, it was super easy to walk into the main area, shop, go back, take a break, and then go back out again a few times during the day.
The actual place is very spacious, clean, and had a lot of room. We played a bit of Mario Kart on the N64, used the fridge for a lot of the food we got in town, and relaxed a lot as well. Very nice place to be in and would love to go back again!

This converted store front was a really unique place! The place is very large with lots of space! It is a little rustic, which is expected from such a quaint old building. The only issue I had was the two TVs in the main room aren’t hooked up to any type of antenna or anything. Not enough of an issue to reduce my rating since I only have the TV on when getting ready for bed or getting ready in the morning, but it would have been nice. There were DVDs available, though. Overall, a great place to stay in Eureka and very convenient to everything. Owner was very quick to respond to any communications!

Great location! Very comfortable & charming.
No electrical outlet in bathroom. Could not use appliances there. Other than that, could not ask for a more wonderful & relaxing stay! TY!

Loved the old building. It dates back to 1885 and was a Harps grocery store back in the day. I would stay there again and would highly recommend it to others, especially if you’re looking for something unique with history.

This was the cutest most unique property. The location was absolutely perfect. You could walk to everything. I was worried about the parking, but it really wasn’t a big deal after we got there. There’s parking lots all around and free parking after 6:00 right in front of your room. The communication was wonderful, the check-in was easy it was a fun property and we will definitely be back. Thank you.

Matt was a gracious host and made us feel at home in this downtown gem. With its spacious open rooms, historical character, and prime, walkable location in downtown Eureka Springs, this was just the right place to spend our weekend.

This property is in a good location - walking distance to some shops and restaurants and an ice-cream shop is very close by. Lots of books, games and puzzles are provided. While the layout of the home worked for us as a family, it might not for everyone. One of the beds is in the living room area and the second bed is in the kitchen area so there is very little privacy. But, overall we were satisfied with the place.

This was totally what we wanted and we were thrilled that it was exactly like the pictures! It also stayed very cool which we didn't expect and were so grateful as it was very hot when we were there. Also, if you are worried about it being private, there was no issue with people walking by or peering in. We were iffy on parking. It took us a day to realize we could use metered parking by using an app. :) The metered parking literally brings you to your front door. And we walked EVERYWHERE! There is even a staircase across the street that leads directly to the Grotto where we had dinner one night. Just a great all around experience! We will be back!

Just as described, a historic old shop building in Eureka. These older buildings have a lot of character. It was just what we needed for our short stay in Eureka Springs. Matt was a very good communicator and extremely accommodating for our needs.
Thank you

Loved the place, and it was within walking distance to tons of shops and restaurants. The apartment was charming and lots of open space. Plenty of privacy, but no parking space included. We never had trouble finding paid parking but could be challenging when Main Street a little busier. Overall, great experience!

What a unique place to stay and walking distance to all the shopping and restaurants. We will return!

The property is charming and comfortable. It has everything you need and is close to many restaurants and places of interest. We spent Christmas and ended up spending a lot of time at the property, thankful for the MANY books and games provided. The host, Matthew, could not have been more helpful and responsive. We plan to go back in April and rent another of his properties. 100% recommend the town/property and most especially host!

I stayed here with my spouse and two family members. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out. We were in a great location downtown and parking was available less than a block away, so we were able to ditch our vehicle for the weekend and walk wherever we wanted to go. We had a great stay and we’ll definitely be back!
