I would have liked to give this property a glowing review, but I feel compelled to share my entire experience so you can decide for yourself.
The Great
First, the cottage is very tastefully decorated INSIDE and was very clean. I was a little shocked by all the white upholstery and pillows because that must be a nightmare to keep clean! It certainly is not low maintenance—a downfall that I will mention later. The front load washer and dryer were great and really convenient. The kitchen was very large with lots of counter space. The neighborhood is very nice, but not sure this rental is well liked by the GLARING neighbors which bothers me which I explain below.
The Bad
The house smelled like a wet dog and was full of fleas—all the upholstery is not a good mix with dogs. My dogs are on flea medicine, but many aren’t and all it takes is one careless owner. The old cottage is cute but appears to be a cheap flip and there are lots of holes in the floorboards and lots of spiders. The yard is very unkept and looks terrible compared to the neighbors. The bush by the front door covers the steps to the front door and blocks the house number. Having lived in a neighborhood myself with other short-term rentals, it really bothers me when owners don’t maintain their yard. There were also some minor annoyances like no toilet paper holder in the bathroom and the only TV was in the bedroom and not the living room.
Overall, my experience was mixed and definitely not a 10.

Cute house. Overgrown and landscaped front yard. Beautiful deck. Odd smell to the house, maybe strong cleaner? Decorated so incredibly cute! Loved having a full length mirror (actually a few). No light switches worked(except bathroom & Kitcken) Maybe we did something wrong? Lots of cobwebs and spiders everywhere. Took a shower ( had hair in it) and a spider came down to greet me. Bathroom sink doesn’t drain. Bed so comfortable, it was heavenly. Cobwebs around bed. Husband kept killing spiders. Needed to do a load of laundry but then realized I might not supposed to be doing laundry there? Cute place with a ton of potential.

This was the perfect spot for my family. We were close to food, retail and the beach. The host was amazing and the home was the perfect bright coastal/seaside vibe. The backyard was excellent for relaxing after a long day.

Cute house, only 1 bed in the entire house. The other bedroom had a air mattress, which was not very comfortable unfortunately. My only real complaint would be this huge bush that is overgrown and covers some of the steps to the entrance to the house. That really sucked because i walk with a cane and i almost missed the step coming down because the bush was as i said blocking part of the steps. Otherwise the house is super cute, big back yard, in town close to everything.

Great location with a short stay we saw the redwoods, went to the local zoo and watched the sunset on the beach

Quaint, very clean, and comfortably furnished. No air freshener needed (can trigger asthma) and salt would be good.

Clean, cozy place with great backyard for pets. In a good neighborhood that’s close to to Sequoia Park. Home was nicely decorated. Perfect for a couple: we didn’t even need the king bed in front bedroom.

Loved our stay at this house with our dog. Nice big fenced in back yard and patio area great for relaxing. Found what we needed in the kitchen and made a few meals. Comfy bed, nice bathroom, it’s a cute old house that’s been updated. Location is great - short walk to Sequoia Park where we were able to walk our dog. Short drive to downtown Eureka and the 101. Such a beautiful neighborhood with lots of big redwoods to admire. Would absolutely stay here again!

Nice upgraded window and flooring. Great fenced backyard for our little dog. Fresh cherries ready for picking. Only downside was the street noisy if you use the front bedroom with the blow-up mattress. We enjoyed our stay!

My husband and I stayed at this home for two nights in Eureka. It is an old home that was completely remodeled. It looks like a model home inside. It was nice and roomy. They had an extra bedroom which was nice for storing for luggage, etc and not be in the way. The location was central to everything.
Although the home is on a busy street, we only heard one vehicle racing down the street and one ambulance.
I thought we would here lots of traffic, but it was quiet.

This was a great little place for our small family to spend a night near the Redwood Skywalk. I loved all the plants, books, blankets and comfy furniture that made for a cozy stay.

The property was amazing! It’s old, kind of small, and a little funky, but we loved it!! I wouldn’t want to stay with kids as the furniture is all white and the only tv was in the bedroom. For the two of us it was fine, but I could see a family finding it inconvenient. The location is exactly where we wanted to be, and all the amenities were just what we needed. I would absolutely recommend and hopefully will have opportunity to visit again.

We were in Eureka to visit our son for Christmas and this cottage ended up perfect for us. The property is close to Sequoia Park and was also very close to our son's house. We had our 2 dogs with us so having the park so close was great. There is also a nice fenced back yard. Overall, enjoyed the visit.

My partner and I were traveling for the holidays and greatly enjoyed staying here. It's quiet but close to all the wondering things that Humboldt County has to offer. Beaches, redwoods, rivers, and artsy stores. It was a warm and inviting house, with a comfortable beach vibe.
