About this house rental
Casa Luz is ideal for families, small groups, and anyone seeking a comfortable, quiet, and inspirational tropical retreat. It is near El Yunque hiking trails, rainforest rivers, historic villages, and Luquillo and Fajardo beaches.
Enjoy this lovely home in the heart of the tropical mountains but close to the city and beaches. Casa Luz has spectacular tropical mountain views, three comfortable bedrooms, 360° balcony, and a centric location.
The space
This is a 3-bedroom home with pops of colors like red and yellow to complement the surroundings. Be sure to enjoy both the spacious patio and the covered outdoor breakfast area during your stay.
The huge balcony has views over the surrounding forests. The perfect retreat after long days hiking and beach (or eating your way through nearby Kiosko de Luquillo).
There are 4 beds spread between three rooms, one bathroom, plus a well-equipped kitchen, spacious indoor and outdoor living areas, and an outdoor seating area. Plus, if you're with a particularly outdoorsy group, the Yunque Trails and Zipline is just a few minutes away, perfect for day hikes and adventures.
But even if you're not interested in laying on the beach all day or hiking up mountains, the location will not disappoint. Rio Grande is steeped in history and culture, and its culinary heritage is legendary (Mofongo, anyone?). Plus, add the nearby town of Loiza, Luquillo's 60-plus street food kiosk, and plenty of bars along the route. The surroundings will leave you in high spirits.
The home is just a short drive from the San Juan Airport. On most days, you will settle back in just under 35 minutes. The Luquillo Beach area is 10 minutes away. Most rivers and hiking trails are under 15 minutes. Piñones is around 30 minutes. Make it to the Ceiba ferry system in less than 40 minutes.
This updated 3 bedroom 1 full 1-bathroom house is right in the city of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Guests will have access to the whole house, parking, and the backyard. Dining room and living room with smart TV. Master bedroom, closets, and private bathroom. The other nice-sized bedrooms with queen sized beds and two twin beds.
A fully furnished home that includes a kitchen and wifi, close to major highways, so you can settle in back easily. Comfortable private area with room for your family and guests.
Guests receive a "complimentary package" of dishwashing detergent, garbage bags, shampoo and conditioner, and toilet paper among other convenience items. We also have a few beach supplies and pantry items available.
The property does not have another alternative power source.

Property worked great for the 6 of us. Great location! We loved the wrap around porch! Very noisy being in the rainforest but we loved it. Only thing i would warn is that it is very steep getting from the parking to the house. Not a problem for us but it may be for others.

Appropriate lodging for me, as close to El Yunque trails. House was clean, relatively quiet. Host very responsive. Spent 8 nights there. Parking is off street. Had three short power outages, from 15 minutes to 4 hours (longest). Puerto Rico is known for electric grid issues. House does not have back-up generator. Bring external power source to charge cellphone. Overall, well-priced in my opinion.

When I tell you that this place EXCEEDED any expectations that we may have had, I mean, seriously, this place changed what had started out as a pretty stressful trip (issues with another listing that required unexpected relocation) into the best "home away from home" stay thus far! Our vibes and spirits were very low from the disheartening change in plans but when we arrived here, we knew it was meant to happen exactly as it did and our moods were instantly refreshed! This place was so much more than the pictures do it justice!

Seriously, I would love to keep this place a secret and all to myself by not exclaiming how amazing it is (so it is always available when I am ready to come back; HaHa!) but it's just too great to not share! Kudos to Vicvelyn for being a wonderful host with a gorgeous tucked away dream place! We WILL be back!

The managers were quick to communicate and very accommodating. The house was clean and above and beyond what I expected. Great location. Being from the islands this was priced super fair and I couldn’t recommend enough!

This home had clean and spacious rooms and a beautiful view from the wrap around patio. Host was easy and helpful with communication. The home was very easy to find with helpful instructions from the host on how/where to park. Pictures are true to home. We needed a rental home near family for a wedding and this was perfect for a group of family members to stay together.

Our family stayed here in July 2023. The home was situated with views overlooking a lush landscape of native plants and mango, breadfruit, banana, and other trees. In the far distance you could see the ocean. Looking upslope you are delighted by majestic, cloud-cloaked mountains.
The home is very clean, simple, with cheerful colors, comfortable. It’s everything we needed as a homebase and Ramon was very on top of call communications.
We would definitely stay again! Thank you Ramon!

What I loved: the wraparound balcony, rainforest sounds, lovely back yard, hanging hammock, adorable rooms, beach amenities, and the living room.
What to know beforehand: the roosters and dogs begin their sounds after dark and countinue until morning- I can normally sleep through anything because I have eight dogs myself, but this was really difficult for me so I recommend bringing earplugs.
The biggest deal for me was the shower, because I was not aware that it was solar heated. Is solar heated in the same way that camp showers are solar heated where you put a bag of water in the sun and let it heat up. So I was surprised when I took a shower in the morning and I could only get it to be room temperature. Now I know it's because everyone used up the hot water the night before and the water has no way of heating up without the sun. I think this is not a problem if you are aware of it and plan accordingly taking showers only at night to get the hottest shower.
The host was very quick to respond to my shower questions and help right away
All in all, it was a great experience, and I appreciate them renting out their home

This was a great location to see all the places we wanted to go. We city dwellers were amazed at all the country-side sounds at night - frogs, birds, etc. The parking is tight, but the house suited our needs perfectly.

Clean and close to everything, Casa de Luz is a very functional home with a great view. Ramon was great - very responsive to inquiries. Neighborhood may be a bit rustic for some (i.e. Roosters).
