About this house rental
A wonderful family home, Blackdown Border dates back to 1937. The property is beautifully configured and fits perfectly the needs of the modern family with well-proportioned accommodation over two floors.
The Property is accessed via a formal entrance hallway which then leads to the principle reception rooms. The hall leads through an open archway to the formal dining room that can seat up to 10 with double doors opening to far reaching views over the garden and beyond. The drawing room is of an excellent size and features a log burning stove making it a wonderfully cosy place to be in winter. In summer it has a light and airy feel with its large triple aspect windows.
The real heart of the home is the family kitchen with a bespoke design by Mark Willkinson, affording an excellent focus to the house. From here leads to the family sitting room, via the large Utility Room (with space for two large dogs). The family sitting room is a wonderful entertaining space for more informal family moments or for use as a playroom for younger families. It has a large wood burning stove making it warm and cosy for those movie nights in.
The spare twin bedroom leads off the family room with its ensuite bathroom.
Upstairs are four good sized double bedroom with two ensuites and a separate family shower room.
Blackdown Border is approached by two sets of electric gates onto a gravel driveway parking for numerous cars.
Outside there are four sun terraces all facing south west which offer different areas from quiet reflections around a water feature to the large family terrace with hot tub, outdoor sofas, fire pit and BBQ. There is a terrace directly outside the kitchen door with a table and chairs for up to 10. Outside the dining room is a small terrace for sundowners.
The terraces are raised above the flat croquet lawn with an abundance of surrounding shrubs and flowers, accessed by two sets of steps that wind down through planted terraces.
The town is a few minutes drive into Haslemere town which offers a fast service for commuters to London and excellent shopping facilities for day-to-day needs and a choice of restaurant pubs and coffee shops, along with a Tennis Club and Haslemere Leisure Centre. Sporting facilities include golf at Hankley Common, West Surrey, Liphook and Chiddingfold, Racing at Goodwood, Polo at Cowdrey Park, and Sailing on Frensham Ponds and off the South coast at Chichester.
Blackdown Border also has the benefit of offering direct access to a footpath leading directly from the garden on to Blackdown, an area of 965 acres of ancient heathland and woodland owned by the National Trust, which provides excellent walks and rides as well as sensational views over Surrey and West-Sussex, which inspired much of Tennyson's poetry.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Blackdown Border which was a very comfortable house and the outdoor spaces were beautiful. It was an easy house to enjoy and spend time relaxing in the gardens. Louise & Mike were very good hosts and accommodated our requests and made the process very simple.
Blackdown Border is in a great location with good local facilities and made a good base to explore the area and easy to get to London when needed.

A beautifully presented, spacious and comfortable home. Blackdown Border was an ideal property for our family Christmas. The secure gardens were perfect for our Labrador and we enjoyed some super walks into the National Park. We would love to visit again…
