The breakfast was very disappointing. It was supposed to be a continental breakfast. When we arrived 30mins before breakfast finished there was no fruit and 1 slice of cheese, one croissants and the drinks were cold.We asked if they we going to replenish it. They only brought out some fruit and one type of cheese. With a continental breakfast you do usually expect a range of cooked meat and cheeses aswell as youghurt and pastries and a choice of hot tea and coffee.

Clean and comfortable. Pleasant and attentive staff. Good food and well presented. Located in Town Centre with Chatsworth, Dovedale and Peak District all with a 30minute drive.

Love staying at the Lion Hotel Belper lovely staff nothing to much trouble stayed many times before its great for the town which is great.

My fourth stay at the Lion as there aren’t many other options in the local area. Staff are pleasant and the bar offer's a good evening meal menu.
However as before, I was completely unable to connect to wifi. Didn’t bother asking reception as their solutions in the past never worked. Also found the room too warm and noise was an issue, especially with window open. Thirdly, continental breakfast was meagre to say the least, so paid £9.50 for cooked option.

Generally clean but tired in terms of decor and requires updating. Toilet had a crack. Good hot shower. Service friendly and welcoming. Continental Breakfast poor offerings as nothing left hardly after an hour.

Good size room with clean modern bathroom. Will use this hotel again. No complaints.

Very friendly and welcoming. Room was nice and comfortable. Good choices for breakfast both cooked and continental style. We also had our evening meals at the Hotel and there was a good choice and it was well presented. Staff friendly and accommodating. Located in the Town Centre about 100 yards from the Railway Station and Bus Station. Convenient for trips to Chatsworth and Peak District.

Great location for local walkd

We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, the nice chairs, really good selection of teas and coffee nice atmosphere in hotel and pleasant staff.

This is more like a pub with rooms than a hotel with a bar / restaurant so if you manage your expectations, you won't be disappointed. There's easy free parking, room was spatious, bed was comfy, shower was quite good, dinner was nice and staff were great. Cooked breakfast was a bit disappointing and there was some traffic noise (as noted in the hotel info) but I quite enjoyed my stay.

Everything pretty decent apart from non usable wi fi and insufficient hotel parking - had to use public pay and display overnight.

A very comfortable hotel convenient for the Peak District. Although it's on the main road, it was quiet at night and it was easy to find with plenty of parking. Our room was large and clean and the bed very comfortable. We had an excellent supper in the bar and the continental breakfast was more than enough.

Always a fabulous stay at The Lion. Staff always friendly and welcoming. A lovely busy place with a great atmosphere. The location is good for exploring Belper and it's numerous pubs, bars and restaurants. Only very slight downside is the room is tired. Very clean though

Convenient location. Very helpful and friendly staff.

It was very, very noisy which caused us lack of sleep. We were attending a Wedding the following day but unfortunately had to come back after the main meal as were both very tired. Another night of loud music and voices. We booked 3 nights but only stayed 2. I certainly would not recommend room number 5! Not a great experience.

Staff were helpful and the facilities were good. Let down by racist and homophobic clientele discussing their views very loudly and openly. Given that this was the night before Belper Pride, I would like to see the hotel sending out a clear message that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.

Staff were all very attractive people, with a ready smile, eager to help and advise, quick and efficient, room was lovely and we will not hesitate to stay again

Great location and food and service good. Stayed a few times now but rooms need a bit of updating.

Room was adaquate, but the bathroom had a hand held shower which if you had fitted it in to the cradle, would have sprayed water out of the bath. Mattress and bedding had seen better days. Room was above reception area, and late night guests were very noisy and then staff started hoovering around midnight. Breakfast was very disappointing, dried up fruit, running out of the basics of bread and croissants. Only one staff member to serve on a busy weekend morning. Asked if they had available non-dairy milk and was told she would fetch some soy milk. Time passed and as she was obviously busy, I chose not to disturb her. As we were departing she challenged me that I should have reminded her, as she was busy. I said gently that it was not big deal and not important. She then sharply told me not to be so rude. Not impressed.

Lovely hotel, lots of character. Staff very friendly and very helpful. Food was delicious.
Great location for exploring Belper and surrounding area.
Reasonably priced and will definitely stay again.

Wi-Fi was unavailable on Saturday afternoon and evening but was available on Sunday morning.
They could do with some quieter rooms as midnight is too late for me!
Staff were brilliant both evening meal and breakfast - the continental breakfast was more than sufficient so we didn’t try the cooked option!

Night away with friends for Belper music festival. Great location in centre of town. Lovely friendly staff at all times. Lovely room on front of hotel. Comfortable bed. Power shower fabulous. Breakfast was good and everything you needed.
We will stay here again in future. Lovely experience. Thanks

Property was next door to a petrol station which was very noisy

Don’t stay here if it’s hot weather unless you like to hear the drone of the provided fan all night . Our room (17) was oppressively hot all night ! Not the best nights sleep .

Always a great place to stay-Did have issues this time with wi-fi

Room big, bed comfortable, plenty of storage space. Large bathroom with bath and noisy saniflo toilet.
Accommodation old so cant expect modern facilities but corners and windows grimey.
Unfortunately room directly above bar so very noisy, no warning about this at check in.
Breakfast very nice

Stayed at the Lion for the last 5 years as part of our Golf Society and have always found it to be comfortable, friendly and convenient for our needs.
Would recommend for anybody visiting the area.

I don’t know if the single room isn’t used much, but there was spider webs in the corners, you could feel the spring in the madras. The window was worn out. The daily cleaning was ok.

The Lion is a good, hotel. No frills but the food in the pub was really good.
I had a single room - it was adequate for a night, clean and enough. Very competitive price so it was fine.

It was very clean but other than that was not worth nearly £100 per night. Or room was tiny the bed was very uncomfortable. The shower pressure was awful. They charge £10 per head for an upgrade to cooked breakfast and the continental breakfast was very limited. The toaster with only 4 slots for bread was difficult to use and the most i saw at any one time was 4 croissants even when there were 14 people in the breakfast room. Decor is not up to standard once you get past front of house. My daughters room had a toilet cysteine that didn't fill without you taking of the lid and twiddling.

Good room and stay. Only slight glitch was the absence of connected wifi

Great location and great bar and restaurant
Parking too which is free

Stay was ok. Staff very good and friendly but thought the breakfast was very poor. Probably the worse continental ever had. For the price and standard of room you should be getting a full english. Bed in room eas to singles pushed together this was very poor. Room was meant to be deluxe nothing deluxe about it

Very clean big room and big bathroom
