Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel well located, easy access to amsterdam, plus zaandam is a lovely town. Only issue with cleanliness was one of the towels seemed to have a makeup stain.

Great location. The train to Amsterdam Central is like a 3 minute walk right in front of the hotel. Plus there is stores and restaurants in the same area. Room is spacious enough and bed was comfortable too.

The place was very comfortable and up to our standard except the shower water from the "rainforest" shower head was not strong enough. Hence, we had to use the normal shower head which was placed at a lower position and unable to adjust.

The hotel exterior is beautiful in the style of Zaandam. The room was nice and spacious, with a TV, Espresso machine, mini fridge and wardrobe space. There is a free storage space for luggage if you have a late check-in or early checkout, which is really helpful. The room and bathroom however could do with some cleaning and updating. The room had cobwebs on the wall and the bathroom had black mould in the shower. We only got 3 coffee pods each day, despite being 2 people, which meant we couldn't enjoy a second cup of coffee.

The location cannot be beaten. The hotel forms a triangle with a large supermarket and Zaandam train station, an easy 2-3 minutes walk to both. Zaandam is two stops from downtown Amsterdam, a 12 minute train ride, to live in quiet, beautiful surroundings at a third of the price of downtown. It’s a no brainer. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, peaceful, the staff were always cheerful and helpful. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

The beds in this hotel are the most uncomfortable I have even seen. It was humid in Amsterdam and the so-called air conditioning was preset and you could not adjust it. It was bad sleeping on uncomfortable beds and in a hot room for my duration.

We loved Zaan! The building itself is lovely inside and out, and it's literally across the road from Zaandam station which takes you to Amsterdam central, Zanvoort beach and other locations. The staff were all lovely and accommodating, and always willing to help, and the room was lovely. Very clean, the only thing i noticed was a slight build of mould around the outline of the shower floor and. few things under the bed, but other than that i was very happy with the general cleanliness. The bed was too firm for me and the pillows too thick, so after the first night I requested another duvet to sleep on to soften the bed and a thinner pillow, both of which were brought to the room for me by a member of staff. We didn't get a chance to eat at the hotel as we wanted to explore food places around central, but the menu did look very good and varied. Would definitely stay again.

Great property to stay at, awesome buffet breakfast, the room was big and a/c great. Staff were friendly and loved that it was easy to get to the train, a few mins walk only and we could go anywhere for the day. Zaandam is a cute little city in itself. Recommend this place highly and will def stay there again. Thank you :)

My bathroom had mold. I ordered room service on the first day there, and no one collected the food trays or discarded food from my room for the 2 days i was there. They serviced the room and left the trays there. AWFUL.

Our stay was ok. On arrival a €100 euro deposit was taken. Our Deluxe room with a king bed was not that. Two twins pushed together with a 3 inch mattress topper. Hairs on the bathroom floor. Hairs under the sheets, Stained and dusty carpets, marks on the walls, sticky light switch's etc. not properly cleaned. Was moved to a smaller cleaner room with king bed. Which was ok. Had a bathtub which was nice but couldnt keep yourself up as it was too big. We asked for room to be made up on the fourth day, but all was done was hoovered and bin change. Same cups same towel no new sheets etc. staff were friendly

Spacious & comfortable rooms, good air conditioning. Zaandam is only 2 train stations from Amsterdam central, about 10-15 mins ride, and just a few minutes walk from the station. Unable to hear any transport noise from my room. Supermarket opposite. Quiet area. Felt safe as a female solo traveller. If I had to complain, it’s that they have a coffee maker in each room, i.e. nil electric kettle if you’re a tea or hot water drinker. The hot water from the coffee machine still leaves a bit of a coffee taste. Definitely recommend Zaan Hotel. Whilst I was there, they were doing railway works and nil trains between Amsterdam Central and Amsterdam Sloterdijk on weekends. Maps on your mobile gives clear instructions how to get the tram from Amsterdam Central to Amsterdam Sloterdijk, then a train from Amsterdam Sloterdijk to Zaandam. Zaan Hotel is also 2 train stations before Zaandijk Zaanse Schans, if wanting to go see the Zaanse Schans windmills and village.

Close to the subway train station, only 3 minutes walk. You can catch the train from the airport to this hotel, which is very convenient. Also like the area, it has somewhat unique shape hotels and buildings. Would recommend for a short stay.
