Wonderful place with spacious and scenery living experience!
4.9
Wonderful culture experience to live in such a good condition in a popular tourist area. We can hop in and out of our Ryokan for breaks during hot summer day. My family had best time.

Location is a tourist attraction so if you enjoy walking out of the accommodation right into shops and crowds, it is perfect.
The design of the room itself is wonderful and a great experience.
I do think the room needs a thorough cleaning as there is dust in a lot of unused but visible areas. Floors need a good scrub too. Not the usual kind of impeccable Japanese cleanliness I am used to.
The one downfall is having to lug your luggage from the street all the way to the accommodation. It’s not an easy feat. I really wish they can offer a better solution for guests.

Amazing spot. Lucky to stay here. A personal oasis among the cute (but crowded) walking streets of Kiyumizodera temple area.

We absolutely loved our stay at Campton Kiyomizu 5 and were so glad we chose this location. It was perfect for our family of 4, esp with little kids. The area is so crowded otherwise and we loved walking around in the mornings and evenings once the whole area quiet down. The beauty of Kyoto is in the old architecture so it was special staying in the historical part of town rather than any swanky hotel. The apartment was clean and we paid extra for daily cleaning. Any concerns were immediately addressed and it truly felt like a great stay where we would unwind at the end of the day. Keep in mind that you will need to pay extra for additional bedding for kids. The vegetarian Japanese breakfast was nice as well- great to try different items that we had never tried before.

A really nice and enjoyable place to stay.

We loved absolutely everything about this property. Beautiful and quiet in bustling Kiyomizu - within steps of the pagoda and right in the perfect spot. It was spotless with a gorgeous bath room (and soaking tub), wonderful bed, beautiful space. We loved it so much!

There was rotten left-over food in the refrigerator.

This was a great place to visit the area around Yasaka pagoda and also the Gion district is a short walk away. The accommodation was gorgeous and comfortable for our family of 6. It was just a little tricky to contact the host after. hours.

Beautiful place! We will return.

Awesome hotel just walking distance from Kiyomizu-Dera temple. Hotel is neat, modern and ryokan at the same time. Awesome experience staying at Campton, hotel amenities are top notch.

Property was beautiful and you can’t beat the location! Staff were quick to respond and very helpful!
My only complaint was that a neighbouring unit had a very noisy child that we could hear throughout the stay (no matter which room/floor we were in)

Very good location.
Very easy check in.
Ryokan feeling when food ordered and brought in.
Like a condo. Bathroom upstairs and down.
Very touristy area. So if you have problems with crowds, you won't like it. If you like to be in the middle of it, it's great. Cabs may not make it to the property (crowds), so you may have to walk your luggage the last few hundred meters. We liked the location, didn't mind the crowds.

Beautiful property in an amazing location, right next to Kiyomizu-dera temple with walking distance to Gion. The house is very cozy and the bath is amazing!

First of all, the manager there gave us excellent services and made us very comfortable. He even waited for our taxi in the rain for us. Room is situated in the most pictured location of sannen zaka. Room was very clean and specious. Can’t think of better place to stay in Kyoto.

The place is lovely and very comfortable. We only stayed for one night, due to availability. We wish we could stay longer. Though it was a short one, we loved everything about it.

Best location ever in the heart of Gyon, temples, shops, michelin restaurants and local food. The hotel is cute, with everything you need, loved the little inside garden!

Incredible hidden gem in the middle of Kiyomizu area. The property was beautifully designed and impeccably clean. The on-site manager responded very quickly and thoughtfully by message throughout our stay. Despite being right by tourist-crowded Ninenzaka, it was very quiet and tranquil throughout our unit.

Amazing property...can't fault the place..everything is perfect..it's in the heart of ninenzaka...beautiful location!!!

Exceptional property in the heart of the Kyoto historic district. We stayed in unit 1.
This property is very special in the high quality of the finishes and beautiful modern Japanese design. It was a delight, from the entry garden, to the unit’s little garden and wooden bath, to the neighborhood environs. We were pleasantly surprised to have a large, delicious traditional breakfast included (though somewhat early delivery at 8:30!)
The pictures do not do the unit justice, as all the small beautiful parts add up to a unique and delightful stay.
In terms of setup, the two bedrooms are separated by sliding doors, so there is more noise carried between them than with a full wall. The dining area had a small kitchenette but not really enough equipment for significant cooking. Unit 1 is at the front of the building near the building entrance so there is some noise on the bottom floor from people coming and going but not much. These are negligible drawbacks though.
The location is in a wonderful pedestrian part of the historic area. As a result, there are a lot of tourists on the street during the day. But since the main building is behind the property’s other building, the unit didn’t experience any street noise. It was as great to be able to experience the calm of this neighborhood in the early morning and night. We loved staying here and would return.

Campton's location was excellent. The facilities within the apartments were good for children and gave a sense of a home away from home.
The close proximity to Hokanji and Kiyomizu-dera allowed a unique early morning access before the usual crowd.

This was a lovely hotel right in the old part of Kyoto with a view of the tower of Yasaka right from my window. It’s location was great with many restaurants and shops nearby.

Everything looked brand new. very clean. Great location in historic part of town

We loved Campton Kiyomizu. First of all the pictures do not really show how beautiful this property is. Second this is a very popular area full of restaurants, shops and lots of tourist (interestingly most were Japanese). We stayed in unit 1 over Thanksgiving with 3 children. The units are brand new, equipped with everything from washer/dryer to a full kitchen. The units are really clean and stylish. Note. they are not kidding about the no shoes. We horrified them by stepping into the first room with shoes on (again the place is spotless). The communication with the staff was a little tough (our fault we don't speak Japanese) but they were so lovely and tried very hard to accommodate everthing we needed. They booked us into 2 amazing restaurants incl a 1Michelin star and another v. high end. I recommend you ask them to make reservations for you way before you go, (through all of Japan, the restaurants were tough to book and really required a Japanese speaker). I had to ask how to use the washer and even the maintenace person they sent was so kind and interesting, I talked to him for 1/2 an hour. This propery had a view of the pagoda which was a very popular place for photographs, we must have seen 1/2 dozen wedding pictures shot while we were there. Overall we'd definitely stay here again, we thought it was excellent and a great change from the giant hotels we stayed in in Tokyo. Thank you to the gracious staff!
