A good spot above Taormina. Runs shuttle bus to the town. Rooms are OK. Our was a little run down with a loud grinding air conditioner, and a leaking faucet. The staff are very hard working both at the hotel and in the evening at the restaurant. Breakfasts are good, and the pool is very good. Good parking available across the street under ground. Easy access to Castelmolo by walking up some stairs.

Beautiful secluded hotel with views of Mt. Etna. More importantly, the staff was superb and extremely helpful. Breakfast was diversified and plentiful. It was also very convenient to have dinner in "La Caverna".This is a definite top 10 hotel in Italy! Stay here and you will not be disappointed!!!

We had a lovely stay at Villa Sonia. Could not recommend this hotel enough. The hotel was spotless, very large room (we booked the double with Etna views) Breakfast and hotel bar service was fab. Amazing location for exploring Castelmola and Taormina. A handy bus service operates throughout the day, just outside the hotel €3 return to Taormina centre (10/15 min journey) The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and really went out their way to make sure we had a good stay. Highly recommend the restaurant associated to the hotel a short walk up the road. A fabulous hotel for exploring the nearby sights or for relaxing and soaking up the sun (the pool area always had loungers free to use and was super clean/ tidy) Thanks for having us, we will most definitely be back! 😊

We stayed here for 2 nights and we wish we could have stayed longer. The view from our terrace was beautiful - it overlooked Mount Etna and the surrounding hills. Room was spacious and rustic, which made it feel authentic. All staff at the hotel were lovely and friendly. Breakfast was great and they had such a good choice of fresh food. The pool area was a nice touch - it was great getting in the pool after a long day in the sun. Would happily stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone!

Just a wonderful property. Great service from the staff. All very friendly and accommodating to your needs. Property is very clean. The breakfast was very good every day. It’s a short walk up to Castelmola which has some excellent restaurants and breathtaking landscape and shops. Grab a short bus ride into Taormina right outside of the hotel also. We would definitely stay at this property again.

The hotel is situated just below the village of Castelmola. It is a small & quirky hotel with lots of antique furniture & artifacts. All the staff were very helpful & pleasant. The views of Mt Etna from the hotel were breath taking. All areas of the hotel were clean.

Castelmola is on a steep hilltop so driving there is tricky due to very curvy roads. It is quite far from Taormina. The hotel provides limited shuttle service down to Taormina. Otherwise you can take a public bus that runs hourly. The little town of Castelmola is quite cute. The hotel is on the old side but they provide breakfast and the views of the mountains and Etna are excellent. Not the place to be if you are expecting the beach or Taormina.

The previous reviews and high ratings for this hotel are extremely misleading. This hotel is old and dirty -- our room was filled with ants and smelt like cigarettes. We checked in at 1am and literally checked out at 8am -- 4 days earlier than expected. Not to mention the staff at the front desk was rude and inconsiderate upon check out. It is also very far from the town of Taoromina and inconvenient to get back and forth. I would not recommend this hotel at all.

Beautiful weather and location. We were there for our Honeymoon and Maria, Paolo, David, Mario and everyone at the Hotel made our Honeymoon even more memorable. One of our best travel and location ever. All of the staff there really makes sure you are hang the best experience possible! They are all so nice and caring. One of a kind hotel and people. In a stunning location with far reaching views. Has a lovely ‘homely’ feel and staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The breakfast was fine but perhaps a little ‘samey’ and it’s a pity it didn’t serve lunch snacks ( ie sandwiches/salads etc) at the pool bar, but there are plenty of places just a 5-10 minute walk up the hill into Castelmona. Would thoroughly recommend.

Lovely hotel, great staff, everything was 10/10 but unfortunately the beds and pillows were rock hard and extremely uncomfortable for both of us travelling so our sleep was quite terrible during our stay. Luckily everything else was wonderful!

The hotel has seen better days and the standard of the Superior room was not as expected, especially for a 4 star hotel (no tea making facilities, coffee machine etc.). However the staff was friendly (thank you to the helpful receptionist who organised a kettle for us and the lovely young man in the breakfast area). The mount etna views also made up for the rather basic room.

Great place to stay in comfort and peace outside the bustle of the Town. Made special by the superb staff who all went out of their way. Oustanding. Davide (?) was simply fantastic. The free shuttle bus plus easy access to the service bus (with planning) results in easy and convenient commute. Davide even printed the days services for the guests.

We loved our stay at this property. We had a warm welcome, and a lovely room with a terrace overlooking Mount Etna. The hotel is situated up the hill from Taormina, close enough to go there for shopping or food but so peaceful. The pool area was nice, although I didn't see the pool bar open - perhaps it was too late in the year. The hotel restaurant, which is a 1 minute walk away is very nice too and we had several meals there. The hotel is 'classic', so if you want ultra modern and digital everything it may not be for you. If you want to relax while looking at a volcano, it's perfect.

The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The views of Etna were breathtaking. The location in Castelmola was unexpectedly delightful, far from the crowds in Taormina, and peaceful after a hard day’s sightseeing and shopping. The journeys to and from the hotel were always exhilarating/terrifying in equal measure. You don’t need a car, but do need to be on top of timetables if you plan to rely on public transport.

Hotel Sonia is traditional, well looked after , with great views. Breakfast buffet was very good . The pool are was very nice & the lunch menu very good value . The owners were very friendly & proud of their hotel . They also have an amazing real cave restaurant almost opposite which is excellent.

Absolutely loved this place and the owners and staff are amazing, it's a bit far out if you want to visit Taormina regularly and the last bus back is at 21.50 and if you miss that it's 20 to 25 euros for a taxi but it didn't bother us because we only stayed late in Taormina twice, the only other little gripe is that the hotel doesn't have a bar after 18.30 so you have to go to their restaurant up the street, that said i would definitely go back to this beautiful place. Many thanks to everyone at Villa Sonia
