Lovely stay at this hotel. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Great hotel and staff friendly and helpful

The room was motel style and a bit past its best. The room looked onto plastic style bins full of soil and weeds, more could be made of them if planted with shrubs.
The bathroom was in need of a refurb and needs a deep clean as it was very grubby and dirty. Bedside lamp not working, tv remote falling apart and held together with grubby tape. Restaurant staff very unfriendly and when asked for a drinks price list (which is a legal requirement) said they did not have one as drink prices were being updated. The price we paid for our drinks were very expensive.

We had a lovely evening celebrating the 80th birthday of my uncle. The staff were very helpful and the food provided was excellent.

Great hotel and staff

We always stay here and it’s usually very good, however this time we had a lot of road noise from the traffic.

Kind staff on reception. Helpful. Visited under difficult circumstances and they made us feel welcome and understood.

I stayed here for work and while I had a comfortable stay the place could do with updating.

Bit miffed that we paid nearly £100 for one night and a week later they're offering same room for half the price. Breakfast expensive at £12.50. It was ok but won't go again.

Easy check in friendly staff. Room clean tea and coffee making facilities. Good shower. Only downside was what seemed to be a small bed. Would recommend.

We had not realised that this is more of an American style motel where your hotel room opens out directly outside where your car is. This is unlike other places we’ve stayed where you have to trek down long corridors, up the stairs, more corridors etc. This is especially valuable if you have a lot of luggage and bags with you because you open your car boot and you walk straight into your room. The room itself is quite basic but has what we needed. The shower in the bathroom was brilliant, excellent water pressure and consistent perfect water temperature, I didn’t want to get out! The waitress in the restaurant at breakfast, Zoe, was very hard working and friendly. Would definitely stay here again if we were coming to the area again.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was first class

Positive first, staff were very friendly and helpful
Bad points - Room had a strong smell of cigarettes, nothing could get rid of it, it was even in the bedding(possibly from the bed). Carpet was filthy. Very dated and in need of refurb. Decided not to stay the second night and drove home
5.0
The staff were very polite and accommodating. The rooms could do with updating and the bathroom/bath was not up to standards. The hot tap leaked on the bath and the shower head let more water out the back of the hose and also ran down the bath and onto the floor which could turn into another problem. But we would go back and they really looked after my husband when he had to come up for me.

The staff worked hard but the property looked a little tired.

Pleasant staff good food nice location

Very convenient location both for driving and also bus stop outside to get to/from Durham. Beautiful location for local walks (deer outside the window on two mornings).
Comfortable beds, good showers and good value for money. Was a shame the bar shuts early, but otherwise good. Didn’t eat there so can’t comment on food, but friendly staff.

It was very easy to get Park and Ride into Durham from hotel. We liked being able to park our car right outside our room. Especially appreciated the excellently prepared food by the kitchen for dinner and breakfast. Staff very friendly, relaxed and helpful. Would definitely recommend for visitors to Durham.

ALL staff were polite and helpful ,from the house staff ,reception to the night porter ,the were responsive and not slow and grumpy.
thought the rooms were great and the view to the fields where you could watch the wild deer roaming ,
first time where nothing upset me at all .
it is due for a revamp next year (2025)
looks grim from the road as the colour of building was not so great but really surprised at the excellent service from all members .
one thing i would change is larger coffee cups at breakfast

Stayed for two nights, room clean and comfortable. Could do with updating but would stay again.

Always make me feel welcome, and location is great, plus has a great view of the roe deer in the wheat field from my bedroom window.
Stayed here many times….good value for money hotel.

Great bus service to Durham. Reception staff friendly and helpful.
Would have been nice to have a patio at the rear overlooking the fields. Maybe a painting in the room. Bed comfy.

This is our second stay here this year, our first stay was ok, didn’t have food in restaurant as we were out with family in the city. However this time we opted for breakfast on Saturday morning, there was no prices on the menu for food or the cost of breakfast, website also doesn’t display prices. Only prices on display was for the coffee. We opted for 2 bacon rolls, 1 with a hash brown & 2 coffees, lady came to us informed us we had to pay separately as wasn’t included in the room cost of £150 for the 2 nights. £25 for 2 bacon baps & 2 coffees seemed a little high in my opinion. However on the Saturday evening after a long day in the sunshine they did supply us with 2 plates for a takeaway we had ordered as the restaurant was due to close within 15 minutes of our return. Would likely return again due to proximity of family.

Liked the fact the rooms were in a square outside the main building. Staff in check in and out very friendly
The only negative was the noise from people coming back to their room at 3am . They were loud ang woke us up. Not the fault of the hotel. Good place to stay and dog friendly

Only stayed for an overnight trip room was ok smelt a bit doggy, bed creaked every time you moved, fire alarms went off eithin 10 mins of arriving apparently they are very sensitive or someone might have been vaping in a non smoking room so not a good start, was totally p**sed of when alarm again went of 7:00 again on the sunday morning, at this point we got up and left for my 6 hr journey home. An absolute joke of a place, would not recommend if you fancy a good relaxing nights sleep.

Only there for a night but convenient for surrounding attractions

Bathroom was very small.

Useful stop over for a night. A little basic and dated. The bathroom is definitely in need of a refit and reminded me of why I hate shower curtains and showers over narrow baths. Pub is good for food. And breakfast was ok. Certainly better than a Travelodge. Parking is outside of your room.

A great find. Small and comfortable hotel, good location, very dog friendly, friendly and professional staff, generous food portions.

Very friendly service and very comfortable room. Convenient for bus route to Durham.

It was a bit expensive, one of our beds has a broken leg, the remote control was broken, the lamps didn't work and they didn't change the towels. It was to expensive for these rooms

Staff were very friendly, polite and helpful.
We were very late to arrive to check-in, just after 11pm. And the website said check-in time was between 3pm & 11pm. There was no issue with this, though I did call them during the day to say we will be late arriving.
Also, we had to leave our car in the car park after we checked-out the next morning, to attend the graduation ceremony, until later in the day. It was not an issue at all for them.
Super accommodating & helpful.
We would stay there again.

Would highly recommend- lovely stay with great food and extremely welcoming staff

The bed was comfortable but a bit soft for my liking. First night I put a drink on a tab, then a few hours later added food and another drink. Settled up at end of evening. Next day, I was told that I could not run a tab for my early evening drink and had to put that on my credit card and later had to put a separate amount for food and drink. The policy should be consistent.

Great hotel staff brilliant and scenery around is beautiful.

Took my daughter to see Durham uni, stayed here the night before, arrived fairly late, but staff very friendly on arrival, room had seen better days and struggled with TV, but beds were comfy, stayed in a room motel style as car parked directly outside.
Breakfast was delicious, again service was fab, waitresses really pleasant and helpful.
Bus went directly to the Uni which was an added bonus as we left car at hotel
