The comfiest hotel bed I’ve slept in! Beautiful hotel and restaurant with excellent food and fantastic, friendly service. Highly recommend

Lovely stay and would definitely return. Only reason for 4 stars is that the shower could have done with a new or really descaled showerhead to get best pressure and the mattress could have done with changing. I would encourage houskeeping to lie on mattresses to check for scalloping every now and again :-) !
Great pub hotel though with a fantastic team. Really enjoyed and would definitely return!

I stayed here with a group of friends for 3 weekday nights. The bedrooms were all of a decent size and, like the whole establishment, decorated in a rustic style with mostly recycled items. Whilst my room came with most of the usual extras (tea making, bathroom toiletries etc), it had just plain floor boards with no carpet, there was no bedside table, no chair other than a stool, only one electrical socket by the bed and no clothes hangers in the wardrobe. There were extra sockets by the desk. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable. There was no separate door to the bathroom although the toilet was separated by a frosted glass screen and door. The shower in bath provided ample hot water, but there was no handrail or anti-slip mat provided. The bar and restaurant areas were very nice although some seats were over crowded with big fat cushions. Other than Friday night, the place was very quiet. Whilst the food in the restaurant was very good and value for money, the prices at the bar were extremely high (draft beer £6+ per pint). As far as I could see, the only public toilets were upstairs. There was an extensive seating area outside, some was covered. The smallish car park had a fairly tight entrance, but included 3 electrical charging points. There was street parking, free overnight but expensive during the day. The staff were polite and friendly. Whilst it’s a generally nice and interesting hotel, there are too many negatives for me to stay here again.

Absolutely fabulous, i was given a coach house room which I initially disappointed but wow, a lovely room, warm, roll top bath, food was amazing and fantastic ingredients, lovely bed and pillows, an all around great experience

Good location in Bedford town and a good breakfast, with options. For me I did not really like the open bath in the room, there was no air con, but the room has a good temperature and great view, the staff were helpful, especially the night security guard. No complaints really recommended.

Bathroom set up is not the best.

Lovely pub with rooms. Our bedroom was in the old coach house and had a free standing bath which was lovely.

absolutely gorgeous and characterful hotel - only thing I would say it would have been great to have fresh fruit and more vegan options for brekkie (that's not a cooked breakfast!)

Great location for Bedford Park concerts, excellent value for money and a very good breakfast in the morning.

Apart from the toliet in a glass wardrobe absolutely great!

Wonderful location for town or bedford park. The Hotel looks amazing from the outside and the Bar area however the rooms and acees corridors need some tlc.
Room 7 was a reasonable size with all the facilities you need from a hotel room, Queen sized Bed, Sink, Shower, WC, Bath, TV, hot drink facilities, wadrobe, and desk, on our arrival we noticed the use of a glass wardrobe and opaque glass for the WC wall and door, this helped ensure the natural light lit the full room the floor was original floorboards and needed some repairs, this didnt make want to anything on them.
The bed was a Queen size and had an old wooden frame, however the base was actually an old divan dropped in̈ the middle of the frame, This caused there to be a large gap at the top and bottom, the bed creaked if you moved on it and the mattress was way to soft for me but i did manage to get to sleep easily.
The WC was adjacent to the bed about 3ft away with a door that isnt designed to fully close.
The shower was a good size and nice and clean. The bath is a large cast iorn tub positioned next to a soft seating area and with a view out the window, this was very nice and relaxing.
The hotel was busy due to the event we were going to but there were plenty of tables, therefore we wer suprised to be denied food, the bar also only had 1 staff.
Overall the room wasnt bad, but could have been much better. It seemed a bit dated and needs some tlc as did the communal areas, i disliked the bed, WC location.

Great place to stay in Bedford. Our room was lovely and reasonably priced. We didn’t manage to eat in the bar as we had other arrangements but the breakfast that was included in the price was fantastic. The portion was so large that neither of us could finish it all!
Staff were friendly too. We will stay there on our next visit to Bedford

Overnight stay to attend a concert. Perfect pricing, lovely room and breakfast included.
We did have to park on the street as on arrival there were a couple of events taking place.
Experiences I think would vary depending on what else is going on and how that affects your visit. It suited us as we just needed to sleep and eat breakfast.

We had a lovely time at the hotel. The staff were really lovely and friendly both on Friday night and Saturday morning. Food (dinner and breakfast) were delicious and reasonably priced. Our rooms were gorgeous and really comfy and quiet. Thank you all for looking after us

Lovely hotel with great staff, only slight issue is the floors are incredibly thin so was woken by the sound of staff talking in the dining room beneath my room but otherwise great hotel, location and incredibly comfy bed!

Lovely characterful property within a few steps from the market town of Bedford which offers some amazing restaurants such as: Higgins Pantry, Indiya, pizzeria's, Chinese etc.... Also Bedford has a jewel in its crown the River Ouse with the Embankment that runs by it. The De-Parys is very close to Bedford Park which is also worth a visit.

A very nice stay, a beautiful building with well decorated rooms (quirky but cool). High quality at a reasonable price. The staff was very helpful, and the food good, if a little bit slow on a Saturday night. We really enjoyed our stay and will stay again if we’re in the area.

Overall a lovely 1 night stay. Sadly no hot water in the morning, so a cold shower.

Nice place to recover during a business trip. Rooms are nice and confortable. Good choice of beer and food in the pub below. Very good breakfast!

Lovely man welcomed us on arrival and was very helpful. big bedroom with a sofa so didn't have to sit on the bed. Liked the quirky décor. Bed very comfortable. Delicious breakfast. I booked the hotel last minute and only stayed one night so wasn't really an issue however I have arthritis in my wrists and knees which means I couldn't get in/out of the free sanding bath so therefore couldn't take a bath or a shower.

Pleasant rooms with separate bath and toilet cubicle (plus sink). Clean and comfortable for a short break. The mattress was a bit soft for our taste.
Breakfast is excellent - the landlady (I presume) came round on the first morning to check that things were spot on for us.

I like the "shabby chic" decor, but one or two areas needed some attention. The staff were very friendly and efficient.

Lovely stay

The room was very large, of a quirky “distressed” design , comfortable four poster and two baths, plenty of hot water and warm. Some simple maintenance would be good- dead lightbulbs, broken window glass and slightly blocked sink for example. Breakfasts were very good as was breakfast service. Sunday evening meal was mediocre.

Lovely clean hotel which offers great value for money.
Just booked our second stay....

Lovely room and staff! Parking was a bit difficult but the room and breakfast made up for this. Room was clean and had everything you could need. Breakfast was lovely and lots of different choices.

Lovely reception for our fifteenth stay. This has really become our home as we have got to know the staff so well. Lowly rooms with comfortable bed and great shower and bath. Excellent food, both in the evening and at breakfast.

we arrived to check in and we were handed a key and a fob and we were advised if we are to get back late we should use the fob to get into the hotel via the side door. We got to our room and we were surprised to find the toilet was in the corner of the room with frosted glass for privacy. The shower over the bath was in the side of the room with nothing not even a shower curtain for privacy, and the sink was an arms reach from the side of the bed. We got ready and went out for the evening and arrived back at the hotel around midnight. We got to the side door to find the fob was not working! After multiple attempts of trying different codes on the keypad trying to use the fob we couldn’t get in. We tried banging on the door to see if anybody would come to the door to let us in. Nobody came. We then tried calling the hotel only to find nobody was working in the hotel at this point and nobody was answering the phone. With the car keys in the room and no other means of getting in, after an hour outside, We ended up having to push the door as far as we could to just about get one of our hands through to reach the green button inside the hotel to release the magnetic strip at the top of the door so we could get in. However as we had all of our weight on the door so we could sneak a hand in, we ended up falling to the ground. The next morning on check out we told the staff what happened and all they said was “as long as nothing is broken that’s all that matters”
Appalling service
