A very nice hotel & all the staff were very polite & helpful. Food was excellent with lots of choice & catered well for gluten & dairy free. Downside was because of weather conditions another night was needed & the inhouse price charged was way in excess of what it was being advertised for on the Metropole website. Not happy to discover we paid over £50 more for additional night.

Nice place lots of history in there. Must be a nightmare to keep running and I take my hat off to them for that. Food good, nice atmosphere, good facilities, the Spa is great. Rooms just a bit chintzy for me,

As a resident was told that i couldn't have a evening meal as they were supposed to be fully booked BUT the restaurant was half empty all evening, damp stains on the walls in the room !

TV not working for the duration of stay.Toilet seat almost adrift

Pool was very nice. Hotel needs a facelift

whether its ringing up to book or arriving at the hotel there is always a welcome from the team who deal with you. Natalie, Sophie or any of the receptionists greet you well and if you choose to dine then Julian, Nicoletta and Viktoria in the restaurant will look after you. If you want a good room then any of the Superior Rooms are good but why not treat yourself to a Luxury room for a few pounds more. Our dog always gets a warm welcome from the team too.

We stayed for 1 night in the Metropole the hotel was a bit dated and needed a bit of an upgrade .After saying that the rooms were clean and tidy, we had a evening meal and the food was really good breakfast in the morning was excellent.
The staff were very helpful and pleasant and the indoor pool is a must and the sauna.Would we go back yes.

The room wwe stayed in was very dated shower over bath awkward to use damp around ceiling from room above ceiling crack looked as if shower from above would come down . Brasier restaurant staff indifferent red wine served bottle dumped on table not even opened mediocre wine 110/0 sold for £26 in room two t bags for a nights stay very penny pinching we actually stayed two nights . Fur coat no knickers that’s the metropole

Food was excellent 👌

I was impressed with the hotel straight away, when we checked in everything was explained about food, services etc, they accommodated our bikes aswell. The hotel itself is dated but that meant our roos was spacious and the hotel well spread out.
The beds were super comfortable and the shower was hot,we had kettles and complimentary drink.
We ate in the hotel and the food was cooked to a high standard the staff was friendly, courteous and accommodating.
I would highly recommend it.

A lovely drop in hotel with great spa.
4.0
Lovely old hotel, clean quiet and spacious.
Unusually we struggled to spend money, the kitchen would not serve food in the bar area, because it would cause "delays" in the kitchen. We eventually got some olives and some nice charcuterie but no bread because the fridge was locked...you don't keep bread in the fridge and the olives and salami were from the fridge. A real disappointment to be treated like fools...
Marred what would have been a really good review.

The rooms need some updating as stains on the furniture. Hair dryer didn’t work
3.0
Room was ok, but room thermostat wasn’t working so no heating and bathroom was freezing cold in morning. Tap handle kept falling off and toilet lid wasn’t fixed down properly. The noise from coming from upstairs pipe work was very loud and creaking floor boards was also very noisy. Over priced considering these factors. Good buffet breakfast in morning. Ceiling starting leaking water during breakfast through light fixture as someone was having shower in room above

Hotel is good, rooms are clean but was trying to connect mobile to LED but didn't connected

Very old property, rooms need a refresh. Multiple customers talking/complaining about their rooms in the bar whilst queing and lack of accessibility for elderly guests. Our room was very noisy, loud doors, loud fan from bathroom that is on a timer, hearing same loud fans from all neighbouring rooms.
It was acceptable enough (as young people) for one night but very very over priced, would not revisit or personally recommend.

Pleasant hotel for a short stay. We appreciated the onsite restaurants, pool and gym. The hotel furnishings are a bit tired, it could do with some renovation and redecorating, but it's comfortable.

Lovely friendly hotel, service was fabulous, we stayed with three young children and felt very at home here. They especially loved the swimming pool and the buffet breakfast. Dinner is served a bit late for children (6pm) but we enjoyed exploring the local area to find somewhere to eat.
We stayed in a family room and there was plenty of space, we liked that there were two separate areas within the same room.

A tired old property in need of refurbishment. Good service, facilities and food nonetheless.

Nice room, lovely quaint old hotel, ample parking and above all steaming hot fantastic food in the Brasserie.

Great room for a family of 4. Has a few steps to get to it.

Good family holiday break. Sure it can be better in places as some of the property needs a refurbishment, but overall we had a great stay as a family and the spa was loved by everyone. The family room was a great size, good bathroom, clean and comfy beds. Breakfast was consistently good and the evening food (whilst not cheap) was excellent.

The interior soft furnishings, carpets, wallpaper and paint, were tired, scuffed, outdated. Carpets on the stairs were threadbare. £200 per night seemed very expensive to experience a property in such poor condition. The lift outside our room was out of order fro the duration of our stay. I would rate 2 stars at best.
3.0
Reasonable spa facilities, lots of space and food was good but expensive- hate limited side dishes to a main and then having to order and pay more. Hotel is vast and winding, awful decor, creaky and noisy. Very large groups at 3.00 am in the morning. Parking is however plentiful. Bank holidays always push prices up but £125 for a single room is a lot of money for what you get. Paid less in Chester for a great hotel with much better facilities.

Charming old luxury hotel. Great spa add on. Nice integrated hotel restaurants on premise. Room fixings need some updating to todays look. Rooms are not as large as some other fine hotels.
Wonderful old world luxury demeaner with lounging areas on the first floor and spa included with room.
Seems to be a center for many activities.
Positive experience for guests.

Friendly staff, lovely breakfast and evening meals. We used it as a base for our walking holiday. The pool steam room and hot tub were a very nice thought to come back too.

This a beautiful Hotel, the inside is tired and needs some tlc. However, the location is good, rooms are a good size. Plenty of parking.

Excellent. Will definitely come back

This hotel is old and tired and cold and in need of massive investment to bring it remotely up to par. Dusty tables in restaurant, dirty juice glasses at breakfast, unhappy staff and a really unacceptable pungunt body odour issue with a dinner waiter. This was most off putting and was brought to the attention of the restaurant manageress. She prevented him serving us further but he continued to serve everyone else. A tricky issue to address but totally unacceptable not to. On the positive side our room was clean and the service there was very good. The maid even folded our pyjamas bless her.

Very hard mattress, also bunk bed mattress both very uncomfortable, the springs of the mattress could be felt when lay on it.

Beautiful historic hotel. Plenty of parking available. Close to amenities.
Common areas are spacious yet inviting.
Hotel rooms are lovely. My bathroom was en-suite but down some stairs which I found very unique.
I ate in the brasserie which was good.
I would definitely come back.

Great that we Could take our Yorkie, The pool and spa are great. Restaurants and bar are astronomically priced. £6 a pint... But overall decent stay.
