This cabin is adorable - super clean and has everything you could need! Exactly as advertised, the pictures truly represent the space. I went with my dog to try and find a quiet place for the 4th of July - the property is very quiet during the day, but there were some fireworks in the neighboring community after dark. Not as bad as we would have had at home, so it was worth the trip. I highly recommend this cabin for a getaway!

Location was great. We felt very safe and place was really clean. Small, but perfect for a couple or couple with 1-2 small kids. While there is not a stove for cooking, we used the grill and even learned to make grilled broccoli. Sooo good. So close to the giant city park and wineries. It was perfect for a weekend get away. The refrigerator is college dorm size, so we had it packed to brim and everything stayed cold in the refridge section and frozen in The freezer section. Lots of room for walking and the view was so pretty. Thank you!!

I received immediate feedback from the host with all the necessary information. Mr. Young also made it clear he would be available to provide additional assistance if needed. And he was! We were all impressed with the cleanliness of the property and the nice little extra touches like a very well stocked snack basket and excellent coffee. The location is ideal. It is off the beaten track, but with easy access to many choice locations in Southern Illinois. With several cabins close by, it would work well for a multi-family gathering. All in all, an excellent choice!

I had a wonderful stay at cabin #2! Everything was very clean and comfortable. The location was close to hiking trails, which I love and also close to town for convenience. Steve was a great host and replied very quickly when I had questions. Would definitely recommend and hope to return.

Quiet! Clean! Soft, fluffy towels and plenty of them! Had everything we needed while in town visiting family.
Thermostat was set between 75-78 and we couldn't change it. But the ceiling fan in the bedroom kept me cool enough.
If you are picky about pillows I'd bring your own bc the ones at the cabin were kinda flat. Couch wasn't super comfy but the recliner was decent. Has satellite TV but not a lot of channels so bring your laptop or switch to stay entertained. No hairdryer that I could find.
Overall recommend staying here!

Don’t let the listing picture deter you. This is a nice cabin inside and out. AC was nice and cold. Bed was comfy. There is not a stove/oven however, a nice gas grill is provided. Work as expected. Hosts communicate very well, gave all the information necessary quickly and easily

Although this property was referred to as a cabin, I would hardly call it one! It was more like a tiny house or apartment, and it had everything we needed, was very clean, conveniently located, and nicer looking than the pictures.

Property was in pretty good shape. Neighborhood was great. We came down for peaches and antiquing.

We had a minor hiccup with the condition of the pull out bed upon arrival but we soon sorted it. These cabins are charming. They’re not brand spanking new, but they’re very welcoming and accommodating. There is no “user’s manual” so a few things were trial and error, but the landlord is VERY approachable and helpful, with a lighthearted mindset to things. All in all the cabin was cute and welcoming, quiet and user-friendly, and I would recommend them for those who want to explore the Makanda area.

I stayed for ten days to help family in the area. A great location, just a quick drive away from Giant City, Makanda, and Carbondale. Comfortable furniture and nice amenities. The owner was quick in responding to questions, and the rate was very reasonable. Pet friendly and nice and cool in the 100 degree heat.

Absolutely great location, right off of 51. Property and neighborhood are great for dog walking. Cabin is perfectly sized for 2. Appreciated the solid flooring in living and dining area as we had 2 dogs with us plus had been out hiking. Host was great at communication. Cabins have been nicely updated.
The biggest downside is the lack of a stove or hot plate or cook top. We ended up buying a small cookie sheet, popped it on the grill and successfully made bacon and eggs daily. If you rent cabin 2, we left it in the upper cabinet.
I would recommend good grilling utensils as that is the only means to cook.

Clean and quiet (not a busy time). Several cabins located just off Rt 51 a few miles south of SIU. We are SIU alums from 40 years ago and decided to spend a few days in the area. Visited the school saw a baseball game, did some hiking at Garden of the Gods, Giant City State Park and other Shawnee Forest areas. It was a bit far but even took a day trip to Memphis. had a lot of fun.
