About this cabin rental
Welcome to the Banks Retreat!
The pretty hillside becomes your platform for exploration with tons of space to hike! Boat parking! Wildlife is frequently seen on the property! The cabin has been updated with WIFI, fresh linens, comfy beds, new flooring, and more. Perfect for a family or two to share during any season. You'll enjoy board games and gathering around the fire. Pristine gated location! Quick drive to restaurants and the lake.
The Space
Upon walking in, you'll feel right at home in the open-concept kitchen, dining, living area! The well stocked kitchen is ready for all your home-cooked meals, while a stock of board games, smart TV, and DVD player and collection are sure to keep the kids occupied. On the main level are two bedrooms with queen beds, a full bathroom, and heater. One of the bedrooms has a private balcony. Our favorite feature of the main level is the laundry/mud room right off the back deck, a perfect solution for the kids (and adults!) coming in from a day of sledding with wet clothes, or a hiking excursion with muddy boots... come in, drop your clothes in the washing machine, and head inside for some hot cocoa! Upstairs is the third bedroom with two queen beds, attached bathroom, and private balcony! Sip your morning coffee on the deck overlooking the pines, and your nightly glass of wine in a hot bath after a long day of watersports! Authentic Shaver Lake details throughout, including knotty pine, pellet stove, and beautiful stained glass windows in the living room. This is the kind of place you'll make into a yearly family tradition!
Guest Access
There are several places to park, and comfortable flat parking for up to 3 vehicles, or two vehicles and a boat trailer. The driveway is at an incline which might be tricky in the snowy season. Guests have access to the whole cabin and surrounding acre, but NOT the garage. The garage is off limits to guests.
Things to Note
No outdoor fires or charcoal BBQing during high fire season in Shaver Lake. Due to community rules, absolutely no wood firepits. Gas propane is allowed if you'd like to bring your own. Guests do not have access to the garage. We ask that you pack out your trash when leaving. NEVER leave trash outside as it attracts wild animals, particularly bears and raccoons. The fireplace in the living room is a pellet stove, pellets are provided.
Neighborhood
On over an acre of private land, there is no need to pay or travel to a snow park when you have a private one located just out the back door! The mud room with washer and dryer is just inside the deck, so leave your snow clothes in the dryer while you warm up around the pellet stove fireplace in the cozy living room. Located in the exclusive Ridgetop gated community in Shaver Lake, known for their extra large lots and well-maintained, quiet, and walkable streets, it's not out of the ordinary to see deer and an abundance of birds. This cabin is near the back of the community among tall pine trees, with over an acre of private space to sled, play, and explore!
Getting Around
We suggest using your own vehicle to get around. 4-wheel drive and tire chains are strongly encouraged during winter months, and may be required by California Highway Patrol when there's snow in the forecast.

House Rules
1. Communication is key! All guests must download and use the Airbnb App for communication. You'll receive check-in and check-out information through the app. Check in after 4pm. Check out by 11am. Our office hours are between 8am-9pm, please communicate between those hours.
2. Honesty is the best Policy! Add all guests to the reservation. Maximum Occupancy is 8 total individuals. Extra guest fee after 4 guests ($20/guest/night)
3. No parties! No smoking of any kind inside the home. Removal of smoke detectors is illegal. If you choose to smoke outside, dispose of your butts appropriately. Absolutely no parties or large, loud gatherings at this property. Loud music, excessive rowdiness, excessive drinking or smoking, etc. will result in a $1,000 party fine. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am.
4. Be respectful! When using outdoor areas (deck, bbq, etc.), please clean up after yourself so the next guest can enjoy it as well. If something is wrong, low, or out, please let us know so we can fix it. Never leave trash outside, it attracts birds and other animals that make a mess.
5. Have fun! Our goal is to host a vacation to remember. If you don't agree with our above rules, this is NOT the house for you, please find a home that better fits your needs and we'll all be happier! With the exception of things out of our control, we'll always do our best to make sure you have the best time!
6. BE A GOOD SHAVER NEIGHBOR! Guests must pack out their trash during this time of high bear traffic. We have a big trash problem in Shaver, and an even bigger bear problem (they love to eat the trash left behind). There are typically dumpsters at the Sierra Marina during peak season, and at the dump station on Friday and Saturday from 10am-3pm at 42089 Dinkey Creek Road. If you can’t pack out your trash, tie it up tight and never leave it outside.
