Everything was fine except the shower didn’t work. Also the repeated requests for valet tips were annoying.

I bumped my rating up from one to two stars because most of the staff was helpful. The reason I’m not gushing is that all I wanted for my $225 was a bed and a cup of coffee upon awakening, but no one in the process of checking me in told mentioned that I would have to ask for an espresso machine to be brought up to my room. So after searching for a coffee machine for five minutes after dragging myself out of bed, I had to shower, dress and go downstairs to get my cuppa Joe. Also, the hotel tries so hard to be so modern and cool that some of the lighting fixtures were impossible to turn on, like over the table in the corner. I just gave up after a while. Also, like most American hotels, the pillows were too fluffy for me, so I didn’t sleep well. And finally, I was disappointed in the restaurant offering so little in the way of vegetarian choices and the manager who was more than a bit snarky about it.

Lovely location and property with the nicest staff! The rooms were exceptional. Larger rooms, comfortable beds, quiet, nice bathrooms. A nice walk to the UVA campus.

We arrived to the Kimpton/Charlottesville after a long, 8 hour grueling drive from hurricane Helene stricken Asheville. We had slept in our car, were evacuated from our hotel in Asheville, and lived through a harrowing experience there. The woman at the front desk could not have been more unfriendly, inhospitable. She was only concerned that we had mistakenly made our reservation for Monday, instead of Sunday (we didn't have WIFI, power, water for 3 days). She let us know how lucky we were that they had a room available. The hotel was seemingly EMPTY, only saw a few people at the bar, and restaurant in the morning. The woman who served our breakfast was also extremely unfriendly, almost rude when I asked if I could get fruit with my oatmeal. I would never stay in this hotel ever again. I almost asked the woman at the front desk why would she ever consider a job in the hospitality business.

Loved the gardens out back!

Great location, building, and staff. The only critique is of the menu.
4.8
The best place to stay if you are visiting UVA

No pool. Only valet parking or else you have to walk 1/4 mile to a garage. Expensive breakfast on site.

Absolutely beautiful property and landscaping

Beautiful hotel! Staff were all friendly, and the hotel
Was clean and quiet. Everything was top of the line. Fabulous room

The hotel is really nice, my main concern is they spray a scent in the hotel and in the rooms that is so overpowering you can taste it. Also, the mandatory valet is also a bit much and it takes a long time to get your vehicle.

A very comfortable and beautiful hotel in the middle of the University of Virginia. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. It’s worth the visit and Charlottesville its a nice town to visit also.

This is a lovely place to stay in Charlottesville. The rooms and lobby are fantastic. We enjoyed the arboretum behind the hotel. The staff is helpful and I love the ability to text requests. The food was a bit disappointing this time compared to previous stays. Nobody staffing the espresso machine and no other options close by. Breakfast was pricey and mediocre.
4.8
Location on campus was excellent.

Room in poor condition. Sliding bathroom door fell off the track so occupant couldn't get out of the bathroom. Custodian fixed it, and it immediately fell out of track again and door remained broken for our entire 2 day visit. Main light in the room also broken and never fixed. Breakfast in the room overcharged by $20. No concierge or help available to get oriented. Very very disappointed in the hotel

Such a lovely stay

The shower had no pressure. Hot water was hard to get. They charge $28 to park. Too much . Parking was $15 in DC!

Loved this hotel. Had not stayed in a Kimpton before. Enjoyed restaurants, staff, lobby, social hour, and room.

We needed to ask to have the bathroom floor cleaned (sticky substance visible on the floor) but the staff who came were great. Nice property, great location.

Definitely understaffed. Especially in the sports bar restaurant. Otherwise loved it. Super clean room & comfy beds and great bar in lobby

My stay at this hotel was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks to its stunning views of the School of Law campus, both during the day and at night. The lobby welcomed me with its warmth, while the library offered a serene workspace, and the lounge became my favorite relaxation spot. Located in a safe and convenient area, it made my visit worry-free.
What truly made my experience unforgettable was the staff's kindness, always going the extra mile to ensure guest satisfaction. This hotel combines the beauty of its surroundings with unparalleled service, making every moment spent here a pleasure.
Highly recommended for an experience that feels like a home away from home. I’m eagerly looking forward to returning.

Beautiful rooms and facility.

Great hotel!! Beautiful place, super comfortable beds and pillows. Service at breakfast was great by manager but poorly by waiters. Overall it is a great place to stay

A nice hotel, pet friendly. Our wire fox terrier loved it. But, the valet only parking is a major aggravation. Charlottesville is not Midtown Manhattan, a better option could have been provided. Probably won’t return.
