About this villa rental
SETTING:
The property is located midway between Florence and Siena, about 30min from both. It is surrounded by cypress and oak woods, olive trees, and vineyards, and it dominates a little lonely valley. We are based in one of the most wooded and well preserved parts of the Chianti Classico area (renowned for its wines and food). The quiet atmosphere of the property allows for frequent sightings of roe-deers (even during daylight hours), istrici (a peculiar kind of porcupine introduced by the Romans, emblem of a 'Contrada' of Siena's Palio), and squirrels.
ACCOMMODATION;
You would be housed in a cosy villa (Red House), facing a quiet cypress glade. The windows and veranda offer a soothing view of the swimming pool and the adjoining green valley. The house is fully restored and equipped. It can accommodate 2 to 4 guests. Please see a more detailed list of facilities in the following. We are also renting a larger country house (Yellow House, unit 11198664 on VRBO). The two houses are fully independent and situated on two different levels of the hill.
GROUND FLOOR: The entrance hall leads to the living room (includes a double sofa bed convertible into two singles; chimney; dining table). Central heating and a washing machine are hidden away in a closet. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, a small oven (a microwave is also available in the living room), a four-burner stove, and a fridge and freezer. The bathroom is located beside the staircase and it is furnished with a shower.
FIRST FLOOR: comfortable master bedroom (160x200cm bed) and a narrow second room equipped with a chair-bed and 6 small windows.
OUTDOORS: A covered veranda leading to the cypress glade can be accessed from the living room. The veranda comes equipped with a table and two armchairs to enjoy meals and reading in the green. A barbecue is also available.
SWIMMING POOL: 83m² (open from mid-April to mid-October). The pool is shared with guests from our other unit. However, separate blocks of parasols and sunbeds on each side offer a private relaxation space.
NEARBY FACILITIES:
The property is extremely quiet. Since the nearest country road is 1.1 km away, our closest neighbors live at a 1.5 km distance. Nonetheless, the village of S.Donato in Poggio (4 km) will provide you with most of the things you might need during your stay. There you will find a well-supplied small supermarket (also open on Sunday mornings), a pharmacy, a bank, a post office, restaurants, bars, a bakery, and other shops.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS:
Despite the private setting, the cities of Florence and Siena are easily reachable by car with a 30 minutes ride. You can bike or drive to the numberless charming hamlets, small villages, churches, castles, and panoramic spots of Chianti nearby. In addition, some examples of what the surroundings have to offer are:
– S.Gimignano, with its well known tower-houses
– S.Appiano
– The palaces of Colle Val d'Elsa, the birthplace of Arnolfo di Cambio (the architect of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence), and the nearby Natural Park, which includes the Diborrato waterfall.
– Certaldo, where Boccaccio, the author of Decameron, lived
– The fortress of Monteriggioni
– The Etruscan city of Volterra
– Montalcino and Val d'Orcia, worldwide famous for “Brunello” wine production
– Hot-springs in Bagno Vignoni, the setting of many scenes from the film Nostalghia by film director Tarkovskij
– Pienza, a magnificent example of the Renaissance “città ideale”
– The seafront in Cecina and Maremma

The little red house is a wonderful place to completely relax and enjoy the Tusan/Chianti countryside. Very secluded and quiet. Easy access to dining options. Our host, Stefano, was very helpful and replied quickly to any questions.

The Red House was a quiet and great place from which to tour the Chianti towns and to use as a base to visit Florence and Siena. It is a great position as it is 30minutes from both by car and is 15mins drive to Castellini In Chianti.
The house is small but proficiently equipped and our needs were met well by Stefano and Hans.
Compared to other properties we are staying in (we are travelling in Italy for 9 weeks), all other houses have not charged extra for gas and electricity- a bit of feedback would be to have this covered in the total rental bill so one knows how much the stay will cost up front- but it certainly wouldn’t be a deal breaker for such a well positioned property in Tuscany.

We stayed at Stefano's Red House after receiving a strong recommendation from friends who visit the property each year. Stefano has taken a lot of care in making his Red House a very special place. The house was in excellent condition and we enjoyed using the very well-kept pool. The property is located in a very central area so it was easy to go on day trips to other villages and Firenze. Stefano has his own vineyard and we enjoyed tasting his wine while unwinding on the patio. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a home base in northern Tuscany.

My husband and I stayed in the little red house for our 1st year anniversary and absolutely loved the peace and quiet the area had to offer. The house had everything we needed, it was the perfect place to close out our European vacation to relax and tour the Tuscany area at our own pace. The pool area is very clean and well maintained. The pathway through the property is beautiful. A lot of work went into this place and it's very impressive at first glance and also that last look before you have to leave. There are enough restaurants in the area that you can easily go for lunch or dinner, which we tried. But after all day touring, it's also nice to have the option to stop at a local grocery store and pick up local foods and eat in the quiet surroundings of the property. Stefano and Han's are great, they are there at arms reach when you need something, but also keep their distance to allow you to enjoy quiet time. We highly recomment this little gem for those of you that want to take in the Tuscany area, we do hope to return again one day soon!!!

A perfect mix of beautiful region, nice, comfortable and romantic accomodation, BIG privacy in the middle of wineyards and olive trees. Own swimming pool for hot summer days. Owners are nice persons and have great wine and olive oil. If you don´t like megatourist sites and prefer the authentic stuff, this is a right place to stay. A couple of words for czech readers: prostě vynikající volba pro autentickou dovolenou v komfortu a fantastickém klidu, přitom vše na dosah, celé zasazené do úžasné krajiny. Výhrady? žádné.

We stayed in Red House for a week at the end of March/beginning of April and had a wonderful time. The house suited us really well (2 adults and 2 children), it had everything we needed (including wine from the vineyard and olive oil from Stefano's vineyard and olive trees....both tasting amazing!). It was a great base and perfectly located to easily reach some amazing parts of Tuscany - we visited Florence, Siena, Pisa, Castellina in Chianti...and more...and spent a day just exploring the area around the house, which was really nice too. The kids loved it, and especially loved the cats! Thank you for a wonderful holiday that felt like a lot longer than a week!

The house is perfect, in the middle of a wooded area and surrounded by grape and olive plantations, secluded yet close all your needs. Luca was really accommodating and was there at our arrival and departure, he explained every detail regarding the house and all it's features. There was nothing left to be desired. Super clean, and well furbished. And a pool! Absolutely amazing place. Highly, highly recommended.

The property has all one needs for a great holiday in Tuscany. It is nicely renovated, fully equipped and the location is just superb. Florence and Siena are in close proximity, but still it is hidden among small Tuscan villages. The owner and manager were very helpful and friendly, the house was perfectly prepared and we were welcomed with local wine and flowers. There are also many great restaurants in the vicinity, yet it is not flooded with tourists. We spent our honeymoon here and would definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for a relayed holiday. We hope to come back in future!
