Staff were really nice, the lodge was fairly clean, very spacious and had good amenities. Food was nice however overpriced for what it is. Breakfast was included in the room however and was very nice. Again staff were very friendly and I did receive a discount for not being able to use the hot tub.
I specifically booked this lodge for the hot tub as a anniversary gift, we got there and a lovely lady checked us in and took us to our room. She went to show us our to work the hot tub and discovered it 1, was only half full, 2, wasn’t preheated and 3, we couldn’t heat it or fill it as the hose was frozen. I understand the current weather however if they can’t offer the hot tub during the winter then it shouldn’t be available. It should’ve been preheated before we arrived. The lodge heating also wasn’t on when we arrived and it was freezing. The staff were very good and very apologetic and gave us a hefty discount on our dinner which was great. The food however was very over priced, is was good food but definitely not worth the prices, if you’re a tiramisu lover then don’t have it, it was awful. Following this we had a lovely sleep that was unfortunately cut short due to the fire alarm going off in the morning. We evacuated the lodge and walked to the front of the pub to find no body. The alarm was going off for approximately 15 minutes and no one checked for any guests, it was simply turned off and we went back to our room. Breakfast was nice, it was included in the room and the staff again were very friendly however over all I think we just had a bit of bad luck . Would come again in summer season when the hot tubs are guaranteed

It’s very peaceful and has all the facilities required.
There could be a higher fence or more trees to offer more privacy from the neighbours with the hot tub rooms. Nothing major

Room and location were very good.
The evening dinners were average and chosen meals not avaliable.
The morning breakfasts were poor. Top of beans dried out. Eggs not cooked and runny inside, with hollandaise sauce split. No butter with toast until we asked.

Quiet location close to Newmarket. Beautiful setting. Excellent pub with great food. Spacious accommodation finished to a very high standard. Very comfortable stay. Look forward to a return visit.

Overall, fantastic accommodation, a 30-minute drive to Newmarket Racecourse. We stayed here rather than a typical hotel in Cambridge following live music at the Racecourse and definitely made the better choice.
The staff were really friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived.
The room was spacious and clean, and the log burner hot tub was warm on arrival and an amazing touch. Clean and Modern bathroom.
The pub itself is located in the lovely village of Barrow with shops nearby and nice walks. There has been substantial renovation work completed to the traditional village pub with a new large glass restaurant extension to the rear and landscaped pub garden however it retains the small cosy snug areas in the old pub but brings them up to a modern standard with additional lighting and comfy benches. Clearly designed with the a chef's input; with the large, clean, kitchen being made a focal point in the new restaurant with great offerings on the menu.
A Coffee Machine is available in the room although this replaces a kettle. Fresh milk was provided for the room rather than plastic UHT cartons. The staff were sure to offer alternative milks if we would prefer them.
Breakfast was fantastic and is served in the main restaurant of the pub looking out into the gardens.
One night definitely wasn't enough and we hope to return in the future. However, without the option to stay for one night we would never have stumbled across it!
The countryside location has the downside of flies, of which a good few made it into the room. Some sort of flyspray or plug in repellent in the room would help.
A small cooler or fridge would be great to keep the fresh milk, water or a bottle of Fizz cold.

Breakfast was fine. Rooms were good quality but missing small touches. Four hangers in a room for four people is inadequate. No toilet paper in bathroom. Nice shower but slippy - someone will fall and injure themselves. No space in bathroom for one's toiletries - a shelf or two would help.
The admin. Having paid in advance, it was not good to have the hotel effectively accusing me of skipping without paying the bill.....
