Ideal stay close to metro station fir taking us to our destination

A wonderful hotel in a quiet part of Newcastle within easy reach of the city or the Tyneside coast.

The hotel is in a quiet residential area of Newcastle. The city centre is within easy reach. Wallsend Metro station is around a 15 minute walk away. The hotel building is understated and homely with appealing and interesting decor. Check-in was very smooth and the proprietor, Stan, is a very friendly and helpful host. He went above and beyond duty which I am eternally grateful for. Thank you so much. The room was very spacious with one of the biggest televisions I have ever seen on the wall. The room had a small bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and the bathroom was clean with all the essentials well stocked. Breakfast was included in the price for the room and we were well catered for with a buffet in which you could help yourself to a continental style breakfast with the option of having a cooked breakfast as well if a good old English fry-up is what you desire. We had scrambled eggs with our toast and they were cooked perfectly. We would definitely stay at the Dorset Arms on future visits to Newcastle.

There was only one minor bugbear and that was a problem with the toilet flush. It wasn't flushing properly and that was a bit of a bummer - but it really was the ONLY thing that let down an otherwise wonderful stay in a beautiful hotel.

A relaxing stay in a quiet residential area.

A lovely building with a large garden in a quiet suburban location, the hotel is a purpose built early 20th Century building with very high quality interior and a spacious conservatory. The bedroom was comfortable and quiet. There was a good choice of cold or cooked breakfast. The host was very friendly and welcoming.

The television did not work (a common problem with many hotels) and there was a leak in the shower although this did not affect its operation.

Disappointing

Its friendly hosts & staff, location close to metro, beautiful garden and safe car park.

Slamming & squeaky doors, some other unrecognisable frequent loud noises that didn't stop at night, rocky bed, unusable shower due to water dripping on the bathroom floor from upstairs bedroom during the day of our arrival, all night and all morning. An awful night's sleep.

Great place to stay

The Dorset Arms is a lovely hotel in a quiet neighbourhood. Stan is fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. would highly recommend!

Unfortunately the hot water was playing up but Stan was very apologetic
