There’s multiple onsen’s on site that are fabulous. There’s table tennis, air hockey and food and drink on hand. Great staff and service was exceptional. Shuttle bus on hand to take you into town and drop off at the bus terminal.

Rooms: We had the Executive Suite which had a living room and bedroom and a tub on the balcony too facing the courtyard. It was spacious for a family of 4. I think the living room had two sofa couches, but because we have little kids we didn't use it. It was on the East wing which seems like the larger rooms on that side. Everything was clean and in good condition. There was an air room filter and heat control. Also heated floors in the bathroom sink area which we used to dry our snow clothes and gloves. Our toilet had a lid which opened automatically and flushed automatically. The best toilet!
At least in my wing of the building it was quiet. I hardly heard any noise outside, through the walls or outside my door. I think I didn't visit during a busy time, but non-the-less the rooms seem pretty sound proof.
They refresh your room everyday and replace the water bottles, towels, toiletries and yukata. I saw staff cleaning the outside of room windows so it seems they work hard to keep the rooms clean.
The hotel's general appearance is older and some things like the hallway carpet needs updating. Also the private onsens don't have a bathing area and that needed repair. The public onsen is nicer than the private ones.
Service: All the staff is nice and helpful if you ask questions. The staff at the breakfast buffet are a bit sleepy and the younger generation, but hey. . .I'd be like that too if I had to wake up early and work late. I think the staff were the same ones during dinner. So they must have some kind of split shift.
The country has a more laid back feel, so unlike in Tokyo where they have a lot of staff meandering around, the staff here are more in the background. Of course if you need something, they are always around to ask questions and there are always people at the front desk to welcome incoming people.
Location: Its not easy to get to and from the ski hills if you're using all the different shuttle busses.
Shuttles that run more often because unless you have a car you can't get around very easily.

Amazing service, location, food!

the location, the facilities, the excellent staff especially Mr James from Canada!
it would be helpful if the front desk staff could speak English a bit better but it’s not a problem at all. also, if the breakfast could change a little. the menu was same and it got so boring after eating the same food all the time.

what’s not to like! gorgeous property, roomy lodging. the onsen’s are amazing. the free snacks after skiing, the free wine in the evening, the dinner at the restaurant was heavenly. we were so spoiled! it was amazing being able to rent skis from the property. and the shuttle service was amazing. we hardly had to think of a thing! wish we could go back right now. also, we don’t have kids but we were so impressed with how they accommodate for families - kids utensils at breakfast, video games in the hang out area, even a kids toilet seat in the bathrooms!
I will say the shuttle schedule they tell you about for drop off and pick up wasn’t really the schedule they followed. you pretty much had to arrange each time you needed the shuttle. but really not a problem, they are super quick to respond to phone calls if you need a pickup.

I am not generally one to review locations I stay in, but Hotel Sierra was unreal! The staff, the breakfast, the facilities were all amazing.
I would like to thank Suzuki (front desk) and Big Bear (bus driver) for all of the help from the day we arrived to the day we checked out. The Ski shop rental worker was also great, he was happy to swap my snowboard to skis, then back to a snow board all within 3 days (due to an injury)
The staff members here are the definition of great customer service 🙏🏼
A few things that these staff members helped out with that would normally not be of interest to other hotels/staff:
- I had left my laptop on a bus on the way to Hakuba. The staff contacted and located my laptop, then picked it up for me. I had it back in less than 24 hours!!!
- Travels can be hard around Hakuba without a car. The staff drove me, then collected me from a doctors clinic after getting X-rays on a injured shoulder.
- Adjusting drop off pick up times around Hakuba to suit our needs. almost like a personal valet 😂
- Dropping me off to a second resort, then within 4 hours re-booking me back in Hotel Sierra due to a horrible experience at a Glamping Resort.
Thank you to the staff at Hotel Sierra for the amazing experience.

We really appreciated the service we received from the staff as they were really helpful and quick to accommodate our needs. The facilities such as the private onsen were really nice and the breakfast buffet were also tasty.
We could not adjust the temperature of the room/could not turn off the floor heating so it was quite warm during the night.

Location was amazing. I loved the little treats and details that could be found at any time all over the place.
The dinner menu was nice, but more options would have been better. Also, it was terribly difficult to make a reservation.

The facilities, in particular the onsen, were amazing. The restaurant was delicious and good value. The free coffee/tea & wine lounge was very enjoyable as well as free food on outdoor deck. Ski rental and locker were very good quality and value.
It would have be nice if there was a Japanese menu/restaurant on site.

A beautiful place to stay in winter as the hotel premise gets covered with snow. So if you’re in the hotel you will be treated with fantastic view. The hotel staffs in general are very hospitable and go a long way to make you happy. The place has a all day food and drinks counter open for its guests. Moreover the restaurant at Sierra resort serves excellent food - be it dinner or buffet. The rooms are nice and cozy with a nice view.

Service from the staff was top notch, the onsens (public and private) were great, the meals (breakfast buffet included) were tasty (including the free curry, soup, and wine!) and the surroundings were beautiful.
The only downside here is if you don't have the ability to drive yourself around Hakuba. The resort is a bit further away from most things (though this adds to its secluded charm and it's not easy to get around.

We loved the ambiance of the whole place. The staff were very accommodating and efficiently attended to our every need. Our private onsen experience was amazing and it’s free! They served wonderful breakfast with a waterfall view.
We wish they provided complimentary water in the rooms. Our room was a bit further from the main lobby where there is free water, tea, and wine. Other than that, best hotel we’ve stayed in Japan so far.
