About this house rental
Summary:
This charming 4-bedroom saltbox home makes the perfect home base from which to explore beautiful Twillingate. Located in the heart of town, this sweet home is perched on a hill overlooking Twillingate Harbour. You'll be a short walk to a few local restaurants and a longer walk (i.e. 20 minutes) or short drive to all that Twillingate has to offer. As is common with some older saltboxes, this home has low ceilings on the upper level (6 feet)
The Space:
You'll enter the home from the back porch, which is common in outport NL. From there you'll enter a hallway that leads to the eat-in kitchen. Also on the main floor you'll find a comfy sitting area, a laundry room and a full bathroom. The home has 4-bedrooms on the 2nd floor. There are two rooms facing the water, one with a queen bed, and the other with a double bed. The other two bedrooms are in the back of the home, each with a single bed. As is common with old saltbox houses, the ceilings on the 2nd floor are a tad low so you may need to duck going through doorways.
Guest Access:
The entire home is yours to enjoy.
The Neighborhood:
Stockley's Saltbox home is located on Twillingate's south island, with views of Twillingate's harbour and a short walking distance to a few neighbourhood restaurants. The centre of town is approximately a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive.
Getting Around:
Driving is the most typical way that visitors explore Twillingate and area. That said, it is a walker/hikers dream. Whether you prefer the road or the trails, there is so much to explore. Just steps from Stockley's Saltbox, you can walk to beautiful beaches, search for root cellars and even spot icebergs out at sea. The home is up a fairly steep hill. If you do plan on walking, this is something to keep in mind.

The property was great! It is a heritage home so if you’re taller than 5’10, you will have to hunch.

Would recommend this spot to anyone. Great location near the water, a quick drive or no more than a 30 minutes walking to anywhere you’d want to go within the town of Twillingate. Well appointed, it had everything we needed to cook a meal or two. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of space and chairs on the front and back deck. Everything was very clean and well kept.

This was the best equipped place I’ve ever stayed at. It was beautifully decorated and the artwork by the owner all around the house was amazing. The kitchen was a dream with everything we needed at our fingertips and the rooms were cute and comfortable. The washer and dryer worked well and the shower had great pressure. It’s an old house and the doorways upstairs are low so watch your head. I highly recommend this place and would stay here again.

Our family of six enjoyed our stay at Stockley’s Saltbox. The home is cozy and comfortable with a great view of the harbor. We appreciated having easy access to the sites and activities in Twillingate. We also enjoyed the home’s cozy feel during a rainy afternoon. We appreciated having access to laundry. Do watch the height of the upstairs doors! Our tall son had to be mindful. Highlights of Twillingate included seeing whales, attending the dinner theater and visiting the nearby lighthouse.

The house is beautifully decorated and clean and cozy. Beds are quite comfortable and clean. Everything available for your stay. It was very warm in the afternoon, at night with the windows open it was a beautiful crisp breeze. The only downfall is that there is no bathroom upstairs so it wasn’t comfortable on having to go downstairs for washroom. There needs to be more parking as well and maybe a privacy fence around back of back patio. More fans also needed for this time of year.

The house was perfect. The location, the layout, the decor. We saw loads of icebergs, brought awesome handmade crafts and had a great meal at Pier 39. It was cold and rainy but it was so nice to come back to the cute cozy house.

We quite enjoyed our stay. We intended to visit Fogo Island but we opted to relax. We’ve done quite a bit of driving since we left Bedford NS.
We quite enjoyed the icebergs, they weren’t real big but beautiful colours on the bottom of what you can see.
House was nice and clean and comfortable, as were the beds.
