Freundliche Menschen, bequeme Betten.

Die Lage macht die Unterkunft interessant. Wir waren unter der Woche in Brighton und trotz der Nähe zum Pier haben wir wunderbar ruhig und bequem geschlafen. Das Guesthouse ist (wie die meisten Häuser) etwas älter. Schiefe Böden und enge Badezimmer gehören für uns aber mit zum südenglischen Charme.

It was perfect for what I needed it to be - a place to sleep, clean myself and relax at the end of a busy two week trip.

Good location to the beach, to a local supermarket and to many food places. The bed was comfy and with the heater the room was very nice at night. Clothes hangers were great and the tea/kettle were good.

Shower was tiny but that is understandable given the size of the property. Washing clothes was hard because there was no hairdryer to dry them, however the heater dried them over night and it was good to have clothes hangers to hang them on off the chair. The kettle didn’t fit under the tap in the bathroom so I filled cups to then fill the kettle, which was still doable.

Value for money for one night stay

Location right next to the sea. Comfy bed. Helpful staff.

Very noisy, walls must be very thin and a lot of door slamming. Bathroom badly designed, a huge bath made it difficult to sit on the loo, a shower would have taken up less space.

Decent place to stay on a budget with good location.

Location was great and really convenient, close to everything and walked so no need for transport.

Our room was situated at the front so when people were checking out the front door did slam and wake us up, we could hear up stairs quite easily also with walking and was louder when people were checking out. It is an old building so isn’t the proprietors fault, it’s just something to thing about as it didn’t really bother us too much as we were out early ourselves each day.

Expensive, dirty and won’t be returning.

The location

There was no iron, the signal on the tv kept going off, the room was dirty with stains over the wall. People coming up and downstairs all night outside our room meant we couldn’t sleep. Extortionate price for what it’s like. Won’t be returning

Nothing personal but there are reasons why hotels charge 200+

I like the staff, Naomi, Valeria, the Portuguese girl and the Moroccan. They are all pretty and helpful. They remembered my name and gave me a discount. The Turkish owner was interesting when we discussed Scotland and was nice.

I am tired of getting massively overcharged in the 'musical chairs' game that is Brighton hottelery. There is NO WAY THAT THIS HOTEL OR RATHER, HOSTEL/INN, DESERVES A TARIFF OF 180-250+ POUNDS JUST BECAUSE IT IS FRIDAY, SATURDAY OR EVEN SUNDAY. 80-100+ during weekdays is excessive. Even if you can get away with it, does it mean you should? There are one or two hotels that charge 250 +, like 4 stars. 1. There is no phone in the room if I remember correctly. 2. There is no lift or staff to help with bags, who seem overworked as it is. 3. I can't remember if there is a TV. Don't think so, but I never watch it. 4. WIFI is intermittently good. 5. The shower is tiny and cheap. No bath. It leaks very easily. 6. No room service or food at all, no fridge, no food allowed in the room. 7. 10:30 am check-out?! Thanks.

Our stay was comfortable and we had a restful stay in the guest house. The staffs were all nice, helpful and welcoming.

The property is situated very near the grand pier about 5-10 mins walk and city center around 5-10 mins walk as well. So many shops around and restaurants.

The property doesn’t have lift and we were on the top floor and we had a baby. Would it be better if we were on the ground floor but still okay.

it’s was very dated, toilet smashed and dangerous, wardrobe no door, no hangers made from different bits of wood. curtains fall off rail and to small for the window meaning light all night, tv no signal on any channels, no parking

Not a very happy stay at The Old Palace Guest House

The location is great, close to the sea front & in bustling Kemp town. The bed & pillows, for us were comfy.

The room needs attention & a refurb. It's cold, very, we stayed during a bitterly cold weekend & on max, the rad was only warm, it needed bleeding...I said this to the manager/owners, they said they'd look at it & never did - they gave us an electric fan heater after I'd asked for one - the plug was open! My partner had a pocket screw driver so tightened it, we could have been harmed using the appliance like that! The TV picked up just 3 channels, we told the manager/owners who said they'd look at it the next day - we were out most of that next day & the TV hadn't been looked at. They said someone could look at it when we returned but it wasn't convenient at that time, for us & it never was fixed, no apology, nothing. The shower ran cold, every few mins! It was also clogged with limescale. The extractor fan was full of dust/fluff. The lock on the door was very loose also. All of these are easily sorted & should be for the comfort of paying customers! We paid £147 for 2 nights, this doesn't inc breakfast & I'm sorry, the room wasn't worth anywhere near that. I did read reviews before we booked & noted a small bathroom, for us, that wasn't really an issue. However, I have since read a good few customers saying similar to me here - so, there clearly are issues that haven't been addressed. We wouldn't stay again, good location or not!

Excellent location. Staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable. We all slept really well.

Shower room was uncomfortably tiny, but manageable for us.

Good position right near the seafront and all amenities. It was basic but clean. Shower cubicle was small and the water pressure dropped to a point where it wouldn't run at all for about 10 seconds before coming on again.

dirty, uncomfortable and soul crushingly hideous. i left the room in the middle of the night to sleep in my car in a mul

absolutely noting, it was easily the most awful place I have ever stayed in my life. i left to sleep in my car.

the room was small and dirty, the shower and bathroom was also so tiny you could barely move. the sheets smelt like pepper and sweat. i presume the sheets were clean but I don’t think anything under them was. I have without doubt never in my life stayed in such a hideous establishment. it was soul crushing and a total insult to think it was suitable to rent out.
