Very clean and comfortable room. Restaurant had delicious food.
It would have been helpful to have a coffee and small refrigerator in room.

Food in restaurant was quite good. Service terrible.

Great location - close to ferry and start of Væroy walks; Nice restaurant on site
Shared shower room and toilet were on a different floor

Accommodations were extremely minimal esp. for the price. No hair dryer and no shower cap. How does a woman take a shower and then expect to go outside in very cool weather. With wet head to catch a cold.

The quality and warmth of our time at the Byggehotel AS in Vaeroy was a spectacular surprise. From beginning to end, we experienced personable, above-and-beyond care from an urbane and thoughtful owner, and exquisite food and service from a world-class kitchen staff. All this came at a time when the owner and staff were also still scrambling to complete a comprehensive upgrade of the property and its facilities.
Even though the Bryggehotel is located on the water less than a kilometer from the ferry landing, our first choice for lodging had actually been Gamle Prestegard on the other side of the island. That was because Lonely Planet described Gamle Prestegard as Vaeroy's "smartest lodging and dining." But we were unable to reserve a spot there, so we settled for the Bryggehotel which had only recently been listed on Booking.com. With all due respect to Gamle Prestegard, we couldn't have been happier with the outcome. And based on our experience, there's not much doubt that the title of smartest lodging and dining on the island is now up for grabs.
The physical character of Vaeroy is every bit as stunning as the islands further north. But it's nowhere near as heavily visited. Our own original reason for going there was that it saved us the extra 979 NKR it would have cost us to take our rented car directly from Bodo to Moskenes. Next trip to the Lofotens, we're going back to Vaeroy and the Bryggehotel . . . whether or not we save money on the car.

Even the few difficulties we experienced became exceptions that proved the rule. Our ferry arrived just a little before midnight so all normal services were shut down until the following day. But renovations to the property were still ongoing, and the TV in our room had somehow not yet been hooked up. Fifteen minutes after we pointed that out to the person who showed us to our room, the owner knocked on our door to see what was going on. He apologized profusely and then returned a few minutes later with a bottle of wine and a beautiful cheese and sausage board to comp us for the inconvenience. That would have made us feel like royalty at any time of day, but coming a little after 1:00 AM made it all the more extraordinary.
