Located in a quiet rural area (within a cork tree plantation) yet only a few minutes drive from Evora, one of the most attractive cities in Portugal. This is one of the few places we have found to stay where you can relax totally knowing that if you have any queries or requests the hosts Monique and Wim, who speak excellent English and are a mine of local information, will be at your service.
The rooms are large and well equiped and the site has an excellent swimming pool, covered car parking and lovely gardens where you are free to roam at will. You need to like animals as you will soon be approached by three large, but very friendly dogs.
We were lucky to have the excellent and entertaining company of fellow guests from Portugal and New Zealand.
The thought that giving positive reviews like this might make the place too well known and popular!

Everything at Quinta do Cano exceeded expectations. The property is stunning with numerous spaces to read, snack, rest, or take in the incredible views of the garden, olive trees, Roman Aqueduct, the valley . . . The dogs are an added bonus and beyond friendly. The hosts provide cold drinks and snacks for a small fee, but cake, coffee, and tea are complimentary. The 10 euro breakfast was worth every cent for the location alone. This was one of the most beautiful properties I enjoyed in Portugal and definitely recommend it.
For some reason the GPS doesn't track the location to Quinta do Cano. Monique will send you directions which ended up working perfectly. Not a negative - just something to watch for your first time getting there.

I cannot recommend it enough!! We only stayed for a night but wish we stayed longer to relax by the pool and enjoy the surrounding nature. The room was spacious and super comfortable, not to mention very clean! The hosts are amazing and will make you feel at home with an amazing breakfast, the possibility to have dinner at the property on the outside patio (which we didn’t try unfortunately) and cakes available for the whole day :) The pool is definitely a bonus. Evora is a 4 minute drive from the Quinta and is worth a visit. Overall Quinta do Cano is a magical place and we will be back eventually!!

Convenient for Evora - 5 minutes drive. In the countryside. Close to the 114. Pretty garden and views. Very helpful hosts. Pool & sun loungers in sun & shade. Breakfast good. Can order evening meals. Very dog friendly - they have to be as they have 3 Irish Wolf Hounds, a retriever, terrier, and dachshund.

Monique and Wim have opened their home and lovely landscaped gardens to guests for many years and it is a beautiful and tranquil rural setting. It was originally bought by Wim's parents. It is full of character, personal touches, interesting possessions and lots of dogs including several gentle Irish Wolfhounds - 2 pigs and some donkeys. The setting, amongst the cork trees and gardens is beautiful and you can sit on the terraces to relax. After dinner in Evora, we joined Wim and Monique and other guests for a night cap and next day had a delicious home made breakfast in the morning at a big table with the other guests. There is an honesty bar and an area for making teas and coffee.
As you can see from the photos the bedrooms are quite 80s - but it's all very comfortable and clean and the Rose room was particularly pretty.

Quinta do Cano was everything we could have hoped it to be and more. Hosts Wim and Monique were wonderful. They offered breakfast and dinner at excellent rates, and were very hospitable, attending to any needs we may have had. They provided wonderful recommendations and engaged in insightful conversation throughout our stay. The bedroom was comfortable and private. The preparation and decoration of the bedroom (and bathroom) were very welcoming. The outdoor environment was peaceful. Even the location was extremely convenient: close to the center of town, while avoiding the hustle and bustle. The hosts' directions for arriving were also very clear and easy to follow. When we find ourselves back in Évora, we will definitely book with them again!
