the beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked. those are the positives. Here are some things that should be improved:
the kitchen was not well equipped. You could not cook a proper meal there. There were only 3 forks and only a couple of utensils. very few pots and pans. only a couple coffee mugs.
the back yard and deck are in terrible shape.
the man door on the garage had no doorknob, so it was not secure.
we didn't spend a lot of time in the house, only to sleep and have breakfast.

Great pet home, but needs TLC. Front door needs attention as well as garage doors. Garage door opener didn’t work as well as upstairs landing light fixture. Bedroom fan? Good communication from host.

A nightmare!

House was clean & comfortable for our family of 4. Young adult children appreciated having their own sleeping spaces instead of sharing a hotel bed. 15 minutes or less from Miller Park and downtown, easy to get to our destinations. We’d stay here again on our next trip.

This house is pretty old and worn, but being pet friendly some of that is expected. It worked for what we needed for the weekend.
PROS:
GREAT communication with owner
Nice neighborhood, felt safe,
Though old things worked as far as appliances etc.
Close to a decent little grocery store
CONS
Parking is really not good. Garage door opener didn't work and the door into it had no handle so can't be locked. Parked on the street, sometimes half a block away from the house
Front door is super hard to lock/unlock and the door is so warped it never really closes well. It would do the owner well to replace the front door and install a keypad rather than an old style realtor box
Mow the yard before renters arrive. Pet friendly is awesome and appreciated, but it is hard to clean up after a dog if the grass is so high you can't find the poop.
We would rent from Mike again as the price reflects the condition and issues but would happily pay a bit more for a couple upgrades

This was a perfect location for us and the house itself has vintage attributes with modern conveniences. The neighborhood is very quiet. The 2 car garage is a plus. Although our. vehicle was too high to fit, the on street parking across from the house was well lit. Agree with some other reviews that noted some minor repair to had rail, a hall light fixture and a deck rail could use some attention. But overall, we loved it, asked if we could stay 2 extra days if not reserved and that process was very simple and went smoothly. Mike was quick to respond to all inquiries. And price was definitely a plus these days. (Also keep in mind, the bathroom is upstairs, which was not an issue for us but a bit of a work out for my 90yo aunt that wanted to see the place)

The location was wonderful. Furniture is old and shows wear along withe fridge & microwave. Floor in one of the bedrooms was very sticky like someone spilt a bottle of soda & it was never cleaned up. Felt very safe in this neighborhood. Overall worth the nightly rate and would stay again.

The house smelled like dog. It was a bad odor. Sheets on the bed didn't smell clean either

The house is old and has some charm! It could use a deep cleaning, but overall, it worked for what we were looking for! (Just a place to sleep and leave all of our stuff). Some updates could have helped. The railing was not secured properly and the basement was not locked. We felt safe in this neighborhood but know that the garage door is always unlocked. Worth the stay to save the money for our whole family but would love to see some improvements made.

It was a GREAT little house! 3 comfortable rooms, nice bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and living room.
It felt predestined- as it came complete with a Lego keychain, on our Lego trip. Simply great!

We had a great stay here! The property is conveniently located for easy access to the city and various sites. We enjoyed a day trip to Chicago and Madison. A couple of pro tips - as noted by others, the fence and door to the backyard needs repair, so we were unable to allow our dog to be leash free. Also, the railing going upstairs was unusable. The kitchen could be stocked better. The front door was very difficult to open, so we just used the back door and opened the garage door from inside instead of using the opener. Overall, we had plenty of space and there were plenty of linens. The neighborhood was very quiet and neighbors were friendly.

This house is in an extremely quiet nice little neighborhood close to all kinds of restaurants, coffee shops, night life etc. For the price it is a perfectly affordable place to sleep.I do not recommend it for handicap travelers, as the only bathroom and all bedrooms are upstairs. We enjoyed our weekend stay with our cat.

We're not sure why previous renters gave such high ratings for this property. We arrived very late at night and were dismayed by the condition in terms of cleanliness, safety (broken handrail going up stairs, light fixture hanging from ceiling), health (pungent odor throughout), and dilapidated furniture, as well as the poor interior of the property. Because it was so late, we stayed the night but left early the next day. We contacted the host who did apologize but blamed previous renters. That seemed unlikely. VRBO was little help. The host agreed to refund 50% however. We'll report back if/when we receive any refund.

My husband and I came to visit (my first visit in Wisconsin) and had a great time. Mike was very easy to get ahold of when we locked ourselves out of the house, whoops! Also, he has a working fireplace which was great to sit around during our winter stay. We always prefer staying in a house when we travel, and this cute, old house was perfect for our needs. It has a garage and nice backyard which is always a plus. Wauwatosa is a short car ride to downtown, but it also has its own little strip of nice shops and restaurants. Thanks for letting us stay!

We spent a long weekend going to sporting events. House was clean and tidy. Nice area, very quiet. Backyard states fenced in but it’s not 100% so we had to have our dog on a leash. That was disappointing. Also the garage door opener didn’t work and with the snow storm that was very inconvenient.
Overall, very nice. Easy check in and out. We would recommend!

Four of us stayed here, for a 3-bedroom in a nice neighborhood, this is a steal. Owner was very responsive, provided local recommendations upon request. Accessible restaurants and stores, close to Tosa village.
Property is a bit dated, railings on inside and outside stairs are loose. Very clean, beds were generally comfortable. One bathroom on second floor. Inside stairs are steep- fine for us but when my 80 year old mother came by, she was not comfortable climbing the stairs.
Overall, would recommend.

Nice and roomy house close to Fiserv for our trip to the Bucks game. Mike was extremely communicative and his house was clean and spacious with plenty of room for 4 to sleep. A garage to park in was a nice bonus. Would recommend to anyone traveling to the area.

The house was clean and easy to find. It was in a quiet neighborhood and the listing was accurate. My friend and I enjoyed our weekend away!

We came in for a short trip to visit family in the area and due to dog allergies, needed to find a place that would allowed for a small dog.
Mike and I had a short exchange before we came in, and he is a very easy going host.
The house is off of a fairly busy street, but set back just enough that you really can’t hear any of the traffic. It’s a good size home for the era, plenty of space for a family of 4 or 5 to spread out and not get in each other’s way, except for the bathroom, because one bath is the norm for these old houses.
The house was clean and since we were coming in at night, Mike left lights on for us so we didn’t have to fumble around figuring out the switches.
The house itself is also very quiet - an old house without weird creeks, couldn’t even hear the furnace running. Very easy to fall asleep and stay asleep!
All three bedrooms are upstairs. We used the main bedroom, and found the bed comfortable.
The backyard isn’t huge, but great for a small dog, and the neighborhood is nice and safe, so our dog preferred to walk.
Why diamond in the ruff? Well, if you’re looking for a posh modern place with all new everything for your stay, this isn’t it. What this is, is a really cool old house that is clean, in a safe neighborhood, with a garage and a good host that allows dogs.
Next time we travel to MKE we hope Mike’s place is available!

Home was so cute and cozy. Yard was perfect size for pups, and the neighborhood is nice and safe to walk in. Lots of great dining close by. Home is located right off of main road making travel convenient. The only downside for me was 1 restroom, upstairs- but that’s old houses for you! Thanks for a great stay

We had a nice stay, close to the zoo, and shopping. Loved the built in cabinets and shelves, reminded me of visiting my grandparents house. 😀

We needed a quick overnight stay while in the area. This worked out perfectly! Quiet neighborhood, and very easy to get to and fro to all the activities in the area! Thank you!

Overall a terrific stay -- a value for the price -- home is cozy with both vintage and modern touches.
Kitchen has adequate supplies (maybe add a couple more coffee mug options), living and dining rooms are spacious (for a cozy home), bedrooms (3) and full bath are located upstairs. Master is large, secondary has more than enough room and third is perfect for a single individual. Plenty of towels and appreciated the bath accessories (shower gel, shampoo, etc).
Also was excited to have a box fan in bedroom #2 -- as our stay was late September and the outdoor temps were 80+. Suggested future upgrade for consideration would be 14" mattresses in bedrooms -- but slept like a rock as is.
Location is excellent -- 12 minute driver to American Family Field, 5 minute drive to downtown Tosa, 15 minute drive to downtown MKE and the Historic Third Ward (via State all the way), easy to find off WI Hwy 43 -- quiet neighborhood. Parking was easy out front (east side of street only) AND in 2-car garage.
This Ab&b will just get better and better as add'l updates are made -- feels like this place is fantastic work in process (most of the way there), and absolutely acceptable in it's current state.
Will look for this rental again on next (cool night) overnight visit to Tosa/MKE.
