About this house rental
'Spa by the Sea' is a 1920's renovated character bungalow situated in a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood in the seaside suburb of Petone, home to the many cafes, restaurants and boutique shops along the vibrant Jackson Street. Come and enjoy a swim and maybe some Friday night 'fish & chips' at the safe swimming Petone beach followed by a relaxing soak in our private outdoor spa pool!
This perfect location with its 30 second walk to the beach and 15 minute drive to Wellington City offers many opportunities to explore both Petone and the capital city. 'Spa by the Sea' sleeps up to 7 people, offers off street parking and is fully fenced in the front and back yards. Pets are welcome too however this needs to be communicated clearly in the booking.
Petone is well known for its wining and dining, art galleries and op shopping along Jackson St which after Ponsonby Road, has more eateries than any street in NZ. There are at least 60 eateries within 800 metres to suit all tastes and budgets along with locally brewed coffee and treats!
Jackson St is a street-sized international smorgasbord with tasty bites from many parts of the globe including Korea, Italy, Vietnam, France, Thailand, Turkey, America, The Netherlands, South Africa, Mexico, China, India, Malaysia and Cambodia. Petone is also home to the Early Settlers Museum, Light House movie Cinema and Te Puna Wai Ora (the spring of life) - Petone's pure artesian water fountain where many come from afar to fill up their bottles.
Close to public transport, Petone is also a great spot to stay if coming to Wellington City for an event. It's a 12 minute train ride to the Sky Stadium, home to many high profile sports games and concerts.
Spa by the Sea also has wifi, Weber BBQ, a smart TV with streaming apps and a Nespresso coffee maker which fits the original Nespresso sized pods and the other compatible brands made specifically for this design of machine.

We loved our stay, this home is steps from the beach and a short walk to the restaurant area of Jackson St. The food here is delicious, especially Ruchi Indian food. Also special mention for the Vietnamese Restaurant and Cafe (literally the name).
The house itself was clean, comfortable, and a perfect spot for our family of four adults. Like a home away from home. Highly recommended.

My family (2 adults, 1 child) stayed at Spa by the Sea for a week. I grew up in the area, my family have visited a couple of times. We're familiar with Petone and Wellington in general.
The house is a short drive from both Ava and Petone train stations for are transit, a similar drive to local shops including food, groceries, souvenirs, and other attractions. It is just a few steps from the Petone foreshore and beach.
The house was clean and warm, the spa was excellent, and the hosts reasonable, responsive, and accommodating of our slightly weird itinerary.
Given our family in the area we are likely to return in the future, and Spa by the Sea, if available, will absolutely be our first choice.

This was an absolutely beautiful home but booked for some visiting family. The house if full of character and much larger than we expected. With 3 good size bedroom and 2 bathrooms, separate lounge and dining rooms and a well equipped kitchen, it had everything we needed and more.
The back yard is fully enclosed and private with a hot tub and BBQ.
The location was also extremely convenient - literally right across the street from the Petone waterfront and right down the road from Jackson Street which is lined with heaps of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops.
The owner was extremely accommodating and communicative.
We honestly could not have lucked out with a better home for the visit. Thanks!

A large beautifully renovated historic home full of charm. As soon as you enter this beautiful property, you’ll feel the warm and welcoming vibe. Its modern and vintage blended complementary with its stained-glass windows, clawfoot bathtub, and large open kitchen. This spacious house has several separate living rooms, making it perfect for a large family.

Our stay at this property was fantastic! The property manager provided excellent communication prior to and throughout the stay. The house was clean with cozy furniture providing an excellent base for adventuring in Wellington and a hot tub spa for relaxing at the end of the day. The location is excellent, within view of the bay and a short drive into the CBD of Wellington.

The house was very clean and tidy. We loved the stylish furnitures and wall arts. Although we visited in wet winter day, the house was very cozy. We also enjoyed the hot spa and beach walk. It’s great distance from Wellington city by train or car.
