About this cottage rental
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND ONLY - FULL USE OF OUR 6 KAYAKS AND 2 STAND UP PADDLE BOARD. They are 2 doors down on the same property at our other cottage.
If you are looking for a place close to Traverse City that is on a quiet lake - this is your place! This is a part of a small 1950's fishing resort that also has a few other cottages for rent. Our other cottage on the same property has been on VRBO for several years if you would like to see our reviews
Our kitchen is fully stocked and we leave spices, paper products, coffee, etc. for you to use while there.
This cozy cottage has 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. One bedroom has a twin over full bunk bed. The other bedroom has a full bed. Two dining areas inside (and one outside).
We do NOT have WIFI or cable. This is a perfect way to reconnect and enjoy the great outdoors the way they did in the "old days". We do provide a TV with a DVD player and there are DVD's there for your viewing. There is no A/C but the cottage is shaded and there are several fans throughout the cottage.
There is a large deck that has a seating area for lounging under the pergola and a 6 person dining table with beautiful views of the lake. (The photo of the deck shows a high top table that was replaced with the 6 person table.) There is also a fire pit area with several Adirondack chairs.
As mentioned above - a short walk away we have 6 single kayaks, 2 stand up paddle boards and several water floats for you to use free of charge. We love floating in the lake or kayaking around the islands (5) and bays on this 343 acre lake. There is a small sand bar just around the corner by the public access area and adjacent island where we love to spend time hanging out in the water. Just a short kayak ride away.
IF RENTING IN THE FALL (or early spring) PLEASE NOTE: The cottage does not have central heat or air. If the temperature is cooler it can be mildly cold in the cottage. Nothing dressing warmly or using extra blankets can't cure - but just want you to be aware of this if it is important to you. It is a 3 season cottage and why we stop booking as the temperature in Michigan cools.
There are so many fun things to do in the Traverse City area.
Very near the cottage are several choices:
- Boones Long Lake Inn
- Moomers Ice Cream
- Interlochen
Traverse City is just a short drive away (approximately 15 minutes from Front Street) and offers downtown shopping, several restaurants and waterfront.
There are also many cute towns along the peninsula as well as wineries and casinos. You will not be disappointed in this area!

We could not have been more delighted with our stay. The cottage was lovely and the location beautiful. Everything was spotless and obviously well cared for. We were so impressed with the attention to detail, anything we could possibly need was already in place.
The kitchen boasted a full complement of items for everything from cooking to grilling to cocktails. Having a full fridge and a smaller beverage fridge was so convenient.
The deck was magnificent with 2 seating areas and lovely patio lights with a nearby firepit.
Everything needed was provided and the day started with coffee on the back deck looking out over the lake and listening to sounds of water birds.
The location is far away from roads or noise and one could fall asleep peacefully on the amazingly comfortable beds.
Everything was beautifully organized and arranged. Despite the fact that it was a holiday weekend, the area was quiet and restful. Our host even took time out to let us know we were welcome to use their kayaks and other recreational items if we were interested.
The layout of the interior was wonderful for visiting and interacting with family and there was plenty of room to spread out.
This location was close to everything. We spent time at the beach, visited Traverse City and Elk Rapids within minutes and had quick access to groceries and great restaurants.
I was so grateful for the thoughtful guest guidebook about the cottage and local area. We honestly didn't want to leave! Thank you!
