About this house rental
Fully refreshed 60s beach house on a single level, with two sun-filled decks and north-facing views across Pittwater to Lion Island. A perfect escape, minutes from family friendly Clareville beach, which is just a short walk down the road. The kids will love it and small dogs are welcome. Once you round the Avalon bends, and drive past the huge angophora trees, you will forget the city is less than an hour away.
It is easy to spend days at the house and the beach, reading and relaxing, without needing to do more than walk to the Hilltop shops for a morning coffee. The beach itself is clean, clear and without waves - making it perfect for little ones and adults alike. Award winning Clareville Kiosk offers dining options which are a short walk from home. There are also fabulous restaurant and cafe options from Avalon to Palm Beach, or nip down for a drink and dinner at Justin Hemmes' remodelled Newport Arms.
For the more adventurous, there are loads of activities for all ages, from the surf beaches at Palm Beach, Whale Beach, Avalon and Bilgola, to golf courses at Palm Beach and 'Royal' Avalon, tennis courts, Stand Up Paddle Board hire, dinghy hire, fishing from the beach or the Taylors Point wharf, and amazing views on the Bangally Head bushwalk along the coast. Even with a week of school holidays, you will feel that you have barely scratched the surface. Should the weather be wet, there is a United Cinema complex at Warriewood, or just stay in and play games or watch a full range of entertainment on the Smart TV at home.
The house itself is simple and uncluttered, in keeping with our grandparents' original vision. The beds are new and comfortable: the main room has a queen bed, the second room a double bed, and the 'kids' room has two singles - one of which is a king single. All have fans with reverse cycle air conditioning in the main room. The central living space contains a TV, couches, a day bed and a table for puzzles, games and reading. There are two separate decks with furniture to suit the occasion and the sun, and a bbq to round off the day. The wifi in the house allows you to work or study from 'home' if you need to.
Other features include two full bathrooms with showers, and an internal laundry with dryer. There is also a backyard for the kids and an outdoor shower to wash off the sand when you come back from the beach.
We mostly arrive with just our clothes, and buy the weekend's food at Woolworths in Avalon on the way in. There is also a good wine shop, a BWS and several chemists in Avalon to get whatever else you need. One of the hidden gems in Avalon is the french patisserie, La Banette, which provides all the must have baguettes and croissants that will keep you coming back for more, probably on a daily basis.
We can't help but relax when we come here, which is probably why the house has been in the family since 1964. We are sure you will too, and if you fall in love with the Clareville charm, we would be delighted to welcome you back again, and again.

Exactly what I was hoping for. Clean and cute accommodation. Lots of space for 5 of us with two bathrooms. A walking trail down to the beach was great and put us on Clareville beach quickly. I would highly recommend this place.

Girlfriends getaway for a break from the city. Enjoyed this cosy retreat, easy walk to beach and peaceful view of Pittwater. Lovely place to enjoy some champagne and prawns on the deck!

Cute, comfortable and clean beach house in walking distance to the lovely Clareville Beach. We stayed with a pet and it was perfect for walks in the local streets and as a home base for trips out to explore the area. A couple of afternoon snoozes made it an ideal spot to escape the busy everyday!

This cottage is simply wonderful. Impeccably clean and well appointed; tranquil, with a wonderful view out to Pittwater; mere minutes walk to the local beach family friendly beach.
The dwelling itself is humble, but all the more charming for it (beautiful things don’t ask for attention); and comfortably inviting in its bright, airy decor style, which makes you feel as if it’s yours; and also to wish that it was.
The very definition of a holiday house.
Hosts were very helpful and responsive to communications.
The surrounding area is leafy and idyllic and you could walk for hours (days really) just soaking up the beauty of the neighbourhood.
Our group are already making enthusiastic plans for a longer return stay.
Everything you’d expect and so much more.
Just the spot for a group of adult friends seeking a relaxing disconnect from the everyday; or for a young family with kids that want a safe, and leisurely short break in a pretty much perfect situation.

This was the perfect property to get away from it all and yet be only minutes from everything. Absolutely beautiful location, quiet and tranquil. I had the best sleep I have had in years. The house had everything I needed for my stay and I was able to cook a few lovely meals and watch the twilight yacht races on Pittwater from the dining table! The hosts are super friendly and communicated well throughout my trip. Everything was clean and tidy and it was just a 3 min walk to Clareville beach and a short car ride to Avalon beach. This property is a real treasure. I will definitely be coming back. Thanks again so much. Brilliant!

Such a beautiful cared for cottage with everything you need and more to feel like it’s a home away from home! The beds were so comfy I could have slept forever. The showers are powerful and hot and Sue supplies some gorgeous products. The location is a hidden gem and what a treat to sit at the big window and see the boats bobbing on clareville beach with the sun streaming through the cottage. We loved having our cheese and wine on the deck. Sue was a dream to deal with and offered many great tips to make our stay enjoyable. We absolutely loved the Clareville Kiosk for a birthday dinner which came recommend by Sue. Thank you for a fabulous stay Sue. We will be back!

My partner and I had a great stay here. The house is beautiful, clean and a minutes walk from the sensational Claireville beach. Amazing water views from the lounge and both decks. Would highly recommend for a couple or family wanting a getaway from Sydney.

I can’t recommend highly enough this gorgeous, cozy cottage if you are wanting an easy, no stress family get away. My husband and I and our two children spent three gorgeous days at The Sundeck Cottage and it was just a perfect mixture of luxury, relaxation, and activity we all needed. The kids loved how close the beach was and spent hours playing beach cricket, throwing the frisbee and swimming at Clareville beach. The house had everything we needed and we barbecued most nights and had the most delicious fish and chips from Avalon. We spent our mornings at the local surf beach and particularly loved Bilgola beach and the afternoon down on the grass under the shade of the trees at the beach. It really was a perfect mini break and only 30 minutes from the North Shore. I highly recommend it.

I booked this beach house with my boyfriend for our anniversary and we were so blown away by what we got. The place was BEAUTIFUL. Open and full of light with a balcony, outdoor shower, bbq and literally less than a minute walk to the beach. Was essentially on the water which meant we could wake up and just hop straight into the ocean. The beach and area were super private and the surrounding neighbourhood had gorgeous walks, views, cute cafes, shops and restaurants. Everything was super clean and the host was really accommodating to all our needs. Will definitely book again. Thank you so much for having us, it was the BEST weekend.

This gorgeous cozy cottage is an absolutely gem and the name says it all. The cottage is very private, being the only house on one side of the road. The parking is plentiful with the long drive and the two decks are sunsoaked all day with incredible views of Pittwater.
We couldn't believe how close Clareville Beach was from the house, a minutes easy walk. We took our paddleboards and had a ball exploring the waterfront.
The cottage is very clean, comfortable and the beds, amenties, linen all high quality. Check-in/out was a breeze and Sue was so accomodating and helpful.
We will definitely be back in the Christmas Break.
