Near train station. Walking distance to centre. Overlooks ruined castle. Freshly cooked breakfast with cereal and fruit juices. Pet friendly.
Busy crossroads outside hotel so traffic noise. Room dowdy, squashed, not comfortable, poor quality furnishings. £20 charge for pet.

Poor breakfast
Location ok
4.5
The location and the breakfast
The aerial reception of the channel I wanted to watch on the TV was poor.

The breakfast was cooked well, everything was hot and well presented. Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Room was spotlessly clean and welcoming, we had everything we needed.
No car park, double yellow lines outside so couldnt droo bags before parking . That said there were car parks fairly close.

Breakfast was good
Old and dated rooms. Shabby and dated furniture from the seventies. No car park.
Sealed up windows which could not be opened for fresh air.

Good value commercial hotel ideal located for my purposes. Good value for money. Quiet room overlooking the castle ruins.
Room decor was dated but everything worked and, by today's standards it was very good value for money.

The location, friendly staff, lively bar
Couldn't get the TV on, bathroom door hanging off it's sliding rail, mold in bathroom
3.5
Very close to town centre.
Restaurant & bar were closed when we arrived after 7pm. We had breakfast at the Morrisons supermarket across the road, this was no hardship though. No car park.

Very comfortable. Good location. Clean and tidy.
Could not get heating to work in my room.

Location was spot on for my intended July vacation. Good value for money. I live on a low income. Public transport to Keswick very good.
Meals lovely. Friendly staff. The new management is working hard on this. Marvelous business potential comes with many challenges within this listed building. May God bless them in their endeavour.
Draughty bedroom windows. Dusty aspects/extensive mould on ensuite bathroom wall. Broken hair drier. I discussed this with Tony the manager. Enjoyed a good conversation. Am looking forward to revisiting in July.
