(5BR, 4BA,SL12,2K/2TW/2Q/1D, 2 Golf Carts, Sunday Turn in Peak Season, CHECK OUT 11:00AM/CHECK IN 5:30PM) Nestled beside Bald Head's serene marsh, you'll find this five-bedroom, four-bath oasis down a quiet, shaded boardwalk amongst loblollies and palms. When you reach the covered front rocking chair porch, take a second to stop and listen to the gentle breezes rustling leaves, punctuated by soothing bird call.
As you step inside the two-story foyer, you are greeted by warm hardwoods and drawn across the living area to the home's back wall of windows displaying the peaceful perspectives of the Island's estuary. These windows side this retreat's serene living space which features a fireplace, built-ins and egress to an oversize, water-facing wrap-around back screened porch. On the porch, you can relax on the hammock or in one of the three seating areas or enjoy a bite alfresco at one of the two dining tables-all while watching Nature's show of tides, egrets, and other wildlife. Steps down from here lead to this small community's private dock-making it easy to fish, crab, kayak or paddleboard. Back inside, this open floor plan's nearby dining space, cornered by windows, furnishes seating for nine with spots available for three more at the adjacent breakfast bar and offers another access to the screened porch. The generous kitchen provides a large prep island, plenty of storage and has the laundry conveniently close by. On the other side of this floor are two bedrooms. The first is a bright corner room with two Twins that uses the full bath, with tub, just outside its door. The sunlit corner Primary King suite charms with its wall of windows overlooking Bald Head Creek and has its own screened porch entree. It also boasts a large, spa-like ensuite with a garden tub, shower and dual vanity and an oversize closet.
Upstairs, a cheery corner suite is outfitted with two Queens and enjoys its own ensuite with a tub/shower. Positives: The house was beautiful, clean and had a well-stocked kitchen. The beds were comfortable. The view was amazing. Decent beach chairs and the kayak was nice to have. Room for Improvement: Most importantly, there are NO FANS on the back porch. There is no movement of air back there at all and so it was unbearable to sit outside. Plus, with no air movement or breeze, the bugs were terrible, even on the screened porch. Not being able to sit outside and enjoy the view all week was extremely disappointing. There was only one hand soap in the house. There was no counter cleaner or dish liquid. We had a toilet issue, but no plunger. We have stayed on BHI many times and these were not items that we’ve ever had to bring ourselves. The golf carts were subpar. One was old but okay, and the other was old, rickety and near impossible to steer. Again, we’ve never had that experience at BHI before. We ended up having to rent an additional cart. The washer and dryer were terrible. The dryer rocked all over the place and the washer was so unbalanced that someone had to sit on it so that it didn’t pull out of the wall. I made a maintenance request and it was promptly fixed, which we appreciated. The app for the rental company was pretty useless. I sent multiple messages using the app that were never answered. The garbage info was incorrect for pickup days. The furniture in the living room was very dirty and difficult for the grandparents to get in and out of. Overall, we had a nice vacation. But there’s definitely room for improvement with Marsh Onward.

Our family had a great stay at Marsh Onward! The house was lovely and well-located on the island. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were glad the house had a high chair, pack-n-play, multiple bikes, and beach chairs! We would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful time at this location. The home was perfect for our family & grandkids with 5 bedrooms & 4 baths & large wrap-around screen porch overlooking the creek & marsh. Next to the community pier & dock. This was the most peaceful views we've ever experienced. I hope we get to go back one day.
