About this cottage rental
Welcome to Pebbledrift Cottage, a charming and modern self-catering cottage situated in the picturesque port of Charlestown. Designed to blend in with the surrounding historic buildings, our beautiful granite-fronted cottage is part of a small group of seven cottages set around a tranquil courtyard.
Located just 100 yards from Charlestown harbour and its two safe bathing beaches, our cottage offers easy access to the Marine Conservation Society's recommended bathing waters and the European designated bathing water. Step outside and you will find a traditional stone cottage with an enclosed private sunny courtyard garden, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or unwinding with a glass of wine in the evenings.
Internally, Pebbledrift Cottage is modern and contemporary with a layout that maximizes the natural light and views of the immediate area and traditional buildings. Downstairs you will find the comfortable bedrooms and bathroom, while the open plan first floor is divided into three areas: a lounge with two sofas, coffee table, sideboard and TV; a dining area with a solid wood table; and a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar. The kitchen is stocked with all the crockery, cutlery and utensils you could need, as well as modern appliances including an oven and hob, fridge, freezer, wine fridge, toaster, microwave, and dishwasher. We also provide amenities such as Wifi and broadband, satellite TV, a DVD player, a washing machine, a hairdryer, an iron and an ironing board, and gas central heating for your convenience.
Bed linen and bath towels are provided for your stay, but please bring your own beach towels. Outside, the sunny courtyard garden is enclosed and private, with a table and four chairs, as well as two folding sun loungers. We provide one marked off-road private parking space for guests, with additional parking available on the street or in a public car park just 100 yards from the cottage.
There's no need to venture far to find delicious food and drinks, as just a short walk from the cottage you will find two pubs, a bar, a restaurant specializing in locally caught fish, a bistro, and a cafe serving breakfast, light meals, and cream teas. You can also pick up tasty pasties and locally made ice creams at a nearby kiosk. The village also boasts craft shops, a gift shop, and a gallery, as well as the fascinating Shipwreck and Heritage Centre and the popular annual Charlestown Regatta.
Charlestown is the perfect base for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer. The coastal path is easily accessible and golfers will have plenty of options to choose from with three nearby courses. The sailing club in the neighboring village of Porthpean and a wealth of other beautiful beaches are just a few minute drive away. Visit popular attractions such as the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, or take a day trip to nearby towns such as Mevagissey and Fowey. For history buffs, Bodmin Gaol and the Bodmin & Wenford Railway are must-sees, while those looking for a more laid-back experience can visit one of the many stately homes and gardens in the area.
Local buses stop close to Pebbledrift Cottage enabling scenic journeys to Fowey, Mevagissey and/or in combination with the railway stations at Parr and St Austell further afield (e.g to Falmouth, Penzance, St Ives, Newquay, Liskard/Looe) all without needing to drive.
St Austell town, just a short drive from the cottage, offers all the amenities you could need, including two 24-hour supermarkets. The main line railway station is also just 1.75 miles away, with easy connections to nearby towns and cities such as Plymouth, Bodmin, Truro, Penzance, and St Ives.
