About the area:
Southport Island is the neighboring community to Boothbay Harbor, one of Maine’s most popular destinations. Known for being a peaceful and quaint community, the pace of life on Southport is leisurely and the island life will make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The cottage is conveniently located an easy walk or bike ride to Southport’s most popular places including Cozy’s Harbor, which has a restaurant, the Southport yacht club and public kayak launch. A little further down the road you will find the General Store where you can pick up a sandwich, home made treats and a bottle of wine or visit the Barn, a gift shop featuring handcrafted jewelry, pottery, soaps, artwork and other souvenirs. Hendricks’s Head Beach is 3/4 of a mile from the cottage and the perfect place for a swim, collecting seashells, building sandcastles and taking in the beautiful coastline, including Hendricks’s Head Lighthouse. The beach is also dog friendly. And your time in Southport would not be complete without a trip to Robinson's Wharf restaurant, a 5 minute drive from the cottage, where what you eat for dinner was caught that day by a local fisherman.
If you’re looking for a more bustling coastal town, take a drive over the swing bridge that connects Southport to the mainland and visit the quintessential village of Boothbay Harbor. With its many shops and restaurants there’s plenty to explore and while you're there, don’t miss taking one of the whale watches or lighthouse cruises that depart daily from the harbor. Other nearby attractions include the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, The Maine State Aquarium, the Railway & Village Museum and the Boothbay Harbor Country Club. Take an easy drive up the coast to discover other popular destinations such as Damariscotta, Camden, and Rockland. A complete guidebook will be provided with suggestions for these and other area attractions.

My family of 5 and our family dog came to meet up with family for a reunion.

We were two couples and the house worked out great for us. Being a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Boothbay was nice. The local restaurant was delicious and being able to eat near the water was great. Excellent communication with the host!
