About this villa rental
Outstanding panoramic views to the ocean and contemporary elegance in the heart of the Algarve. The villa boasts fabulous living spaces - indoor and outdoors - to relax, lounge & entertain. Tastefully renovated in 2024, Quinta Roh Albi is a private estate for large families and groups of friends seeking magical memories. The property can accommodate 8 adults (plus 2 children up to 12 years of age).
The space
The property is perched on a hill at the end of a track with uninterrupted views across the countryside to the sea two kilometres away. Designed by a reknowned Algarvian architect, the villa is spectacular from every angle.
You enter through a private gate onto a sweeping driveway up to the house, which comprises 330 sq.m of covered living space.
There are four bedrooms, with three on the ground floor, each with an en-suite bathroom and private terrace. Upstairs is a master suite, including a double bedroom, en-suite with bath, a large study and roof terrace. The master suite has a double bed. All other rooms have twins that can be also configured into doubles.
There is a large open plan kitchen and indoor dining area, a spacious television room and enormous living room with a sunken recess and fireplace for the winter months. The living room opens onto a large terrace, ideal for relaxing or entertaining, with steps leading down to the pool area. There is easy access from the kitchen to the outdoor dining area which also has a barbecue.
There is a large kidney shaped pool surrounded by a terrace with plenty of sun loungers. The pool is deep at one end (3m) to accommodate a diving board, and has steps at the shallow end for easy access for children and less confident swimmers.
The villa is sited on a hill so benefits from sea breezes, and the traditional Portuguese design further adds to keeping the inside cool in the summer.
A short walk down the east side of the hill brings you to Solid Rocks Horse Trail Adventures, which offers hacking across trails all the way to the sea.
The setting makes you feel like you are miles from anywhere or anyone. But some of the best attractions the Algarve has to offer are within easy reach. A five minute drive to the iconic chapel at Senhora da Rocha, from where you can take a boat to explore the caves up to Benagil. A little further on is Armacao da Pera with mile after mile of golden sands and boardwalk or Praia da Marinha in the other direction. No trip is complete without a visit to the famous Porches Pottery, only 5 minutes away, as is fine dining at Vila Vita or Vilalara. A short minute drive to spend the day at Zoomarine, Slide and Spash or Aqualand. There is a castle at Silves, 20 or so minutes away.
There are also walking routes directly from the house which will take you to some of the most iconic beaches and cliff tops the Algarve has to offer. Nearby golf courses include Salgados, Amendoeira and Gramacho.
Guest access
Guests have access to all areas of the house except the garage and two locked storage rooms.
There is an unoccupied annex down from the pool which is not for use other than to gain access to the trails leading out from the house.
Other things to note
The property is set on top of a hill in a plot of 3 hectares. Down the hill is Solid Rocks Trail Adventures riding stables. The garden down from the villa is not landscaped, and care should be taken, particularly in the woods. There is a small memorial for my parents tucked away in the woods, which guests are asked to respect.
