Very comfortable hotel. Nice design. Friendly staff.
Just wish the sauna and steam room opened at 8am instead of 10am.

We stayed in 5 different hotels during our trip to Switzerland and this is the only hotel where we have anything negative to say.
The shower broke and fell on my daughter’s head and management offered us a voucher for a future stay for the incident. We won’t ever be back, so declined. The tub was disgusting and moldy as well.
We tried calling the front desk four separate times but they would never answer so we had to walk down to reception. There were 2-3 people just standing around so no reason the phones couldn’t be answered.
The hotel restaurant had terrible service and food. Reviews online seemed good so maybe because we were there in shoulder season everything was subpar? We ordered 3 steaks and they were all severely overcooked. The 2 burgers ordered at our table were essentially raw - they apparently got the temperatures backwards for the entrees.
The spa was also subpar. We really don’t have anything nice to say about this hotel other than the views were amazing - but you can get the same view at many other hotels so I would strongly encourage you to look at those.

I've been waiting to use the laundry room since I checked in, but they told me to come an hour later, and I didn't know who took the key, and they told me to wait again, so I couldn't use it until around 12 o'clock It is questionable that it is not systematically operated who took it and when it can be used, and time is gold for travelers, so you must improve it I was so angry

This beautiful property is in a perfect location for accessing the cable car to First, train station, buses, shops and restaurants.
We stayed in a large room which had ample storage and a fabulous view of the mountains from our balcony.
There was tea and coffee making facilities and drinks in the fridge which were replenished daily.
The bathroom was large with a few essential toiletries and had a bath and shower.
We had the breakfast each day which was very nice with a super range of hot food, cold meats, fruits, yoghurts, cereals etc.
We stayed when the weather was very hot and the room felt very warm with no air conditioning. I appreciate that this particularly hot weather was quite unusual and we were given a fan.
Transport to and from the station is offered on your days of arrival/leavjng.
The area is amazing and the hotel is very accessible for First activities and Jungfraujoch. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location. Views are incredible. Beds are quite firm and no AC which made the room a bit warm, but that’s typical of what we’ve experienced. Overall very nice property.

Beautiful hotel in a stunning setting . Rooms are a good size, with mini bar, lovely bathroom and magnificent views. Welcome drink available and staff very friendly and helpful.

Free shuttle bus was not readily available. And the fact that I could not enjoy outdoor terrace for breakfast was a huge downside. Check in queuing was too long after a long train ride.

Absolutely loved this hotel and staff were so helpful and friendly.
The hotel was in close proximity to grindelwald first. The views from room were breathtaking.
Grindelwald was just beautiful and this hotel was perfect for us.
Special recognition goes to Diago at the bar and Kieran at hotel reception. Both these staff were very accommodating and helpful. The Swiss people are friendliest people in general.

Overall, the hotel is pretty good. The room is a bit small but it has a great view of the Eiger Mountain (I believe it’s the Eiger). The location is quite convenient, with easy access to most tourist attractions in the area, especially First Mountain. If I had to complain, I’d mention that no air conditioning is tough in the summertime, but that’s common for most hotels in the area.

The room was well cleaned and comfortable. Breakfast and the attached restaurant were very good. The udon noodles at the bar tasted terrible, unfortunately.

The service was average for the price.Drinks from the minibar are free, but the selection is poor.
There weren't many types of amenities, so I got the impression that it was a hotel for groups only.

Very nice clean property in the center of the town. Scenic views right from your room.
Only thing we missed was not having Air-conditioning in the room especially in summer months.

Overall very nice resort. I wish the balcony door had a screen so I could leave the door open at night without bugs. Also, the TV situation was not great, no smart TV features.

The Sunstar is a great hotel for visiting Grindelwald as it has amazing views, friendly staff, and a great breakfast (the location is pretty good, too).
The room we had was Mountain View and our balcony let us just sit an be in awe of the Alps. They also have rooms with a view of the town—those would be okay, but the streets have lots of pedestrians and might be less enjoyable for those who like privacy. The pool is good but has limited hours, closing at 8:00. The staff were always friendly (our kiddo got a welcome gift) and helpful.
Location-wise, know that you want to go to the end of the train line, Grindelwald, not Grindelwald Terminal, to get here most easily. From there, it’s about a 7 to 10 minute walk (depending on your speed on hills). They have a shuttle, but we always walked.

We booked a premium room and the view from the balcony was spectacular! The hotel was very clean and had great facilities such as a pool, sun terrace, steam room and lounge bar with amazing views of the Eiger. It was very quiet and the room was a good size with comfy beds. The hotel was very busy and sometimes there seemed to be too few staff to keep up with clearing away at breakfast or dealing with large parties checking in. But the staff were all lovely and did their best to keep queuing to a minimum. We would definitely stay here again as it is probably the best positioned hotel in Grindelwald. Can’t wait to return.
