Rather dated and a bit shabby. Ok for a night’s sleep, but tatty and in need of an upgrade. Bar is ok, but without any character or atmosphere. Car park dark, so didn’t feel overly safe or secure. Staff not overly interested.

Room wasn’t ready from 3pm as stated so we had to leave our bags in the front office because we had an event to attend. When we arrived back later that evening, it transpired our allocated room was directly above a wedding happening and the music was so loud that the floor was vibrating. Once it got to 11pm I called Reception to enquire as to what time the music would end and was told 12.30am. We were offered an alternative room which, granted, was quieter but unfortunately had not been properly cleaned (toothpaste stains in and around sink, tea/coffee not properly replenished and only one bath towel). At this point we just decided to admit defeat and go to sleep, getting up and checking out straight away without using any additional facilities. Hard to see a reason to stay again, which is unfortunate as it’s in a really convenient location.

I decided, very last minute, to use a hotel as we were celebrating a friend's birthday nearby. I had been given a room on the top floor, but there wasn't a lift and I have a knee problem, so I was swiftly swapped to a ground floor room. The room was excellent value for money. Even though the hotel is only rated 3*, it had an iron and ironing board, tea and coffee, a TV, a safe, free wi-fi, laundry service, and a gorgeously comfortable bed. It was also a nicely quiet room with an excellent level of blackout curtains. I'm not a picky person, but I know that readers of reviews want to know of any downsides; the bathroom had single use plastic cups.... Bring back the glasses!!! I rinsed the one I used and took it home to put in my recycling bin...
