Our room was great, and the restaurant at the hotel was excellent. Ely Cathedral was mere steps away. Our biggest challenge was the small, tight parking lot at the hotel.

I've stayed here a few times and has been OK until now - but this time the window didn't fully close and the shower didn't work.

Absolutely loved our overnight stay here. So central. The most dog friendly place we've ever stayed. Staff were great, huge room, lovely bar and restaurant areas. Food and drink was excellent and really good value.

Room we had was comfortable bathroom on small side but manageable for 1 night. Did find the room was continuously noisy from outside road noise and lorries loading/unloading.

The Lamb was clean and comfortable for a one night stay while in Ely for a family wedding. I booked this for family who came over from the USA. They liked their stay and the rooms. They'd have preferred AC to the standing fan but I think that's because they're from US. Most pub hotels won't have AC.
Staff were really friendly and helpful. It was a complicated booking and they were very flexible to make it work. Smooth check in and helped with taxis. A really pleasant stay I hear.

We stayed for 2 nights as we were working (performing) at the Cathedral. We chose this hotel due to proximity of the venue.
A ground floor room was requested at time of booking due to my fiancée's mobility issues but we received no response from the hotel. On arrival we reiterated the need for a ground floor room (they could see that my fiancée was using a wheeled mobility aid) but were told that the hotel was fully booked and so our allocated room was up the stairs on the first floor. We said this would not be suitable and the young chap just shrugged his shoulders. We asked if our room could be swapped for a ground floor courtyard room and we were refused.
My fiancée therefore had to struggle up and down the stairs causing upset and distress. Had the hotel bothered to respond to our initial email request for a downstairs room all of this could have been avoided.
It was a real shame as the food and drink in the restaurant were superb and the other staff were very attentive and polite.

Great place to stay in a great location. The room was warm and the windows open only a little. With the provided fan, the room was tolerable.

Breakfast was the best thing about our stay. The rooms are basic but clean and fairly comfortable. No air conditioning and they have locks on the window allowing you to open it about 5 inches. Parking is very tight and limited (about 10 parking spaces). Staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. I would stay there again but not in the summer.
Amazing breakfast, part continental with fresh pastries and fruit. Cooked to order hot food was great. The bar has good beer selection and mixed drinks. Dinner was very good.

Management extremely poor as is training in appropriate customer service. Very disrespectful and unable to listen and act on valid customer feedback. Concerns raised included: unclear fire safety signage and notices. Bedrooms are in need of full refurbishment although delightful, friendly housekeeping staff do an excellent job in keeping them as clean as possible.

Rooms clean and functional, although I could have done with a suitcase stand as there wasn’t a surface to be put my case on. Food - excellent, staff - efficient and friendly.

The pub is nice but hotel areas are a little tired and could do with a refresh, though, I should say, my room was clean and large.
Breakfast was nice and staff excellent throughout.

Pros: location, history of building, comfort of bed. Impressive water pressure for 2nd floor. Nice tea setup with biscuits. Great blackout curtains: I didn’t even realize there were streetlights outside my window until I opened the curtains at night.
Neutral: Has a physical key, not a keycard, which makes no difference to me. Window opens a little and you can request a fan.
Cons: not very clean-looking. Carpet clearly needs to be deep cleaned or replaced. Bathroom looks like it was renovated in the last 5 years, but they ran out of money before they could finish the floor. (Found a couple stray hairs that suggested they also could do a better job cleaning in general…)
For me, the location and the charm of the building outweighed the cons. The location really can’t be beat. It’s right in the center of the city so you can walk anywhere. It’s on the high street so it is practically next door to several coffee shops and eateries. One building away from the cathedral, one street away from the Ely Museum, a 5-minute walk from Oliver Cromwell’s house, which is both a museum and the visitor’s center. As for the building, it comes up in any mention of the history of Ely, it looks exactly like a classic pub on the outside, and the inside of the building has a lot of character. So for me, it all balanced out.
