A bit hot in our room at night, unable to lower the temperature. Small cabin but ok for 1 night.

We had a great time staying at the hostel! Such a unique experience to stay on the ship. Lots of parking and in a lovely section of the city. We came during the off-season so restaurant and sauna were closed.

When it says "hostel" right on the label, it's reasonable to expect a spartan environment. The S/S Bore is exactly what it says; a private room really is a narrow cabin in a retired Baltic steamship. That said, there *is* a private bathroom and shower (extremely small but it's your own.) The biggest issue was the stagnant air in the room. My stateroom was in a lower deck and really hot. Upper decks were cooler. It was unseasonably warm in Turku during my stay, and the room never dropped below 80F / 27C. The porthole (not a window, a real porthole) could not be opened, and the solid door did not allow any air to enter the room when closed. Even though the air extractor in the ceiling and bathroom were both running, there was no place for cool air to enter. It was stifling.
Other things to know: bedding is provided, but you make your own bed upon arrival. There's no traditional room cleaning. Overall the room was clean but the carpet was better without close inspection. There was only one electrical outlet in the room and one in the tiny bathroom, so hopefully you only need to plug in one device.
Breakfast is included and serviceable in the scandanavian/make-a-sandwich kind of way.
Would I stay there again? Well, I needed to be close to the Turku castle for a music festival so the location was ideal, and the price was right even when all the traditional hotels were ridiculously overpriced, so well, yes, maybe I would. But I'd really want a fan in the summer.

Really poor ventilation making the experience absolutely horrible during a hot summer. Being able to sleep is a bare minimum when booking accommodation. Cool concept but probably best for boat enthusiasts and single travellers. Not for families

We took an 11-hour ferry ride from Stockholm & walked from the terminal to the Bore. The signage to actually get to the boat was a bit confusing, and I was therefore eager to get checked in and secure our things. We passed up the opportunity to have a proper meal at the attractive restaurant in the parking lot near the Bore, not realizing that all the restaurants in Turku stop serving food at 10pm. We eventually found a Korean bar that served us hot dogs and fish skewers. Our room on the Bore was an interior cabin, quite tiny and airless, and it seems like there would be no way to take a shower without getting every inch of the bathroom wet. We didn’t try! Breakfast was ok.

First of all: This is a hostel, not a hotel. -Which means that the advertisements are telling the truth. You do not have a right to expect Hotel-level when You are going to book Yourself to Hostel.
SS Bore was built in the year 1960. -The vessel is therefore a historical museum vessel. Interior of the Hostel Bore is therefore like it has been onboard of the ship of its time, because Bore is a ship.
Cabins are little bit outdated and toilets & showers are in workable condition, athough not up-to-date. -But, You have to accept this when You are making a booking in a budget-hostel.
However, cabins were clean, cozy and warm. Breakfast was excellent considering the low budget price of a night. Please, note: There is plenty of cost-free parking space available at the quay next from Bore.
Wifi was working well. There were no televisions or a fridge in the cabins, neither there was not any kind of restaurant etc. open in the evening. Kiosk onboard was open until 9pM. -Which means that if You want to have any entertainment in the evening-time, You have to sing and play by Yourself.
I spent three nights onbaord of Bore. I will come back and book cabins for me next time as well. Bore promises to offer a safe and clean cabin obver night with tyhe Breakfast, and that is what Bore provides. No more, no less. This is and will be enough for me. I do not need to have anything else.
Note: SS Bore is very popular on summer-time. Book cabins well in advance !

Great for the price, like staying in the Sweden-ferry. Not the newest furnishing but ok. Good breakfast!

Still one of the best places to stay when in Turku. Beds could be a bit more comfortable, but location and the ship are quite unique.

The location and view is superb, the price is great and the bunk bed is comfy - I mean, I never slept better on a ship and as an experience it definitely worth more than any hotels on land -it is really cool, especially when you can see the thousand year old castle and the river with rocky wall is just amazing. I have stayed there a couple of years earlier and I think the management has probably changed since then. However, I feel there is a couple of things that should be improved. First, there is no nightly reception and there are no night restaurants in the area, so in case there are problems there is no one to help. Second, the heater in the room was not working and it was cold in the morning. Third, the breakfast was not very good although little smoothie shots were really cool. Fourth, the dust in the room indicated that the vacuum was not perfomed properly. Fifth, the furniture is outdated but I think it is a part of experience!

I'm aware of the cheap fare compared with other accomodation options in Turku but the small bed size is really out of this century!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the S/S Bore! Our cabin was spotless and I very much appreciated the crisp linens provided. Making our own beds wasn't a problem. The breakfast that was included was by no means abundant (wasn't replenished as rapidly as needed), but everything was fresh and wholesome and we were satisfied.

It was great fun to sleep on board a ship.
Everything was clean, equipped with everything necessary (Towels, plugs, hair dryer).
There was a kitchen for everyone to use, a library in the common area and great tour guide maps to explore town. S/S Bore even has a sauna!
The staff is very friendly and helpful!
