The room was basic, a tiny bit small for two people with two suitcases, but the beds were really comfortable, and we found the people who worked at the Viking very nice and helpful which made our stay a really pleasant one. Good value for money, and we would stay there again.

My daughter and I loved the charm and character of our room in the top floor under the eaves. The shower room was perfect and it was lovely to look out on the traditional property opposite as well as to glimpse the hills around us. The staff were amazing - friendly, cheerful, helpful at all times. I really appreciated being able to have the free coffee/cookies in the reception area at any time with the opportunity to chat to other guests there, hearing about their experiences/plans and also the brown cheese/waffles in the afternoon. This hotel was ideal for us and I would certainly return.

We stayed one night. The bed was a little too small for two tall persons. And it was very warm in the room.
Bathroom is ok and the overall size of the room is also ok. Staff is friendly. Free waffles and coffe / tea in the evening.

As a solo traveler I found the hotel was in an excellent location. The main town was a 10 minute walk away, also the meeting place for most tours was again only a 10 minute walk.
The room was spacious although there is limited space to put your belongings.
The bathroom was plenty big enough with a walk in shower.
The hotel offered unlimited tea and coffee although the water in the flasks was not always the hottest.
Between 5 and 7 there was free waffles available which were made fresh with a waffle machine.
I would recommend this hotel and if I returned to Tromso I would use this hotel again.

The location is great. However the WiFi does not work in the room. The sound proofing is not good. You can hear sound from the street. Difficult to sleep.

Very nice staff and service with great tips on the surrounding area. Great location and decent rooms.
Don't miss out on the complimentary assortment of tea, coffee and cookies in the lobby. Also the free waffles in the late afternoon appeal to my Dutch heart!

Old hotel, did not look like the pictures. Using the shower the whole floor in the bathroom got wet. The wifi didn’t work. Fridge was not cold. During check-in we got informed that normally we had to pay a depositum (2-3000kr, don’t remember exact amount), there was no information about the depositum when we booked the hotel. In the end luckily we didn’t need to pay it. First time in Norway I’ve been told we need to pay depositum, and strange since the hotel was really old, broken floors etc.

Comfortable bed and a small room with the necessities. Sadly, my room smelled of cigarette smoke, not from the room itself, but from the corridor. It was also very noisy from the corridor.

Good value for money, the rooms are nice enough but lack basic amenities such as kettle, coffee, tea, bar area, bathroom shaving plug. The fridge in the room is available to use but doesn't actually cool things down. Wi-Fi is free but really bad, barely usable. There is coffee and tea available in the reception, and breakfast only available if you request it. Staff doesn't inform you about any of this. The rooms are in general badly soundproof, with a lot of noise from the street and neighbouring rooms coming through

A terrific bargain given the prices for hotels in Tromso. The rooms were small, clean and well organized for the size but had everything one could need. Front desk staff, especially Andres, was truly terrific!! A total asset to the property with many recommendations for you!

Great for sleep, but low quality bathroom and desk. Service was ok, however no breakfat in the hotel. I got two 15% tickets for a resturant.

The hotel's facade was being renovated while I was staying there. I woke up to construction workers walking outside my (third floor) window on scaffolding, which was an unpleasant surprise. I hope that the hotel staff would have informed me about the renovation beforehand, because I was traveling for business and working from my hotel room.
The renovation made working almost impossible: noise, people working right outside my window on scaffolding, and being forced to have curtains closed from 8 am onward, so no daylight entered the room.

Had the worst experience here as a solo female traveler. And if i was the owner of the hotel would fire the staff. Just to let you know: I am a doctor in my home country. Chose this hotel because it looked decent for spending one night, and had single rooms available, but it was a very bad experience:
- I tried to contact the hotel several times before arriving to know about parking. Never got a reply. When arrived there asked if there was any free parking around because I don’t mind to walk: actually I was driving all day, so walk a bit was just perfect at the time. The girl at the reception started laughing at me. Like: did I told any joke? I then asked for paying parking, an announced at the reservation website. They told that there were non available. 3 min later was still at the reception and they gave a parking spot to another guest. Right in front of me. Unbelievable this kind of service.
- there is a lot of noise at the hotel. You will not sleep the entire night, listening all the doors closing and people talking on the hallways.
- I was at the 4th floor and when I wanted to do the check out elevator was not working. So i started to walk down the stairs with all my luggage to discover that the cleaning lady was keeping the door of the elevator open, with the cleaning car, at the second floor.
Just a note: the polish lady at the reception was very nice. And even tried to look for a parking spot to me. The other one was very rude and mocking the guests.

The room seemed clean but the pillows had makeup stains on them so I don’t think they were changed from previous person staying in the room.
