A fun hostel with lots of character! Staff was friendly and helpful, and the property had lots of charm. Bear in mind, it is a hostel, not a hotel; if you aren't used to staying in a hostel, this is not the place for you. Local breakfast places are incredible. We would stay here again.

Great spot. Great cool hostel experience. Great service , super clean. An excellent base for exploring Algonquin park solo or with friends. The video is chill with a bit of rock n roll. Roland will treat you right. Great attention to detail in following the rules and setting up out side. Civilized beer and local tips abound. I will be back.

We enjoyed watching the sunset from the common room on the third floor. A good place for an overnight especially when cold and rain did not make camping attractive.

Very closed to Algonquin Park, but there is literally no sound blocking system in place . We can hear everything, from next door's family conversation to front desk's check in, to everybody walking to the bathroom at dawn, to people walking and running at the hall and upstairs. Bring ear plugs.

I would have given a better review if I were provided with towels. There were no towels provided! Overall conditions of the Hotel is fairly good. I think with this price, the Hotel offers decent facilities.

There aren’t many hostels in this part of the world and this one does it really well. People and service are very nice. My stay was on a Friday and it was open mic night at the bar. The small crowd was super friendly and welcoming. Really enjoyed my stay!

owner is nice, room is clear and free wifi and parking all good. only shower water flow is too small and water temperature is not stable. may be another bath room is better I did not try. no restaurant around.

Never underestimate the weather in Canada =) It's a quiet place and a short way to Algonquin park. Also nice people are her =)

Small friendly, hostel environment with a nice communal kitchen (fridge, oven, toaster and prep sink) and separate common room where there are lots of VHS videos to play on the TV as well as some board games. There is a small general store/gas station across the road at which one can get basic supplies but the closest town is Bancroft, approximately 12 miles away. There is a pub on the main floor and the hostel is on the second and third floors. If the pub is hopping (think weekends), you'll enjoy the music no matter where you are in the building. :-) The communal shower needs a bit of work and should be improved as the property goes forward. While these are not luxurious accommodations, the property is a welcome way-point coming from (or going to) nearby Algonquin Park. Other properties in the general area (i.e., Bancroft of Haliburton) are often at least double (or triple) the price...but then you get the on-suite facilities, in-room TV and so on.

First night was great, quiet, comfortable bed. Second night, the bar had a band so was a bit noisy. Other guests could be heard at all hours of the night, last at 4:23AM, so not much sleep.

It was great in fact better than what we expected. The rooms are clean, there is kitchen and common room for relaxation. The only thing missing was an attached toilet in the room bit I guess for what you are paying for its still an excellent deal. Great for friends, couples and family but not recommended for seniors.
