Ok for cheap accomodation.
We were disappointed that there wasnt a restaurant/bar onsite as advertised and we had to find a restaurant for dinner instead, although found an amazing italian restaurant 15min walk from the motel.
Staff rating only marked as average as reception was unattended when we came back as room wasn't quite ready when we first arrived and had to use phone to ring number to get key off cleaning staff member who didnt speak much english, so couldn't answer any of our questions. Main receptionist was nice and helpful though.

The accomodation was average. The whole place looked a little run down and tired. While they claimed to have Reception open until 9pm it was closed. Had to phone a number which then told me I had phoned out of hours and to phone again between 9am and 9pm. It was 7pm ?? I wouldn't stay here again.

Quiet hotel, fairly conveniently located to get into Wellington, clean but a bit dated and in need of a bit of tlc.

Staying at the champers was nothing like what it used to be.. the champers used to be where people would stay for holidays and for work, but now, I have nothing against it, but it's all homeless people and family's.. I get everyone needs somewhere to say and I definitely don't want family's living in cars, but, as a privately paying customer, I think the motels have gotten used to getting top dollar for every room with no effort because of our homeless crisis so the effort has gone. these customers are so grateful for just a roof over their heads and have little other choice.. I don't know what motels are going to do once the housing crisis is over because customers will go back to having a choice.. In summary, you get what you pay for and we just needed one night but it wasn't exactly clean and we didn't exactly feel super welcome.. but I get it. I was very, very grateful that the error I made with the booking date was able to be fixed up but that was a hotels.com thing, not a champers motel thing.. motels used to be so nice with other holiday makers etc and is why I did prefer motels to hotels but I think it'll be the last motel I stay at for a while

The property was rundown, we were given just one pillow each, no hand towel or flannels and only Earl Gray tea and coffee. No ordinary black tea. Outside had rubbish around and we booked there because it offered a restaurant on site but this had long been closed down. Thought it was expensive for what we got. The deodorisation was overwhelming and we wondered what smells it was covering up.

When we arrived at Champers in the afternoon the reception was locked so I used the buzzer outside to finally summon someone. When they came I said I was checking in and he said they can't do it there. He said he could put us in the Du Pont Motor Inn which was back where we had come from. When I booked the room it said the room was available. The review above is for the Du Pont. They put us in an "Executive" Unit for the same price. While the unit was fairly good in terms of quality I would not call it executive. The worst thing with it was that it had been poorly cleaned. The staff were also not very friendly or helpful. They did not give us the WiFi password when we arrived and when we got back to the unit later that night and tried the internet of course the reception was closed so could not get the password.

The 8-star rating is obviously from pre-Covid when Champers had a good reputation; now run down since being hired by Housing NZ for emergency housing. Absolutely awful. No basics (ie cups), dirty, items broken and damaged.

We arrived and reception not open (listed as open till9pm). Rang number on door and told it was overbooked. While waiting for the call to be returned the place looked more like a homeless youth centre with young people standinf outside sharing what ever they were smoking. Caller then checked us in at another property that was exceptional. All this was very strange as we had received a confirmation email 2 days before.
